Chapter 1022: Chapter 591: The King Above is Not Their King Chapter 1022: Chapter 591: The King Above is Not Their King Although these two skeletons were only at the Gold Level, their souls showed signs of breaking through to beco Mourning Souls. With sheer Soul Strength, they were incredibly formidable, stronger than even Chairman Gust himself.

When they unleashed their Soul Impact simultaneously, the power it generated gave Gust such a headache that he urgently shouted, “Spiritual Barrier!”

Unfortunately, he was too late. The Soul Impact hit the Black Horse before the barrier could be erected … and … nothing happened …

The two mighty Soul Impacts dissipated as if they were clay bulls pushed into the sea, vanishing without a trace.

“You gave a scare there. You had already put up a Spiritual Barrier, eh? Good, good,” Gust said with relief.

Ange cocked his head; no, they hadn’t, but the Black Horse was linked with Anthony through a Soul Contact, and Anthony was in turn linked with him, all within the sa Soul Network. So ultimately, those two Gold Skeletons’ Soul Impacts ended up affecting him.

His soul felt a bit swollen, but it quickly subsided.

The others had expected this outco and weren’t worried in the slightest. With the Undead God by their side, how could they be shaken by re Soul Impacts? What actually surprised them was the Black Horse’s impressive banter skills, “What’s going on? Possessed by Lightning?”

“Hmph!” The Black Horse snorted arrogantly, shaking its mane, black energy elegantly flowing. “Lightning? That’s nothing. One day, the world will only rember my renown!”

Anthony explained with an embarrassed grin, “After Lightning cursed it out last ti, it’s been morizing Lightning’s quotes and various sarcasm techniques every day. It hasn’t mastered ‘sarcasm through facial expression’ yet, but it’s almost caught up with Lightning.”

“Kvada, then we’re dood. It can spend endless ti piling words to a terrifying degree, berating us for three to five years without repeating itself,” Durken lanted imdiately.

“No, no, Lightning’s quotes aren’t that abundant. At most two hours without repetition. Now, I dare not collect those things for it anymore. Who do you think it learned to mock first?” Anthony said with a wry smile.

Their quiet discussion piqued Gust’s strong curiosity, “Who’s Lightning?”

“Oh, it’s a terrible shadow that’s long gone but still looms over our souls,” Anthony deftly explained. He certainly couldn’t tell Gust that it was a unicorn skilled in cursing, not in this Plane where no unicorns exist.

“Oh, fearso, shadow, looming, departed. I understand,” Gust nodded in comprehension.

Nobody knew exactly what he understood until many years later, soone found his notes that read: The departed shadow, the fearso Ancient God, the terrifying Lightning.

“Alright, we can now confirm that these two Gold Skeletons are intelligent. So, what should we do? Feed them to a dog? I know a hellhound that’s superb at gnawing bones, I could summon it over,” Anthony ‘loudly’ said to Gust beside him.

Gust was initially stunned but quickly caught on and ‘loudly’ replied, “A hellhound? That legendary creature with an abyss-like stomach and a dinsional throat, capable of devouring anything?”

“Exactly, that one. Do you want to summon it, Your Majesty?”

While they chatted, the two Gold Skeletons had already unleashed several Soul Impacts; it was the only attack they could manage at the mont.

But for those guards protected by the Undead God, Soul Impacts were no more effective than ‘death by glaring.’ It was Gust who had to reinforce the Spiritual Barrier several tis. Just when he wondered why Ange’s group didn’t add any Spiritual Barriers but still easily withstood the Soul Impacts, Ange ‘leisurely’ put up a few Spiritual Barriers around everyone.

Anthony silently heaved a sigh of relief; the Little Yellow Dragon’s ability to reinforce their defenses was indeed useful.

And so, with back-and-forth banter, including the Black Horse’s taunts, the two Gold Skeletons were verbally exhausted into submission.

It wasn’t until they were too tired to launch any more Soul Impacts that Ange brought them down, securely tying them up with rope; they wouldn’t be breaking free before their souls recovered.

Gust was astounded, “This is the first ti I’ve seen such a clever thod of combat, defeating the enemy with words. It’s truly incredible.”

