Blake Carter’s words were like a stab to Silas Sinclair’s heart.
Silas Sinclair’s expression instantly turned icy.
A hint of coldness also flickered in Shane Sinclair’s eyes as he coolly looked at Blake.
"Uncle Carter, no matter what, our families have been friends for generations, your words are a bit harsh," Shane spoke calmly, "Little Ann used to call you Uncle."
Blake put on a sour face and snorted indifferently, "It’s precisely because Little Ann called Uncle that I need to get things straight! Little Ann never got into the board when she was alive, and now out of nowhere cos Shannon Sinclair, claiming to be a Sinclair and now taking shares! I know it’s been hard on Pauline since Little Ann’s passing, but this doesn’t an you can acknowledge anyone as your daughter."
"Carter, are you intending to fall out publicly at the eting?" Silas shot a cold glance at Blake.
There was a visible hesitation in Blake’s expression, but he quickly regained his resolve.
He opened his mouth to say sothing, but Evelyn Clayton interrupted the tense atmosphere with a light laugh.
A hint of anger crept onto Blake’s face as he looked at Evelyn, "What’s so funny?"
"Nothing, Director Carter, I just want to ease your anger." Evelyn stood up, ca to Blake, and personally offered him a glass of water, "Father and brother didn’t make things clear earlier. How about this, give ten minutes to introduce myself, how does that sound?"
Evelyn’s attitude was very courteous, and as the saying goes, one should not hit a smiling face; Evelyn was offering Blake a dignified and respectful way out in front of everyone, so naturally, Blake couldn’t say much more.
Seeing Blake purse his lips in silence, Evelyn smiled, returned to her seat, and looked at the others—
"Ladies and gentlen, I am Shannon Sinclair. It’s fair to say I am also a daughter of the Sinclair family, but as Director Sinclair just ntioned, that’s legally speaking, so strictly speaking, I am only an adopted daughter."
The mont Evelyn finished speaking, not only were the shareholders shocked, but even May widened her eyes in disbelief.
Winnie Wyatt was already sowhat dazed, staring blankly at Evelyn.
"As for my original identity, it’s actually not important; what matters is that my surna is Sinclair now and will be Sinclair in the future. I have a five-year-old daughter who has always been raised by my parents under the Sinclair na. The 15% shares I hold will naturally pass on to her, aning it all remains within the Sinclair family."
Evelyn paused, then smiled gracefully at Blake, "Although I don’t know why Uncle Carter is not optimistic about or why he doesn’t want in the board of directors, at least I can promise that the Sinclair family’s kindness to over the years, and the help from my father and brother allowed to live until today. I will always be grateful, and everything I’ve received from them, I will reciprocate double in the future, and never for my own gain."
Having said that, Evelyn looked cheerfully at Blake, "Uncle Carter, would that set your mind at ease?"
Blake seed at a loss for words and remained silent for quite so ti.
"Since Uncle Carter isn’t speaking, I’ll take it as your approval." Evelyn smiled gently, "Does anyone else have any objections?"
Shane watched Evelyn, his eyes filled with pride.
But unlike Shane, aside from being proud of Evelyn, he also felt an inexplicable concern.
He had a constant feeling that Evelyn’s words carried a deeper aning.
As if her presence in the Sinclair family was only temporary.
Once she completed what she needed to do and repaid her debts, she would leave imdiately.
