Yara Reagan pulled Iris Lockwood away.
The tension in the private room gradually dissipated, but Tristan Hawthorne still felt oppressed.
A wave of indescribable fatigue rose in his heart, and he looked at Jas Grant, finding his expression incredibly complex.
He seed both enraged and bewildered.
"Jas, things have co to this point, and I have nothing more to say. Think carefully about it yourself."
Tristan Hawthorne stood up and left, leaving behind a faint sigh.
Jas Grant sat in place for a long while, so long that a waiter ca in to ask if he still needed his order served before he got up to pay and leave.
On the other side, Yara Reagan and Iris Lockwood got into the car, and neither of them spoke for a while.
"It was so terrifying..."
It was a long ti before Iris Lockwood spoke in a trembling voice.
Yara Reagan gripped the steering wheel tightly, still shaken.
It would be a lie to say she wasn’t scared. She was facing Jas Grant, a man who could infuriate his own father into the hospital and hasn’t visited him since.
Moreover, she didn’t have that many bargaining chips to fight against Jas Grant.
Iris Lockwood was even less capable.
If Jas Grant caught even the slightest hold over them, he could leave them with no place to return to.
"Don’t be afraid, I’m here." Yara Reagan gritted her teeth, "Today was just, just to scare Jas Grant a little, make him think it over... I just hope he has a tiny bit of genuine feeling for Evelyn, so that today’s confrontation wasn’t in vain."
Iris Lockwood composed herself, murmuring: "So what do we do next? Do we just wait?"
Yara Reagan said solemnly: "First, let’s go see Officer Young. If things really co to a head and we have to take Jas Grant to court, we’ll have no choice but to go all out."
Iris Lockwood nodded. Her heart was racing; she felt like she had just returned from the brink of death and was given a new lease on life.
Yara Reagan started the car and was about to drive off when her phone suddenly rang.
An unfamiliar number, but it felt sowhat familiar.
A na arose in Yara Reagan’s mind, but she wasn’t sure, so she cautiously answered, "Hello, who is this?"
"Hello, Director Reagan."
A familiar, indifferent voice ca through the receiver, causing Yara Reagan’s expression to change slightly.
She glanced at Iris Lockwood, who was curiously looking back.
Yara Reagan simply turned on the speaker, letting the voice co out —
"You may not rember this number. I am Lynn Yates. I want to talk to you about Evelyn Clayton."
Iris Lockwood widened her eyes in shock.
She dared not make a sound, holding her breath and giving Yara Reagan a aningful look.
Yara Reagan cald down and slowly said, "Director Yates, what do you an by that?"
"I already know. Evelyn Clayton is back from Aethelburg and was taken away and detained by Jas Grant yesterday." Lynn Yates’s voice was calm and steady, "I can help you. In fact, I’ve already taken action. I’ve arranged for soone to go to Jas Grant’s villa where Evelyn Clayton is held. Do you need to provide the address?"
Lynn Yates’s calm statent both excited and frightened Yara Reagan.
She wanted to ask how Lynn Yates knew this, but her first reaction was still, "Director Yates, you should know that the return of Evelyn—"
"I know, it cannot be told to anyone else. Rest assured, I won’t leak this information. I have only one request, that Jas Grant return to normal and continue with the Yates Family alliance."
