Seeing this line of words, the scrutiny in Silas Sinclair’s eyes gradually faded, leaving only an indescribable astonishnt.
Yvonne Warren looked at Evelyn Clayton, her eyes filled with disbelief, "You, are you a police officer?"
They had rescued Evelyn and kept it a strict secret from the outside for the past two months, and out of respect for her privacy, they hadn’t looked into her background.
So Yvonne was a bit surprised.
But this girl doesn’t look like a cop, does she?
This ti, Evelyn didn’t answer their question but quietly waited for Yvonne’s response.
"Yvette Warren is my half-sister," Pauline said, lowering her eyes.
Silas gently squeezed his wife’s shoulder.
A mont later, Pauline lifted her gaze and forced a smile, "Don’t be afraid, we have nothing to do with those two people you just ntioned. We were really just passing by. Originally, we were going to Y Province to relax, and then we saw you right after getting off the mountain road. When you crawled out of the car, we saw you, and we couldn’t just ignore you."
After speaking, Pauline paused briefly, "And... you look a lot like our late young daughter."
Evelyn suddenly recalled the two sentences she heard while she was unconscious.
She pressed her lips together and typed, "How long was I unconscious?"
"Almost two months." Pauline’s eyes reddened again, clearly rembering sothing unpleasant, "We almost thought you wouldn’t wake up."
Two months...
Evelyn slightly closed her eyes, unable to describe the feeling in her heart.
"In the past two months, we’ve avoided seeing any guests because we found out that soone tampered with your car, soone definitely set you up."
The always quiet Silas finally spoke, his deep voice carrying a trace of indescribable consolation.
Evelyn looked at him, her eyes filled with complexity.
Pauline quickly added, "Yes, we didn’t intentionally hide you... During this ti, so people did co looking, but we were afraid there might be soone among them who wanted to harm you, so we didn’t dare to et anyone."
Evelyn instinctively wanted to ask who had co, but her lips moved slightly before she stopped herself.
Who it is doesn’t matter anymore.
She typed on her phone—
"Thank you, and sorry for the trouble."
Pauline smiled gently, her eyes lingering on Evelyn’s face, not moving away for a long ti, "No thanks needed, we were willing to... I ntioned, you resemble our deceased young daughter a lot."
Sensing the implication in Pauline’s words, Evelyn quietly t her gaze, waiting for her to continue.
Pauline took a deep breath, looking at Evelyn with hopeful eyes.
"Perhaps this request is a bit presumptuous—I wanted to say, could you, after you’re healed, stay with the Sinclair Family for a while?"
Evelyn’s eyes showed surprise.
Pauline, thinking she was unwilling, hastily said, "We really don’t an anything else! We just want to take care of you a bit longer..."
Seeing Pauline’s slightly reddened eyes, Evelyn understood.
She looked like this couple’s young daughter, so they probably saw her as so sort of consolation.
That’s why they made such a request.
This wasn’t sothing difficult to agree to.
Only she had a lot left to do.
After thinking for a while, Evelyn typed on the screen.
"Can I see my friends first?"
Pauline and Silas exchanged a glance, then nodded vigorously, their eyes filled with undisguised delight.
"Of course! Once you’re feeling a bit better, I’ll help you get in touch with your friends!"
