Evelyn Clayton slept for another two hours and it was still not nine o’clock when she woke up.
When she walked out of the room, Jas Grant was drinking coffee.
Seeing her co over, Jas Grant raised an eyebrow, "Want a cup?"
"No, thank you."
She didn’t like drinking such bitter things early in the morning.
"Then I’ll make you a cup of black tea."
"No need to bother—"
Before she finished speaking, Jas Grant had already gone to the kitchen.
She had to sit by the window and enjoy the sun.
The last ti she ca, she didn’t notice that there were a few potted plants on Jas Grant’s balcony, all variously shaped succulents.
It was a bit of a cute contrast that Jas Grant would keep such plump and round things.
"Succulents are easy to care for, no need to fuss," Jas Grant placed the black tea in front of her and cautioned, "Be careful, it’s hot."
"I thought you wouldn’t like plants."
"Not really, just find it troubleso."
Evelyn knew that good succulents weren’t cheap, so she just glanced at them without daring to touch.
"You can touch them if you want," Jas Grant caught her intention and pushed the succulent towards her.
This was an invitation from the owner of the succulent, so Evelyn extended a finger to poke the plant, her eyes narrowing with a smile.
The sunlight outlined her delicate profile on her face, the smiling crescent eyes softening her usual coldness, making her look much gentler.
Jas Grant slightly curved his lips, "Feeling better now?"
"Hmm!"
"Then can you tell why you went to The Black Moon last night?"
Evelyn’s expression changed at the ntion of The Black Moon.
Noticing her change, Jas Grant raised an eyebrow.
"Is it inconvenient to say?"
Evelyn hesitated.
If she told Jas about the photograph, he’d probably help her, making the investigation much easier.
But what if Jas wasn’t willing to help?
Seeing her indecision, Jas Grant didn’t press further.
"If it’s inconvenient, forget it. I could save you this ti, but maybe not next ti. You’re on your own."
With that, Jas Grant got up to leave.
Evelyn imdiately grabbed his sleeve.
"I went to investigate a photograph."
"What photograph?" Jas Grant looked down at her.
"Yes. That day soone sent a ssage with a photo of my dad when he was alive, telling to go to The Black Moon Club if I wanted to know the truth, so that’s why I went."
"Where’s the photo? Let see."
"The ssage disappeared, and I can’t find it no matter how I search."
Jas Grant frowned slightly and was about to speak when he suddenly received a call from Keith Donovan.
"I’ve found those people’s contact information, and I’ve arranged a place for you to et them. You should head over. So things are better discussed in person."
"Hmm."
Jas Grant agreed to this point, but whether to bring Evelyn along was another matter.
Noticing his hesitation, Evelyn was puzzled, "What’s wrong?"
"I’ve tracked down that group of people. I’m going to et them now."
Upon hearing this, Evelyn’s eyes brightened, "I’m going too."
Whether for revenge or to uncover the truth behind the photo, she had to go.
Jas Grant walked to the sofa, picked up a bag, and handed it to her.
"Go change your clothes. This is new, and I’ve already washed it for you."
Evelyn nodded to him in gratitude.
The clothes matched her usual style, and even the size was perfect.
"How much, I’ll transfer the money to you."
"I never charge when I give won sothing."
Hearing this, Evelyn’s eyebrows subtly furrowed.
She could only attribute it to Jas Grant’s streak of masculinity.
"But you give them things because you want to sleep with them. I have no intention of—"
