As Shirley Owens finished speaking, Jas Grant abruptly stood up.

He turned to leave, but Harrison Grant’s face darkened: "Where are you going?"

"Sothing’s co up." Jas, reluctant to say more, only wanted to find Evelyn Clayton, "We’ll talk another day."

Harrison Grant was dissatisfied: "You’ve been here for less than half an hour, not even had dinner yet, and you’re in a rush to leave. Is this not your ho anymore?"

Jas Grant lowered his eyes to look at the dining table in front of him.

He had been there for almost twenty minutes, and there wasn’t a drop of water or a set of utensils provided. What was he supposed to eat? The tablecloth?

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught Shirley Owens’ gloating expression, but Jas was indifferent and dismissive.

Ever since Shirley Owens took over the household, he understood that it would eventually beco the ho of Shirley Owens and Jasper Grant.

Although he also realized that Shirley Owens deliberately ntioned that Evelyn Clayton might have donated blood to Sumr Monroe just to make him anxious and cause Harrison Grant dissatisfaction.

But he didn’t care.

He just wanted to confirm if Evelyn Clayton was alright.

"Have you forgotten your status?" Harrison Grant’s last remnants of patience evaporated, his face cold, "You have a fiancée now! You and Evelyn Clayton have long since ended!"

"Dad, don’t be angry, maybe Jas has other matters to attend to." At this mont, Jasper Grant stood up, poured water for Harrison Grant, soothingly said, "The company relies on big brother; without him, things are hard to manage."

At his words, Harrison Grant’s frown deepened.

He was wary of his son’s machinations within the corporation, like a monarch fearing a successor’s power rising above all.

But father and son were more like sovereign and minister. Although Jasper Grant was his chosen ’crown prince’, how could the prince’s power surpass that of the emperor?

"If employees can’t do their jobs without the boss, then they’re of no use. Being the general manager, Jasper, you oversee HR, haven’t you vetted them properly?" Jas Grant’s voice was indifferent, his dark eyes sweeping over Jasper Grant with an almost imperceptible sneer and mockery.

In response, Jasper Grant smiled gently, his gaze deep: "It seems I’ve neglected my duties."

Calm and serene, with not a single flaw exposed.

As he always was in discussions with Jas and Harrison Grant, one would think him the epito of goodness.

Suddenly, Jas found it all dull, boring, and utterly tedious.

He was well aware of what kind of person Jasper Grant was, maybe Harrison Grant also knew.

The three of them harbored their own sches, none truly yielding to another.

"I’ve got so contracts to review, I’m leaving now."

Dismissing Harrison Grant’s anger, Jas donned his damp coat, changed his shoes, opened his umbrella, and vanished back into the rain.

Harrison Grant was deeply angered, but didn’t intend to undermine his eldest son’s reputation in front of Shirley Owens and Jasper Grant, so with a sullen face, he went upstairs on his own.

Shirley Owens, compliant, followed him up, exchanging a glance with Jasper Grant before going.

As the servants ca to clear the table, Jasper Grant went to the kitchen to make himself a sugar-free latte.

Holding the steaming cup, he walked to the main house’s entrance, stood beneath the porch, watching the drizzling rain outside, and smiled lightly, taking a sip of the fragrant coffee.

Indeed, Jas Grant still couldn’t let go of Evelyn Clayton.

And naturally, Evelyn Clayton still thought of Jas Grant.

Otherwise, how else would she be so easily coerced by Heather Donovan?

Having finished his coffee, Jasper Grant’s sharp, slender features held a faint smile, inadvertently betraying a grim fierceness.

Interesting, truly interesting.
