Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Grandpa Hu Brought You a Client

Furry face, wide bloodthirsty mouth, the character for “king” clearly visible on the forehead.

“Aho! Aho!”

The big fellow missed his initial strike, and as he aid to continue, he drew near to Chen Ying, catching a scent that put tigers at ease.

“Aho, stay still, let sniff again.”

The tiger’s paw lifted, pressing down on Chen Ying, as his head lowered to sniff Chen’s neck.

At that mont, the arriving team mbers caught sight of the scene, their exclamations of fright contrasting with the slight amusent on the faces of two mbers who didn’t quite get along with Chen.

One stepped forward, wanting to help pull the leader away, while another stood behind the crowd, his hand dipping into his pocket and nonchalantly pulling it out after a while.

Chen raised his hand, signaling the team mbers not to panic and not to scare the tiger.

The tiger sniffed around Chen for a while, then sneezed, spraying him with saliva.

A few minutes later, it released Chen, roared nacingly at the crowd, and turned to slip into the dense jungle.

The leader’s back was soaked with sweat; only when he saw the tiger depart did he hurry to pull Chen up.

“It’s alright, that tiger ant no harm, it was just curious.”

The team didn’t quite know how to respond.

Almost mauled by a tiger, and it ant no harm?

“It really didn’t an any harm; it was just curious because it had never seen our kind of creature before. I reckon I slled so much of sweat that it was disgusted.”

Two female team mbers couldn’t help but laugh.

Disgusted indeed—enough to sneeze at the stench, how could it not be?

His humorous interjection greatly eased the atmosphere.

But everyone remained on alert; just because Chen wasn’t attacked didn’t an they were safe.

“This tiger looks a lot like an Indochinese Tiger, but we haven’t reached the border area yet, have we? Have Indochinese Tigers ventured this far into our country?”

Indochinese Tigers had not been seen residing in our country for many years, with current sightings being those that crossed borders transiently.

However, if this Indochinese Tiger decided to settle here, it might attract a second and a third one, and perhaps in a few years, they might have their own Indochinese Tiger population.

The team beca excited at this analysis, their fear of tigers instantly dissipating as they wished they could pet the tiger’s head, encouraging it to strive for two cubs a year, and a group in three!

Unnoticed by the rest, Dao ihua and the leader exchanged glances, with Miss Dao giving a slight nod.

The leader’s expression stiffened montarily, but with the previous incident still on their minds, the others didn’t think much of it and assud he was worried about the success of the upcoming inspection work.

The rest of the inspection went smoothly, with no other beasts encountered.

Of course, they also discovered many elusive darlings, such as Fei’s Leaf Monkeys, relatives of those from Liang Mountain.

The monkeys Liang Mountain saw were Indochinese Grey Leaf Monkeys, with hair that stood on end, giving the appearance of a pointy top. But the Fei’s Leaf Monkeys here had round heads.

(What the heck are these two-legged beasts up to?)

“These monkeys are real good, unlike your wild relatives. These are all good babies.”

Brother Cang, the volunteer most fond of photographing monkeys, showed Chen so pictures.

“Look, these were taken last ti I was here; there weren’t as many monkeys. Now, there’s a clear increase. It’s fantastic; truly great.”

He seed genuinely thrilled, flipping through the photos, recalling the circumstances of each shot from one or two years ago.

This wasn’t true love; what was?

The female volunteer who had previously chatted with Chen was a bird enthusiast, but besides birds, she also liked photographing snakes.

A rather rare hobby among won.

When asked why she didn’t fancy felines, Sister humd and murmured, vexed because cats are the natural predators of birds—she was mad at the whole bunch.

“But snakes eat birds too.”

“But snakes eat bird eggs. As long as they don’t hatch, they’re not birds!”

Well, that was an original perspective.

Laughter and banter made the ti fly by.

Chen Ying and the leader finished setting up the tents, had dinner with the team in the cabin, chatted for a bit, and prepared to rest.

Before getting close to the tents, Chen felt sothing amiss. Stopping the leader, who wanted to check on the situation, Chen used his hiking pole to pry open the tent door.

But just as a gap opened, a large head squeezed out.

Hiss, everyone inhaled sharply.

Chen’s face darkened. Going around to the back of the tent, he was livid to the point of spitting blood.

The big guy had slashed a hole with his claws and squeezed into the tent from the side.

The already small single tent was completely filled by it.

The rascal had also chewed up his backpack, dragging out and eating the jerky hidden inside.

Anger welled up within him.

Chen went over and, clutching the tiger’s ear, dragged it out of the tent.

Then everyone could see the state of the inside.

Tsk, the tent was completely unusable.

And that backpack, the top half torn and bitten, looking a ss, its contents strewn about.

The tiger, after being dragged around, felt the team’s stares were off and roared indignantly at them.

What are you looking at—doesn’t Grandpa Hu deserve so respect?

Chen, with a glower, gathered what remained intact, but the backpack was ruined—he surely couldn’t be expected to carry his belongings for four days.

What do you do with a child who won’t obey? Spank them, of course!

Chen Ying was so furious that he pinned down the tiger and smacked its butt several tis.

The tiger was stunned by the smacks and turned its head to howl chaotically at Chen Ying.

“Still talking back? Look at what you’ve done, where am I supposed to sleep? How am I going to carry all this stuff? Huh, all you care about is your own pleasure, don’t you ever think?”

