Just as Keith Donovan was about to speak, a voice suddenly ca from behind him.
"Young Master Donovan."
The voice sounded very calm, yet it was familiar to Keith.
Keith turned around and t a pair of cold, emotionless eyes.
Looking at the person in front of him, Keith was even a bit stunned. After a mont, he responded, "Evelyn—"
He was certain this person was Evelyn Clayton, yet she felt quite unfamiliar.
The woman before him had slightly curled long hair, her plain face was exquisitely beautiful, and her deep gray coat highlighted her extrely slender figure.
In Keith’s mory, Evelyn Clayton had always been cool and collected, but not quite like this, as if she had lost a lot of her vitality.
Perhaps as she matured, her phoenix eyes beca even more composed, and as she quietly gazed at Keith, he felt an inexplicable unease.
At this mont, a nurse had already approached Evelyn Clayton, scanning Keith with a suspicious look while asking Evelyn—
"Miss Shen, is this your friend?"
Miss Shen?!
Keith beca even more bewildered.
Evelyn’s lips curved slightly in a symbolic arc, nodding, "Yes. Could you please check on Sharon, her IV bag needs changing."
The nurse complied and left, and Evelyn then turned her gaze back to Keith.
Keith opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Evelyn calmly said, "There’s a café outside the hospital, shall we talk there, Young Master Donovan?"
"Ah, okay."
Keith left the hospital with Evelyn.
After crossing the street and sitting down inside the café, Keith’s shocked emotions finally sowhat cald down.
During their walk, neither he nor Evelyn spoke, and the atmosphere was so awkward that even soone as outgoing as Keith felt uncomfortable.
"One espresso, please."
Evelyn ordered coffee, leisurely looking at Keith.
Keith also ordered a cup symbolically, then looked at Evelyn.
"Um..." Keith cleared his throat, smiling awkwardly, "Long ti no see."
Evelyn nodded, "It has indeed been a long ti."
"Well, I ca to Aethelburg to be with Jas, and I heard you were in the hospital—"
As Keith spoke, he felt more and more awkward and at a loss.
Evelyn’s reaction was too calm; the words he had prepared seed impossible to utter.
Conversely, Evelyn appeared to genuinely be catching up with an old friend, even curving her lips into a faint smile.
When the coffee arrived, Evelyn took a sip.
The rich bitterness of the espresso made her frown slightly.
Evelyn spoke slowly, "Jas Grant told you?"
"Yes." Keith instinctively frowned too, holding the warm coffee cup, "Almost everything, I roughly know."
Evelyn was not surprised, speaking nonchalantly, "So, is Young Master Donovan here to confront , or to defend a friend?"
Keith felt as if he had been seen through.
He cleared his throat, "Not at all. We used to be friends, so there’s no reason for to confront you... I just felt I should co and see you. And also to let you know, Jas is currently in the hospital, still unconscious."
After speaking, Keith was almost impatient to observe Evelyn’s expression.
Yet he was sowhat disappointed.
Evelyn remained calm, as if she was hearing that a stranger had been admitted to the hospital.
