Evelyn Clayton furrowed her brows, her face still pale and thin, almost transparent, and her always clear eyes had a hint of faint bloodshot.

She pressed her lips together and pulled back the contract, "You’re not suited to stay here either; the rain has eased up a bit, you should hurry back."

Jas Grant was left feeling awkward, the displeasure in his heart spreading again.

He slightly gritted his teeth, "Do you just not want to see ?"

The atmosphere once again beca stiff.

Seeing Evelyn Clayton’s eyes seem to avoid him, Yara Reagan quickly tried to diate, "It really isn’t appropriate, Director Grant! Think about it, now that you’re engaged to Lynn Yates, if others find out you’re running to Evelyn every day... what would people say about Evelyn?"

Reminded by Yara Reagan, Jas Grant cald down a bit.

He looked at Evelyn Clayton, who had her eyes downcast and didn’t respond, feeling sowhat at a loss, "I’m not—"

The words stopped abruptly, and Jas Grant didn’t know how to explain or what more to say.

Yara Reagan stood up, both escorting him out and giving Jas Grant a way out, "Don’t worry, I will take care of Evelyn; if you have anything, you can ask . I’ll be forthright!"

Jas Grant was escorted to the door, looking at Evelyn Clayton curled up on the sofa, her thin back refusing to engage with him, Jas Grant understood he wasn’t suited to stay here any longer.

He left without a word, once again stepping into the cold rain and fog.

Getting into the car, he started it, Jas Grant took out a pack of cigarettes, lighting one to calm his complicated and tumultuous mood.

Nicotene made him calm, yet couldn’t help him escape the unspeakable lancholy.

The rain beat down relentlessly, it seed to grow heavier while Jas Grant sat in the car.

He extinguished the cigarette with his fingers, finally a bit calr as he held the steering wheel ready to leave.

Not far away, under the shadows of a tree, a figure in a gray raincoat flickered by, seemingly intentionally glancing toward Jas Grant.

Jas Grant squinted slightly; alertness flashed in his dark eyes and he drove forward.

But under the tree, there was already no one.

Was it just his imagination?

Holding an umbrella, Jas Grant got out of the car and glanced around, but no figure could be seen.

Upstairs.

Yara Reagan and Evelyn Clayton went through the remaining preliminary cooperation proposals once more, selecting the best three. Yara Reagan hurriedly put away the work-related materials.

"That’s enough, your main priority now is rest!" Yara Reagan quickly studied Evelyn Clayton’s face, "Do you feel better than yesterday?"

Evelyn Clayton listlessly replied, "About the sa. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older? Donating 400 CC made my whole body uncomfortable."

Yara Reagan tisked, "400 CC isn’t a small amount? You’re really amazing; forget Sumr Monroe, even if an ordinary friend asked to donate, I’d only give them 40 CC at most."

Evelyn Clayton managed a weak smile without replying.

Yara Reagan sensed sothing off, thinking for a long while, "So, why did you agree to donate blood to Sumr Monroe and Heather Donovan?"

Evelyn Clayton’s clear eyes flashed with obscurity, but she didn’t answer, although Yara Reagan thought of sothing.

She hesitated to guess, "Did Heather Donovan threaten you with sothing?"

Evelyn Clayton remained silent, and Yara Reagan kept guessing, her tone gradually growing more resentful, "Did she threaten you with Jas Grant?!"

"Don’t guess wildly." Evelyn Clayton interrupted Yara Reagan’s exceedingly accurate guess.

But Yara Reagan understood her well enough that she knew her guesses were close.

She looked at Evelyn Clayton, sighed, then her eyes flashed with the glow of gossip.

Yara Reagan really wanted to ask about Evelyn Clayton’s attitude toward Jas Grant.

But she was afraid it would upset Evelyn Clayton.

"Evelyn, don’t forget that Jas Grant is now engaged to Lynn Yates, so... maybe just let it go?"