The people nearby were taken aback.

The tiger really started to use its brain; humans sure had their own issues.

Dao ihua took out a foldable bag from her backpack and handed it to Chen Ying.

This bag definitely wouldn’t last long, but it was better than nothing.

They cleaned up the ss, and the team leader and female volunteers stuffed so things into their own packs, barely managing to fit the rest into the foldable bag.

“I’ll go to the village tomorrow and ask around to see if anyone has a backpack for you,” said Dao ihua, twirling her finger, “and considering I’m giving you a bag, can I pet the tiger?”

Chen Ying glanced at Elder Tiger lying in the ruined tent and nodded.

“Go on, pet to your heart’s content, pet its fur off.”

Pressing down on the tiger’s head, he allowed Dao ihua to stroke Grandpa Hu’s back.

The fur was slightly coarse, different from the feel of Jinya and Leopard Sister’s touch. To be precise, it felt a bit like that of a Clouded Leopard, but even stiffer.

Grandpa Hu didn’t seem pleased, biting Chen Ying’s hand with its mouth.

“Don’t move, just like that, I’m going to check your teeth.”

Chen Ying’s eyes were sharp; he noticed there seed to be sothing wrong with one of the tiger’s teeth, promptly pried open its mouth, and inspected it under the camp light.

It looked like an old injury, perhaps from chewing on sothing too hard, which had caused damage to the tooth and gum.

Chen Ying gently touched it with his finger, and the uncomfortable Grandpa Hu shook his hand off and wasn’t pleased, wanting to leave.

“Don’t be hasty, I’ll take care of it for you.”

Chen Ying held it down and asked Dao ihua to bring her first aid kit.

When the first aid kit was opened, it dazzled everyone.

It was like a treasure chest; except for large examination instrunts, it had everything, even a complete set of tools for cleaning teeth.

With the help of two staff mbers from the M League, Chen Ying removed the tartar affecting the health of Grandpa Hu’s gums, ground down a bit of a broken tooth, and finally applied so anti-inflammatory dicine.

Grandpa Hu smacked his lips, his expression brightened.

Hey, this feels much better!

The pleased Grandpa Hu went off excitedly to hunt, as tonight his teeth were good enough to gnaw on another prey.

“Brother Ying, why don’t you squeeze in with us inside the house?”

One of the two n tried to speak, but the other pulled him back, and they both turned their heads away, unable to hide their emotions.

Chen Ying ignored them and took out a sewing kit, planning to nd the tent enough to last a few days.

He also had a separate piece of lightweight waterproof fabric in his pack, perfect to drape over and cover the tears.

As long as there wasn’t a downpour, this makeshift fix would do just fine.

This little incident shouldn’t delay everyone’s rest; the next day’s tasks were still significant, and they needed to ensure enough sleep to recover the vast energy and strength expended.

Chen Ying tossed a sachet into the tent.

He made it using traditional Chinese herbs at the first aid station, and it was extrely practical in the wild.

There were more mosquitoes and ants in the rainforest than in the mountains back ho, and with this sachet, there was no fear of waking up covered in itchy welts.

The team was equipped with insect repellent powder, and everyone also carried their own proprietary formulas, so Chen Ying didn’t show off his sachet.

Just after finishing breakfast and preparing to start work, Grandpa Hu ca back again.

This ti, he wasn’t alone.

Three tigers!

This scared everyone into hastily retreating into the wooden house, leaving only Chen Ying and three n with long-handled sickles to stand at the doorway.

Chen Ying glanced over and noticed one tiger was a bit smaller and looked clearer-eyed than the others, probably a Baby tiger not yet weaned from its mother.

The mother and child didn’t co too close, while Grandpa Hu approached nonchalantly, opening his mouth toward Chen Ying, indicating he had brought custors.

Understanding its intent, Chen sighed and picked up the first aid kit, walking toward the Female tiger.

The Female tiger seed sowhat thin, with faint traces of blood at the corners of her mouth, and a mild stench was detectable as he got closer.

After observing for a mont, Chen Ying turned to grab a bottle of mineral water and a clean towel.

Taking a few steps, he looked back, hesitating.

“Brother Ying, what’s wrong?”

“Uh, does anyone not too scared want to give a hand?”

Not scared? How could that be?

Seeing their conflicted expressions, Chen Ying didn’t mind and continued towards the Female tiger.

He could manage alone, but it was just less convenient.

At that mont, the team leader spoke up before Dao ihua could.

“I’ll do it. What do you need?”

“You see, I have to clean her wound first, and you’ll need to help hold her head steady. Then, you might need to help rinse the wound.”

Pouring water on a tiger’s head? Are you sure you won’t get bit?

The team leader’s face flickered, but he didn’t hesitate, put on specially-made gloves, and bravely walked towards the tiger.

Chen Ying patted Grandpa Hu, signaling him to take the Baby tiger to play elsewhere as he had work to do and didn’t need any interruptions.

As the Female tiger opened her mouth, Chen Ying’s eyes nearly popped out.

The team leader nearby couldn’t help but blurt out, “Holy crap,” imdiately piquing the curiosity of the onlookers inside and outside the wooden house.

The two at the doorway tiptoed, desperately trying to see, but Chen Ying and the team leader blocked the view to the tiger’s head completely.
