Chapter 438: Chapter 419: They All Have Offspring, Why Don’t I?_3
However, these matters were of no concern to Chen Ying; he checked each calf’s condition and after making records, returned to his own side.
Entering August, the temperature difference between day and night was large, especially when it was windy; the rustling wind felt as if it was about to lift off the roof.
With the expanded small-scale photovoltaic power station, they could use electric heaters to stay warm at night.
A square table, surrounded by thick table curtains, with a pot of milk tea simring on the stove in the center, so dried fruits, and kumquats and jujubes were placed around it, a proper gathering around the stove to brew tea.
The three of them were each looking at their respective materials.
Dao ihua was keen on joining this plant research team.
Her supervisor had assigned her a project which she had completed, but she needed to publish more papers to graduate. She wasn’t soone who liked to pad her paper count with low-quality work—besides, she had the capability to conduct more in-depth research.
What she was looking at now was the distribution of dicinal plants in the uninhabited areas of the highland.
“Brother Ying, I plan to search for Red Rhodiola, especially Tanggu Rhodiola habitats. I might have to stay here a while longer; I won’t interrupt your work, will I?”
“No problem, the rest stop here isn’t that comfortable. How about I speak with Yin Li, and you stay at the Protection Station? Little Liu is there as well, so you two girls can keep each other company.”
“That works; I’ll trouble you to talk to Brother Li first, and I’ll contact my family to send so things over.”
Dao ihua wasn’t one to fuss over such minor issues. The rest stop wasn’t far from the Protection Station—if she really set her mind to sothing, could these few tens of kiloters distance stop her?
Yin Li would definitely welco her; Dao ihua was a major funder of their River Source Protection Station, with no one knowing how much she had invested in their equipnt and assets. The idea of her staying a while to conduct research would be more than welco.
Besides, Dao ihua had ntioned wanting to find a project on the highland to complete her doctoral thesis in a conversation with him.
Yin Li, with a forestry degree, had a profound understanding of plants and had not neglected his professional knowledge while working at the Protection Station. During his patrols in the mountains, he had recorded every rare plant he encountered, naturally including Tanggu Rhodiola.
If Dao ihua wanted to search for Red Rhodiola, he could even personally take her there.
Aside from Tanggu Rhodiola, he was also researching two other rare highland plants. Unfortunately, he was usually surrounded by rough n with no one to discuss relevant information, and he felt so regret about it.
With Dao ihua’s arrangents tentatively settled, Chen Ying entrusted her to Yin Li’s care with peace of mind, while he himself needed to study the distribution and expansion of Snow Leopards and Lynxes to the east of the uninhabited area.
Because the spread of Snow Leopards and Lynxes pressured the prairie wolves to also expand towards human settlents, which had a significant impact on populated areas.
Only after clarifying the expansion trends could the local Forestry and Grassland Bureau and wildlife conservation volunteers start their work, whether it’s stepping up vigilance or establishing isolation barriers, all of which required ti and a significant amount of human and material resources.
Just about ready to go to sleep, the door was pushed open a crack, and a cat head squeezed in.
“Jinya, why did you suddenly co back? Where’s Little Jin?”
Jinya walked over and nonchalantly rubbed against his leg before running towards his room. After a few minutes, she ca out dragging a small blanket.
“Has Jinya beco a spirit? She even knows to co back for a blanket.”
The blanket trailed on the ground, and she kept stepping on it, almost tripping over herself.
Jinya seed anxious, holding the blanket in her mouth, and looked up at Chen Ying with watery eyes, full of grievance.
Chen Ying helplessly got up and packed the blanket into a cloth for her to carry on her back.
The mischievous ones at ho had long learned how to unpack parcels, and simple knots were no match for their sharp fangs and claws.
The next day, when Chen Ying visited the mountain to see the little ones, he saw Little Jin curled up in the innermost part, sleeping with a small blanket, and snuggled up with him was a small gray and white lynx.
A little further up in a crevice in the rocks, three little snow leopards were playfully pouncing and roughhousing, having grown bigger since he last saw them.
Hearing a call from above, Chen Ying took a few steps back and looked up, only to discover that on a rock ledge above, Er Niu, Jinya, and the long-unseen Lady Lynx were gathered together basking in the sun.
So the little gray and white lynx was Lady Lynx’s child. With the sa fur as its mother, it looked as though it would grow up to be another beautiful large lynx.
As usual, he picked up the three little snow leopards to asure their body data and took the opportunity to pinch their bellies and paws.
Big Zai’s teeth were getting a bit sharp, and biting through the gloves, he could still feel a slight pain.
Second cub had a “do as you please” look, showing particular interest in the zipper pull on Chen Ying’s chest, constantly fiddling with it and even trying to take a bite.
Third Miss, just like her mother, was especially clingy, curling up in a ball on Chen Ying’s body, and even started to purr contentedly.
After putting the snow leopard cubs back, Chen Ying didn’t disturb the three ladies’ sunbathing and continued climbing up.
This ti, he almost reached the summit, looking over at the flat highland adows on the other side, and the animals wandering freely on the adow, feeling a sense of spaciousness.
Just when he decided to take a walk towards the adow, he turned around to find Jinya stealthily hiding behind a rock watching him.
“What are you doing, have you done sothing naughty, why are you hiding and skulking about?”
After thinking for a mont, Jinya ca over and rubbed against his shin a couple of tis, then lay down pressing his foot, rolled over, and exposed her soft belly.
“Spit it out, what on earth do you want to do?”
“When are you going to give the cub you promised ? They all have cubs, why don’t I have any!”
Chen Ying looked bewildered, “The cub I promised you? When did I promise you that?”
“Ao, you promised it before, right after my brother had cubs, you said I would have my own cubs too.”
Chen Ying’s face was covered in black lines. Wasn’t it because Jinya kept wanting to steal his brother’s babies, and to keep Jinya from getting beaten up, he had placated her to give up back then? Now where would he find a cub for Jinya to raise?
But after all, Chen Ying had been with Jinya for a few years now. If she brought up this out-of-the-blue question, she must have sothing in mind.
“Spill it, what do you want to do, you need to help you with sothing?”
Jinya’s eyes darted around guiltily for a while before she finally hugged Chen Ying’s shin coquettishly, saying she had taken a liking to a young cub and wanted Chen Ying to help her bring it back.
“You don’t know, its mother doesn’t like it, it barely gets a few bites of the prey brought back, its survival is all thanks to scavenging leftovers from others.”
“Are there lynx around here with cubs?”
“Yes, yes, if you agree I will go and bring it back myself. But you have to check it for ; its eyes seem to have so issues.”
Chen Ying didn’t agree straight away but told Jinya to show him the situation first.
Seeing his attitude soften, Jinya flipped up and rose to her feet, “Then let’s go now!”
The whole lynx exuded an air of eagerness that just couldn’t wait.
