"Yin Li has been searching the world for places where ancient Demonic Qi once lingered, attempting to activate it and then spread it across the entire world—this is the Demonic Qi tide. The ergence of the tide would imdiately drive all ordinary people affected by the Demonic Qi mad. Soon after, it would begin to enhance the strength of Martial Artists. When a Martial Artist's True Qi is completely transford into Demonic Qi, they too go insane, becoming incredibly bloodthirsty!"
Mister Mu continued, "And the Demonic Qi within these Martial Artists is known as Secondary Demonic Essence."
"Yin Li is now searching the world for remnants of Demonic Qi, trying to trigger a Demonic Qi tide and cause widespread casualties among ordinary people."
"In addition, with Ye Yunfeng and Yin Ping's research into Secondary Demonic Essence, a group of Martial Artists is trying to take shortcuts through what they call Martial Path technology, causing us a great deal of trouble."
With that, Mister Mu sighed. "That's why we must race against ti. You have to grow stronger as quickly as possible and find your way to the peak."
"Only then can you truly wield the Dragon Vein and, as recorded in the Han Sect Scriptures, 'With the authority of the sovereign, awaken the hidden Dragon Essence of the world,' eradicating all the Demonic Qi from this world!"
"But if you're not fast enough, even if your master can repeatedly prevent the Demonic Qi tide from arising, by that ti, due to Ye Yunfeng's Martial Path technology, Secondary Demonic Essence will have already spread everywhere."
"By then, even if you awaken the world's Dragon Essence, this world will have already beco a hellscape where life has been devastated."
...
Hearing Mister Mu's words, Xu Ke's heart sank.
He knew his mission would be heavy.
He just hadn't expected it to be *this* heavy.
"However, don't feel too pressured. Ti isn't as tight as you might think; you have about half a year left," Mister Mu said with a smile.
At these words, the relief that had just begun to form on Xu Ke's face imdiately froze.
Damn it. Half a year to break through to the peak? And that's not considered tight?
Xu Ke imdiately felt stifled.
Mister Mu chuckled. "When you regained your mory last month, we didn't tell you these things because your Dragon Essence hadn't yet been exposed to Yin Li. That's why you were able to cultivate in secret for two months."
"Now, Yin Li most likely knows you possess Dragon Essence, so you must be very careful!"
...
Xu Ke nodded, his expression forlorn. "I understand."
Great! A tight schedule and a heavy task are one thing, but based on Mister Mu's implication, that damn Yin Li definitely isn't giving up on the idea of killing first. This is like being attacked from all sides.
Seeing the imnse pressure on Xu Ke, Mister Mu smiled and turned to Wong Qifu. "Qifu, as for the Demonic Qi inside you, I need to explain a few things."
"Mhm." Wong Qifu nodded slightly, a rare hint of nervousness showing on her beautiful face.
"First of all, your parents are not dead," Mister Mu began slowly.
Upon hearing this, Wong Qifu's expression instantly changed, her forrly somber deanor lting into surprise and disbelief. "Really?"
She had once believed her parents had died right in front of her, and that she would never see them again. Who would have thought they were still alive! This ant the bodies she had seen back then were fakes!
"Really!" Mister Mu nodded. "But your parents are still in a coma. The accumulation of Demonic Qi in their bodies is so severe that it has forced them to slumber in the imperial tomb, awaiting the mont the Dragon Vein is reactivated and all Demonic Qi in the world is eliminated."
"Too severe? What does that an?" Wong Qifu's gaze faltered. Hearing that her parents were still in a coma, her heart instantly tightened.
At this, Mister Mu's eyes dimd, and he sighed. "Before we obtained the Han Sect Scriptures, we decided to conduct an experint to experience the power of Demonic Qi firsthand."
"The final result of the draw was that your father beca a test subject. Your mother, in order to follow him, beca a test subject as well."
"This is how we were able to obtain detailed experience on how to battle the Demon Race."
"It's because your parents made the most tragic, yet greatest, of decisions!"
Wong Qifu's hands had clenched so tightly they turned white.
Xu Ke gently took her hand, remaining silent.
"This is also why your father wore that ring. It wasn't to suppress so bullshit luck, but to fight against the Demonic Qi raging inside his body!" Mister Mu said. "The reason you carry so much Demonic Qi is that when your mother gave birth to you, all of her Demonic Qi entered your body. She shed so many tears over this; I saw it with my own eyes."
"But fortunately, the Demonic Qi in your body is as docile as a child, as if it were a part of you from birth. This makes you seem no different from an ordinary mber of the Demon Race..."
"That is why we were able to buy enough ti to find a solution for you."
"From this, we've also concluded that an important reason the Demon Race triggers the Demonic Qi tide and creates Secondary Demonic Essence is likely to have ordinary humans give birth to new mbers of the 'Demon Race' for them."
As soon as these words were spoken, both Wong Qifu and Xu Ke were stunned.
Mister Mu hadn't spelled it out, but they both understood.
Isn't he just saying that Wong Qifu is essentially a mber of the Demon Race?
As if seeing through their thoughts, Mister Mu chuckled. "Don't look at like that. Rest assured, Qifu doesn't count as one of the Demon Race."
"A true mber of the Demon Race could never get close to Dragon Essence. Qifu is fundantally still a human... just one who can use Demonic Qi to fight."
"So, Xu Ke, you can still save her!"
At these words, Wong Qifu breathed a sigh of relief.
Xu Ke didn't care whether she was a mber of the Demon Race or not, but she herself did. She was terrified of what would happen if the child she had with Xu Ke turned out to be one of them.
Knowing she was still human, Wong Qifu finally felt her heart settle.
Then, hope ignited within her. As long as she could wait for the mont Xu Ke awakened the Dragon Vein, her parents could return.
"By the way, does Yan Xuehai know about these things?" Xu Ke suddenly thought of sothing and asked.
The Demon Race was rampant, but they had never been able to best Ren Gu, which was a testant to the terrifying power of a Peak Level Maestro.
If Yan Xuehai knew about all this and was willing to act, wouldn't the likes of Yin Li and Yin Ping be killed on the spot?
But upon hearing Xu Ke's question, Mister Mu let out a cold laugh. "Him?"
"Heh!"
"Forget it!"
At his words, Xu Ke and Wong Qifu were both stunned, their expressions changing drastically. "He's... a traitor?"
They assud that was the aning behind Mister Mu's scorn.
But Mister Mu shook his head. "If he were a traitor, I'd at least respect him for it."
"But he's just a coward."
"The Dragon Vein is located in Long Capital, and the key is in Yan Xuehai's hands."
"Back then, we wanted to check the Dragon Vein to see if there were any other ways to awaken it. But when Yan Xuehai learned your master intended to go inside, he staunchly refused to hand over the key. He believed your master would find a way to beco even more powerful... which is utterly ludicrous!"
"He has a paranoid, almost maddening hostility towards your master. The older he gets, the more stubborn he becos; he's the perfect embodint of it."
"That's why we don't want to find him, and we dare not approach him. We even had to use our entire intelligence network—the forces your master once established—to erase all intelligence concerning Demonic Qi, just to keep Yan Xuehai in the dark about what we're doing."
"Of course, a secret like this can't be kept forever."
"Besides, the world is vast, and we aren't gods; we can't truly stop him from finding out."
"Therefore, we speculate that Yan Xuehai and his disciple, Wong Ting, have probably already been in contact with Demonic Qi in secret, perhaps even starting their own research, just like Ye Yunfeng."
"It's only because of the extrely poor relationship between Yan Xuehai and your master that we are currently unaware of what's happening on their side."
Hearing all this, Xu Ke fell into deep thought…
