Franklin and Violet didn’t ask further questions.
Before leaving, Evelyn ntioned the loan matter briefly to Violet.
Evelyn didn’t explain too much, just said she wanted to acquire so company shares and asked if Violet was interested. If not, she could consider it as lending her money.
Violet seed indifferent but readily agreed to fund Evelyn.
For Violet’s extraordinary trust, Evelyn felt sowhat touched.
She even received the transfer from Violet just as she got ho.
While calculating what to do next after acquiring Charlotte Sterling’s shares, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Iris rushed faster than her, "I’ll get it!"
She dashed to the door, opened it, and was surprised to widen her eyes.
Then her expression darkened slightly, "Jas Grant?! What are you doing here?"
Jas Grant was also montarily stunned, then spoke with no politeness, "Why are you here?"
When Evelyn arrived, the two had already been silently confronting each other for a while.
"Jas Grant, what are you doing here?" Evelyn pulled Iris’s arm, signaling her to not be nervous.
Iris swept a suspicious glance at Jas Grant, her eyes filled with caution.
Jas Grant couldn’t be bothered with her, he stared directly at Evelyn and spoke without hesitation, "I miss you."
Evelyn almost got goosebumps, holding back the heat on her cheek, and said coldly, "Director Grant, did all the things I said to you before go in vain?"
Jas Grant gazed at Evelyn, "Haven’t you been following the news lately? I’ve already... left the Grant Family."
"So?" Evelyn held her patience, suddenly rembered the call Jas didn’t answer that day, and her heart hardened a bit, "What does that have to do with ?"
Saying this, she was about to close the door.
Jas quickly held onto the door.
He stared at Evelyn steadily, his voice was a bit hoarse, "That day, I saw it. You called ... You were worried about , weren’t you?"
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat, her mind blank for a brief mont, not knowing what to say.
Jas, like pressing his advantage, with an unspeakable expression on his handso face, seed both weak and sad.
He lowered his eyelids, his voice deep and slightly hoarse, "I’ve been having a lot going on recently, so I couldn’t contact you... May I co in to sit? I just want to talk to you."
During Evelyn’s mont of hesitation, Iris stared at Jas, unable to bear it any longer.
Why does she feel this guy ca deliberately to play the sympathy card?!
Isn’t it to elicit Evelyn’s compassion!
Iris was fuming, just about to say sothing, but was frightened into silence by Jas’ cold gaze.
Evelyn didn’t notice the silent turbulence between them, looked at Jas’s despondent appearance, and ultimately put down her hand against the door without a word, making a space.
There was a fleeting smile in Jas’s eyes.
Like a weary bird returning to the forest, Jas entered naturally, changed shoes, and softly asked, "Evelyn, did you eat dinner tonight? If not, I’ll cook for you."
Evelyn just wanted to refuse, rembered Iris had been at ho all day and might not have eaten either, so she said, "Never mind, Iris hasn’t eaten, I’ll order delivery."
Jas glanced at Iris.
Iris had a provocative expression, raised her eyebrows at him.
"I cooked dinner!" Iris announced proudly, running to the thermal cabinet to take out the already prepared al, "I was waiting for you to co back to eat!"
She served two bowls of rice, reluctantly picked up three pairs of chopsticks.
Sitting down at the table, Iris smiled mischievously, "Sorry, Director Grant, my rice is cooked just right, none for you, oh."
