An hour later, sitting on Jas Grant’s private plane, Evelyn Clayton still felt a bit dazed.

Jas had ntioned to her before that he owned a private plane, but Evelyn had never really paid attention.

Now, looking at Jas with his bright, shining eyes beside her, Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed and said softly, "Thank you."

"No need to be polite," Jas smiled lightly, "I’m more than willing."

Evelyn turned her head away, ignoring him, but her earlobes were already tinged red.

Jas pretended not to notice, giving Evelyn so dignity, and asked softly, "Why are you in such a hurry to go to Y Province? Is there work you need to handle?"

Having taken the favor of using his private plane, Evelyn felt awkward being too distant, so she thought for a mont and vaguely replied, "Yeah, there’s sothing urgent I need to take care of."

To her surprise, Jas’s smile faded slightly, and he said in a low voice, "You’re lying to again."

Evelyn looked at him, unable to help but frown, "What am I lying to you about?"

"You’re obviously going to Y Province to find Vanreid’s forr factory manager," Jas stared intently at her, "Why didn’t you tell ?"

Evelyn held back her words, "Who told you this?"

Jas coughed lightly, "...Yara Reagan."

Cursing Yara’s big mouth silently in her heart, Evelyn decided to drop the act and said coldly, "Yes, I’m going to find John Jacobs, so what?"

"This kind of thing, going alone, what if sothing happens?" Jas was full of disapproval.

Evelyn turned her face away, pretending to be indifferent on her delicate profile, and said flatly, "Nothing will happen."

Jas wanted to say sothing more, but his phone suddenly rang.

The plane was still taxiing, and after a glance, Jas answered it.

Whatever was said on the other end, Jas’s expression grew heavier, laced with a trace of indescribable displeasure.

"Hmm, okay, got it."

After hanging up, Jas hesitated to speak.

Evelyn instinctively asked, "What’s wrong?"

Jas sighed lightly, "I originally wanted to accompany you to Y Province, handle the affairs, and then return. But sothing ca up unexpectedly..."

Evelyn’s long lashes trembled slightly, "I never asked you to accompany ; I can manage on my own."

Jas paused, his expression unreadable, "I have to go to the Yates Family, to see Lynn Yates."

Her mood suddenly sank, an indescribable bitter feeling rose and filled Evelyn’s heart.

She turned her head to look at the night sky outside the window, watching the gradually approaching clouds, seemingly indifferent: "Thank you for your help, I’ll handle the rest on my own."

Jas looked steadily at Evelyn’s profile, his long fingers clenching and releasing, seemingly powerless.

After a long while, he suddenly pressed down on Evelyn’s wrist.

Evelyn was slightly startled, turning her gaze to him, eting his deep, dark eyes.

"Evelyn, you..."

Before Jas could finish, Evelyn abruptly pulled her hand away.

She looked back at Jas steadily, sohow, the previously chaotic heartbeat suddenly cald down.

"Jas, so words, if left unsaid, leave room forever, and it won’t get too ugly."

Evelyn slowly spoke, her voice barely audible, slightly hoarse.

Jas was stunned, seemingly not understanding Evelyn’s words.

Evelyn took a deep breath, "I know what you want to say, and I know what you want. But I’m sorry, I can’t give it to you."

"Our fate ended long ago, whether you accept it or not... that’s how it is, there’s no possibility between us anymore."
