Evelyn Clayton listened, pressing her brow with an unbearable headache.
"He wasn’t detained?"
Yara Reagan sighed softly on the other end, "He’s Jas Grant... anyway, he was out by the next day."
Evelyn couldn’t quite describe what she was feeling inside.
"And how is Gene?"
"He’s alright. They didn’t hold anything against him, besides, I’ve t with Officer Young..." Yara’s voice choked again, "Why did you hide so much from ? Back then, when you didn’t tell , it was about Sumr Monroe and the people behind her, wasn’t it?"
At this point, there was no need to conceal anything.
Evelyn’s hand tightened slightly around her phone, and after a long pause, she said slowly, "Don’t tell anyone about contacting ... if possible, I’d like you to co et alone."
Yara responded quickly, "Don’t worry! I won’t tell anyone, but Evelyn... I hope you won’t keep anything from in the future, okay? Do you know how hurt I felt, with our relationship, and you still hid things from ?"
Evelyn’s nose stung a bit, and she said softly, "I’m sorry—"
Yara seed to be calming herself, staying silent for a while before pretending to be relaxed as she continued, "Let’s not talk about it! Just give your exact address, and I’ll co to see you tomorrow!"
After sending Yara her specific location and ending the call, Evelyn felt her mood lift a bit.
The next morning, Shane Sinclair arrived.
Seeing Evelyn looking sowhat better, Shane nodded with a faint smile, "Looks like Miss Clayton has already contacted her friend?"
"Yes, my friend will probably be here in the next couple of days."
Before Shane could speak, Evelyn continued, "Don’t worry, I’m only bringing one person, and no one else knows my whereabouts. I trust her, so I hope Mr. Sinclair, you can also give so trust."
Shane observed Evelyn quietly for a mont, as if assessing the truth of her words.
After a while, Shane relented, shifting his gaze, "I said we wouldn’t restrict your freedom, only hope that Miss Clayton rembers what you promised yesterday."
Evelyn didn’t dwell on this further and just told Shane when Yara would likely arrive, hoping no one would stop her then.
She had noticed that the place she was staying was a private hospital, rarely frequented by the public, and the doctors and nurses treated that family of three with great respect—it seed to be their family enterprise.
So even if she entertained thoughts of escaping, she had to weigh them carefully.
"Miss Clayton, please rest well, and if you need anything, you can contact anyti." Shane glanced aningfully at the phone on the nightstand, "My contact information is on it."
Evelyn was slightly stunned as Shane turned and left.
She opened her phone and saw that, indeed, Shane’s na and number were in her contacts.
After thinking for a while, Evelyn sent Yara another ssage.
Asking her to check out Shane Sinclair.
It took a while for Yara to reply, and she sent a screenshot of a plane ticket for the evening.
Evelyn couldn’t help but smile a little, feeling sowhat relieved.
As she was thinking, Yara’s call ca through suddenly.
This ti, Yara’s tone was much more tense, her voice instinctively lowered, "Jas Grant just called , asking if I wanted to go to Aethelburg with him, saying he heard about your whereabouts there... does he know sothing?"
