Hearing this, Yara Reagan’s tense nerves finally relaxed.

After the doctor left, Yara leaned against the wall, exhausted, squatting to the ground and covering her face, she remained silent for a long ti.

Evelyn Clayton felt very upset as well.

No one had expected sothing so dreadful to occur.

She composed herself and made a phone call to Shane Sinclair.

It wasn’t answered for a long ti, so Evelyn figured Shane must be busy and hung up, entering the hospital room with Yara.

On the hospital bed, Iris Lockwood lay asleep, her slightly furrowed brows and pale complexion made her appear all the more pitiable, and the fingerprints clear on her face made it hard for people to continue looking.

Evelyn bit her lip slightly, her eyes turning red once more.

With trembling hands, she gently caressed the marks on Iris’s face.

Yara sat to the side, unable to hold back her tears, which fell silently.

"I didn’t protect her well enough," Yara said in a muffled voice, her voice trembling fiercely, "She’s even younger than , I should have—"

Evelyn felt a bitter taste in her throat, and said hoarsely, "This ti, it’s my fault."

Yara, eyes brimming with tears, looked at Evelyn, confused.

"You two have no enemies in Aethelburg, how could Iris...?" Evelyn’s hand clenched slightly, gripping her palm tightly, "I suspect that person has already noticed my presence. Doing this is just to warn ."

Who in Aethelburg has such omnipotent power, to kidnap a living person in broad daylight to a shopping mall corridor and humiliate them this way?

And this person, specifically targeted Iris Lockwood...

Evelyn found it hard not to suspect that this was the handiwork of Arthur Chandler.

Shortly after Evelyn’s words fell, the hospital room door was knocked on.

The person who ca was precisely Tristan Hawthorne.

He entered with a solemn look, his expression turned even gloomier upon seeing the person lying in the hospital bed.

Tristan was about to ask the reason, but seeing Yara’s teary face and Evelyn’s restrained expression, he swallowed his words.

"I’ve already asked soone to retrieve the surveillance footage, I believe there will be results soon," Tristan said softly, "Don’t worry, I will make sure she gets justice."

Silently, Yara took a deep breath, wiped away the tears from her face, and forced a smile towards Tristan.

"Thank you, Mr. Hawthorne. We’re not in a convenient position to send you off right now. Once Iris is better, I will personally visit to thank you."

This was a polite dismissal, Tristan realized, and nodding, he turned and left.

Outside the door, Keith Donovan was waiting.

"How is it?" Keith asked, a little nervous, "Did sothing really happen?"

Tristan pursed his lips, "She hasn’t woken up yet, so I can’t inquire about the details, but judging by her condition, it looks like she’s just in a coma, nothing too serious."

Keith breathed a sigh of relief, "As long as she’s okay."

The two left the hospital and saw Jas Grant’s car.

Keith saw it, curled his lip, "I’m not going up, you go."

Tristan had no choice, "How long are you and Jas going to stay upset with each other?"

Keith didn’t want to explain more, "Don’t bother with it, just go."

Tristan had no choice but to get into Jas Grant’s car alone.

In the car, Jas and Tristan sat side by side in the back, Jas looked through the window at the Keith leaving, his expression calm.

Tristan gauged his mood, and joked, "What, are you thinking of reconciling with Keith?"

Jas neither affird nor denied, then asked about what concerned him the most.

"How are things on their end?"
