Chapter 1118: Chapter 1118: Bizarre_1
The two officers exchanged a glance, placing the notebook they were holding onto the coffee table and opening it—
“Please take a look at this,” the officer said as he brought up a video and pressed play. “This was captured in the corridor outside the forensic lab at three in the morning.”
In the video, the door to the autopsy room suddenly opened, and a young woman stepped out, walking steadily away.
The overall quality of the video was quite blurry, but the dark hole on the woman’s forehead was distinctly visible.
Alexander Sumrs’s face turned grim.
“The criminal’s body was personally escorted back to the station by us, and the forensic doctor confird death without a doubt, but…”
The officer pursed his lips, seemingly finding the scene before him peculiarly horrifying and bizarre. He paused for a mont, then continued, “But this morning, we discovered the body was missing, and upon checking the surveillance cara, we saw… she’d escaped.”
Alexander Sumrs looked up and glanced at them, “If the criminal has escaped, what was the press conference this morning all about?”
“Given the negative impact of the case, we needed to give the public an explanation. The decision to hold a press conference had already been made before we discovered the body was missing…” The officer’s voice was heavy, “At this critical juncture, if the news that a dead body has escaped got out, it would cause imnse panic, and it would severely undermine the public’s trust in the judicial departnt. Therefore, we were ordered to keep this absolutely confidential.”
Alexander Sumrs remained silent for a while, then stood up, “Please wait a mont.”
He went upstairs to his room, took a handgun from a drawer, weighed it in his hand, then ca back downstairs to the living room.
“This is the gun I used last night. It holds eight bullets, and there are six remaining. I fired two shots; one hit her arm, the other hit her squarely in the forehead. If your forensic doctors perford an autopsy, they should have found two bullets in the body.”
The officer looked embarrassed, “Indeed, the forensic doctor did find two bullets.”
The presence of the bullets was confirmation that Alexander Sumrs had hit his target.
“When you shot her, did you notice anything suspicious, or anything out of the ordinary?” the officer asked. “If you have any clues, please be sure to tell us.”
Alexander Sumrs pondered for a mont and said, “Sorry, but it all happened so abruptly that I didn’t notice anything unusual. If I had to point out anything suspicious, it would be that her movents were incredibly fast, her reflexes were extrely sharp.”
The two officers looked disappointed.
This bizarre incident was unprecedented at the police station, and they were very concerned that the escaped criminal might commit cris again.
At that mont, Purple Sumrs walked in from outside. Seeing that the officers had not yet left, she couldn’t help but ask, “Is everything all taken care of with the case?”
Without waiting for the officers to respond, Alexander Sumrs said, “Everything has been taken care of. The officers just ca for a routine questioning today.”
“Oh,” said Purple, nodding.
The officers were also fully aware that with Purple being heavily pregnant, it would not be good for her to get upset about this kind of matter.
Having gained nothing from their visit, the officers took their leave politely.
Alexander Sumrs took Purple’s hand and helped her sit down on the couch, “How co you’re back so soon?”
“I’m tired of walking by the lake every day, the scenery is getting dull,” Purple replied nonchalantly.
She grabbed so nuts from the coffee table and snacked on them, but soon lost interest and lay against Alexander, flipping on the TV with the remote.
There didn’t seem to be anything interesting on TV either; she had nearly watched every recent movie already.
Alexander asked her, “Purple, how about we go back to Pearlpoint City for a while, and then return after school starts?”
“Would that be okay?” Purple imdiately sat up, sowhat excited.
Being pregnant, she had been confined to walks by the lake every day, and it had indeed beco boring.
Moreover… with recent events, she also wanted a change of scenery, a change of mood.
Alexander smiled, “You’re in the middle stage of pregnancy, you can still move around. In a few more months, you’ll have to stay put.”
Purple touched her belly, smiling and nodding, “Okay, then let’s co back when school starts.”
