Chapter 1414: Chapter 975: Mourning Undead Soul

Anthony led the Undead Army through the night, swiftly approaching Highland City.

Highland, as the na suggests, refers to a hillside and represents the highest terrain in the vicinity. Ford by the erosion of running water, natural gullies erged, and the area from the bottom of the gully to the slope naturally beca a wall, advantageous for defense from a high position and difficult to assault.

Hence, this settlent was nad Highland City, the only one among the four settlents that had a na.

However, the highlands had their disadvantages; the terrain was uneven, water collection was challenging, and soil erosion was severe, making it unsuitable for cultivation. Thus, the population here was the smallest.

But after the retreat of the Divine Light Alliance, everything changed, with safety becoming the top priority. Residents from other settlents continuously fled here.

Furthermore, Highland City already had a granary with ample food supply, leading to a crazy increase in its population. Nearly ten thousand people gathered here, the only settlent still maintaining order.

This information was extracted from the mory of the leader of the eastern settlent by Anthony. That leader had now beco a Zombie, shuffling along at the back of the pack. The leader had previously attempted to attack Highland City to plunder food and people, but was quickly beaten back without even making it up the slope.

However, Anthony was still worried; a month had gone by, and he knew all too clearly the kind of disaster that the chaos following such a dramatic change could bring. The last settlent was a very tragic example.

Lost in thought, Anthony suddenly noticed so movent ahead. He looked forward and saw a figure appearing on the ridge ahead, gazing intently in his direction from afar.

Eh? A sentry? This was a good sign; the ability to dispatch sentries indicated that so organizational structure was still in place. With organization, there would be less chaos, and so severe calamities could be avoided.

Of course, if the leader was a brute, then they might fall into another kind of severe state—organized chaos. However, that situation was very rare and unlikely to appear in a short ti in such a place.

Anthony quickly ordered the Undead to halt, while he himself strode forward. He had covered a considerable distance before the person on the other side startled and quickly dropped to the ground.

It seed the sentry stood there brazenly, not because of boldness, but because he couldn’t see anyone and thought others couldn’t see him either.

Anthony hurriedly called out, “Hello there, friend in front, I’m from the eastern settlent. Do you have any food?”

The person standing opposite shouted back, “Stop there, I’ll go call for soone. Just wait.” Then, he turned and ran back.

Anthony murmured in surprise, “A lone sentry?”

When Anthony reached the slope, he confird it was indeed a single sentry. Aside from the guard he had just seen, there were no others around—there must be no covert sentries, otherwise they couldn’t have escaped Anthony’s perception.

It was an amusing and sowhat exasperating situation—far too amateurish. Without both visible and hidden sentries, and at the very least a duo, once one leaves to report, the post would be effectively unmanned.

It was likely that they had never encountered a situation that required running back in the middle of the night before, nor a professional stealth attack.

Before long, five figures ca running down from the slope. From afar, upon seeing Anthony, they called out, “Are you from the east? How did you get here? What’s the situation on your side?”

As these people approached, Anthony frowned. They were all Swordsn, and moreover, they were Chaos Power Swordsn.

Having been here for several days, Anthony had co to understand what was special about the people here; nearly every human inherently possessed the Power of Chaos, making them extrely formidable.

Hearing that even Your Majesty had suffered losses here, as for what kind, Negris did not say. He just rubbed his toes together in front of Ange and made a swindler’s gesture.

Anthony refrained from asking further questions as intended; knowing that Your Majesty had suffered was enough. Knowing too much could be detrintal, serving no purpose other than satisfying his curiosity and potentially infuriating Your Majesty.

Negris was oblivious to this fact, but it didn’t need to care anymore. With Ange’s protection and Your Majesty’s favor, it let itself go.

Although aware that Your Majesty had suffered losses, which ntally prepared him, Anthony was still shocked during his visit to the eastern settlent in the afternoon. Even the most basic Chaos Power Swordsman had the ability to breach his defenses, and he couldn’t withstand the energy blade generated by the Power of Chaos.

If it were Swordsman from the Chaos Plane, those of primary and interdiate levels wouldn’t be able to penetrate his defenses; he could stand still and they wouldn’t be able to touch him.

This was the biggest difference between Swordsn from the two places. Nevertheless, their martial techniques were equally poor, so Anthony picked up his long-unused martial technique and dispatched them easily as if slicing through vegetables.

The four Swordsn before him now also wielded the Power of Chaos, but they emanated a much stronger aura than those from the eastern settlent, likely at the level of High-level Sword Fighters. Moreover, they moved with practiced coordination, always keeping their leader at the center, making their advance and retreats efficient and effortless.

Anthony responded, “So people from an airship attacked us over there. In the afternoon, an Airship suddenly landed at the farm outside, and then a group charged in, slaughtering and looting all the food before leaving. We have nothing to eat, so we ca to see if you might offer us shelter?”

“How many are you?” The group of five finally arrived at the beam, sizing up Anthony while asking.

Anthony shook his head, “I don’t know. We all ran over here without counting. I’m not sure how many there are. To avoid attracting attention, they stayed below and sent up to report.”

“You seem well-fed and unscarred, not like soone who has suffered or starved. Have you consud that thing?” The leading Swordsman scrutinized Anthony.

Anthony knew exactly what ‘that thing’ referred to and quickly shook his head, “No, no, not at all, never.”

“Don’t lie. If you have eaten it, the Ghost will sll it. Don’t move, stand still.” As he spoke, the leading Swordsman took out a box and upon opening it, a Ghost erged, “Don’t move. Let the Ghost sniff you. If you haven’t eaten it, we’ll shelter you.”

Anthony curiously examined the Ghost, finding it strange that it carried a faint scent of Chaos Mist.

The Ghost floated over, sniffed Anthony, and then imdiately scread and darted back into the box.

Clang, clang, clang—Everyone drew their Longswords, then, bewildered, looked towards the leading Swordsman, who, just as confused, looked at the box and asked, “What’s wrong with the Ghost?”

A ssage erged from the box: Fear…

“What does that an? What is the Ghost afraid of? This reaction is wrong. Has he eaten it or not?” The leading Swordsman said cluelessly.

Only Anthony knew what the Ghost feared—the Holy Light. Just as he was about to speak, a roar suddenly ca from behind, “Idiots! He’s deceiving you; those at the base of the mountain aren’t alive, they’re all Undead.”

Anthony turned his head to look, startled to find that the Undead stationed at the bottom of the mountain were surging up like a tide without his command, and amidst this ‘tide,’ a puff of smoke was slowly floating up.

A face erged within the smoke, mouthing words—it was clearly the one who cursed ‘idiots’, and he had also taken Anthony’s control over the Undead, directing them to rush at Anthony.

But what shocked Anthony the most was that this puff of smoke was purple: “A Mourning Undead Soul?”
