Seeing how agitated the passersby were, Xu Ke laughed.
Goodness, are they afraid people won't know they're hired actors?
The last ti Siao Jia had cornered him downstairs in the urban village, supposedly righteous bystanders had also accused him. It was only later that he found out they were all hired actors. The reaction of these "bystanders" was exactly the sa as the ones who had accused him of dostic violence against Siao Jia. It basically confird they were hired actors, too.
Xu Ke shook his head, pondering. Who would go to such lengths to set up at a ti like this?
...
Seeing the crowd berating them for being inhumane, Chen Haiming grew even more panicked and whispered urgently to Duan Jia, "Jia, should we call the police?"
"Don't call the police. Don't blow this out of proportion," Duan Jia said, shaking his head.
"Then should we get our people to drive them away?"
Duan Jia frowned. "That's even worse!"
Chen Haiming's face turned pale. "There are so many people. What if they go crazy? Can we handle it?"
They looked at the crowd, knowing a few of the ringleaders were actors while the rest were genuine onlookers drawn by the commotion. If a real fight broke out, Xu Ke and his n would be the ones to suffer.
Seeing this, Duan Jia shook his head, stepped forward, and said to the crowd, "I'm the one who's inhumane. The doctors at the dical hall are all good doctors. Please do not falsely accuse them."
Duan Jia wasn't concerned about these accusations against himself; he just didn't want Xu Ke's reputation to be tarnished.
Just as soone in the crowd was about to speak—
"Ouch..."
At that mont, the old woman cried out, her voice filled with sorrow.
"Dear, are you alright?" the old man imdiately grew anxious.
"I... I'm in so much pain!" the old woman's voice was full of misery.
Seeing this, the bystanders grew even angrier. "Where the hell are the doctors?"
"Do you believe we'll smash up this dical hall?"
"Co out already!"
The crowd was furious.
Seeing this, Xu Ke knew he couldn't just observe any longer. He forced his way through the crowd and called out loudly, "Where's the patient?"
Duan Jia's eyes lit up when he saw Xu Ke appear.
When Chen Haiming and Dongfang Mingliang saw their backbone arrive, they nearly burst into tears as if they had just seen their own father. Neither of them had ever encountered a situation like this before.
"Who are you?"
The first reaction from the bystanders was skepticism.
"I am a doctor at this dical hall," Xu Ke said calmly, his gaze already resting on the elderly couple.
At his words, the crowd mbers exchanged glances. How could soone so young open a dical hall? He probably doesn't even have enough years of practice, does he?
"Hey, are you a scamr?"
"Stop pretending to be a doctor! Did the real doctors send you out to take the fall because they don't want to co out?"
"Hurry up and call your doctors out!" soone in the crowd shouted.
They simply couldn't believe that soone as young as Xu Ke could be a doctor.
But Xu Ke didn't respond to them. Instead, he looked at the elderly couple. "They say I'm not a doctor. Should I leave?"
It's obvious these two ca looking for . There's no way they'd let the bystanders actually chase away.
As expected, the old man's eyes flashed. He coughed a few tis before pleading, "If you're a doctor, please, co take a look at my wife. She can't hold on much longer."
Murky tears welled in the old man's eyes, and he seed on the verge of crying.
Seeing this, the bystanders pressed him again. "Are you a doctor or not?"
"If you are, then hurry up and help!"
"Stop dawdling! Are you just going to waste ti here?"
The crowd kept criticizing Xu Ke.
Xu Ke smiled and pulled out his dical license. "Of course I'm a doctor. But how can I treat and save people if you don't let through?"
At this, the crowd reluctantly parted to make way for him.
Xu Ke approached the patient, glanced at the suffering old woman, and said to the old man, "Are you sure you want her examined out here? The inside isn't renovated yet, so I can only treat her at the door."
After speaking, Xu Ke looked at the old man with a knowing smile.
The old man was stunned for a mont before replying, "A life is at stake! Please, just take a look!"
"Alright!"
Xu Ke nodded, then waved to Duan Jia and the other two. "You guys go on inside."
He was indicating that he could handle the situation on his own.
The three turned and went back in, with Duan Jia glancing back worriedly every few steps.
Inside, many renovation workers peeked out, clearly curious to see how skilled Xu Ke was in dicine.
Then, Xu Ke turned back to the onlookers and said coldly, "Disperse. How can I treat her with all of you crowding around?"
At this, a middle-aged woman reeking of cheap perfu, who seed to be a ringleader, spoke up unhappily. "If we leave, who knows if you'll actually treat them?"
"Exactly!"
"Besides, you don't have any equipnt. How are you going to treat her?"
"If you ask , you're a scamr!"
The crowd continued to accuse Xu Ke.
Seeing this, Xu Ke laughed and looked at the middle-aged woman in front. "Unsteady footsteps, a white coating on your tongue, and a pale face. You have a deficiency of kidney qi, an imbalance of yin and yang, and internal chaos causing external disorder. I presu it's been a long ti since you've been intimate with anyone, hasn't it?"
"And be careful. Your husband might have soone on the side!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the middle-aged woman's face turned green. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
But the crowd's eyes widened. Judging by her reaction, could he actually be right?
Xu Ke continued, "Don't shout so loudly. You'll disturb the patient."
"Also, try drinking a tea blend with Yin Root and Bi Lan Zi. It'll help with your body odor. You've had that sll for over a decade, haven't you?"
"What's the point of masking it with so much perfu?!"
The mont he finished, the middle-aged woman's face turned the color of a pig's liver. Completely exposed and humiliated, she turned and hurried away from the crowd.
Everyone was stunned. They hadn't expected Xu Ke to be so capable. In less than a minute, he had diagnosed the woman's ailnts.
At once, they began to believe that Xu Ke could indeed treat illnesses even empty-handed.
Soone imdiately started shouting, "Divine Doctor, Divine Doctor, take a look at ..."
But Xu Ke rebuked them, "All of you, back away. I still have a patient to see."
"Yes!"
Only then did they rember that they had gathered here in the first place to help the old woman get a doctor.
With that thought, the crowd slowly backed away.
But they still watched from a short distance... They weren't actually very concerned about whether Xu Ke would cure the old woman; they were just hoping he would examine them after he was done.
Once the crowd had backed away, Xu Ke finally turned his attention to the elderly couple.
The old man still had tears in his eyes. "Divine Doctor, please, hurry and take a look at my wife..."
But Xu Ke simply smiled. "Alright. Now tell , who sent you?"
At his words, both of them froze. The old man said in bewildernt, "No... nobody sent us..."
Xu Ke kept his distance. "I've never seen anyone remain conscious in a wheelchair after being poisoned with Hundred-Year Spider Poison."
"Who are you?"
The mont he spoke, the couple's expressions changed instantly.