Their faces inadvertently showed a ‘you really don’t get out much’ expression, except for Anthony, who ‘humbly’ comnted, “Haha, Chairman Gust, you flatter us. These are just so tricks. If it were you, you could’ve taken them down directly, no need for talk.”

After exchanging so pleasantries, Anthony finally said, “Chairman, shall we interrogate them together?”

“Interrogate? Is that really okay? They might be His Majesty’s guards. It wouldn’t be good to be too rough, right?” Gust hesitated as he spoke.

Anthony’s expression changed imdiately, “Heh-heh, Chairman Gust, co here, co on, over here.”

They walked a short distance away, waiting until the Golden Skeletons were out of sight before stopping. Then Anthony diverted the topic, “This cave has such an odd shape, is there sothing special about it?”

“Oh, it should be so kind of Multi-dinsional Stacking Technology. I heard His Majesty ntion it briefly, but I’ve never been here myself,” Gust replied with so confusion as to why he was dragged over here just to discuss this question, but still patiently answered.

“Wow, that sounds very advanced! Chairman, have you had your al yet? Uh, no no, what I an is, what kind of cuisine did you enjoy when you were alive?” Anthony imdiately switched to an even less reliable topic.

Just then, a mournful wail of souls ca from a distance.

Gust’s expression changed, looking at Anthony, “You guys…”

“Oh, it’s probably just so souls arguing. Don’t worry about it, Chairman. Let’s continue discussing the cuisine from various places,” Anthony said.

“But…” Gust finally realized what was happening. Although he himself had been known to turn a blind eye and deaf ear on occasion, this was just too blatant on Anthony’s part.

Anthony spoke in a lower voice, “If you don’t want to wait until His Majesty’s return to find out everything, then just pretend you haven’t heard anything now. Later, if His Majesty asks, you can say it was Kent’s doing.”

Gust’s eyes lit up, ‘suddenly understanding’: “Oh, so they’re arguing. There really are all sorts of people among Kent’s folks. I quite enjoy barbecue myself.”

“Oh? Barbecue? Then you’ve got to use spices. What kind of spices do you like?” Anthony asked.

“Spices? Salt? Isn’t it just about rubbing so salt and then grilling?” Gust was a bit confused, though it had been hundreds of years since he last had barbecue, he still rembered how to grill.

“Oh, that thod is way outdated now. You must use spices. First, marinate with salt, oil, ginger, wear ski resistant, and while grilling, keep brushing on the oil. The heat roasts the at, forcing the fats out, and when it starts to sizzle, that’s when you sprinkle on more spices…”

Gust swallowed reflexively, but he’s undead; he couldn’t swallow anything: “Although I’ve never tried that kind of grilling thod, it sounds so delicious. Too bad I’m undead and can’t eat it.”

“Heh, there’ll be a chance, there will be. If you’re looking to buy spices, you can find this, and use my na for a ninety-five percent discount,” Anthony said aningfully, handing him a card.

The undead that had retreated into the tunnel, seeing that Gust hadn’t returned, gathered their courage to run back. From afar, seeing Gust and hearing the wails, they quickly asked, “What’s going on? What happened?”

“It’s nothing, it’s nothing. Just a couple of skeletal undead arguing, don’t mind them. Co on, let’s talk, what did you all like to eat when you were alive?” Gust swiftly intercepted them, shifting the subject.

Are you kidding? Arguing with such heartbreaking and mournful screams?

But since Gust had said so, no one felt it right to question him. Those who wanted to investigate were held back, forced to talk about what they used to enjoy eating until about fifteen minutes later, when things finally quieted down over there.

Anthony peeked over, then gestured for everyone to co over, and that’s when they saw two low-key Golden Skeletons standing to the side.

Anthony asked Durken in a whisper, “What happened?”

“Pumled the soul for quite a while, but it wouldn’t yield. Later, after the Lord showed its phalanges, they gave in. They must be His Majesty’s direct kin,” Durken replied in a low voice.

“Oh? So, did you get anything out of them?”

“Yes,” Durken quietly said, “The king upstairs isn’t their king.”
