"I understand my sister!"

"If that’s all you have to say, there’s no point in continuing this conversation."

Hearing this, the little boy’s breathing beca increasingly tense.

Imdiately after, he exerted all his strength and slamd the door as he left.

The living room returned to a brief silence, and Nora Northwood anxiously looked out the glass window, seemingly searching for the departing figure of the little boy.

Jasper Sinclair threw a bucket of cold water on her head, taphorically speaking: "Don’t bother looking, he won’t leave."

"How can you be so sure?"

"His goal hasn’t been achieved yet."

"So, what on earth is going on?"

Nora had the word "curiosity" written all over her face, and aside from that, she had no other emotions.

In the following ten-plus minutes, Jasper told her everything that had happened in recent days, detail by detail.

Of course, he skipped the part involving Damien’s bold confession.

After listening, it took Nora a little while to digest before dully asking, "So, the cure you ntioned is connected to Damien?"

"Yes, currently, only she has a complete cure formula, while Professor Bishop’s formula still needs improvent."

"Then why didn’t you agree to that boy’s request?"

"Silly."

Jasper bent his index finger and flicked Nora’s forehead with his knuckle.

He didn’t use much force, but Nora’s skin was so delicate that it visibly turned red.

Nora gently rubbed her forehead and pouted discontentedly, "You’re the one who’s silly."

"If I quickly agreed to his plea for help, there’s no guarantee he wouldn’t push his luck."

"He doesn’t seem like a bad kid."

"You’re not a good judge of character."

"You..."

Just as Nora was about to say sothing more, a doorbell rang, interrupting their conversation.

Nora fell silent, and their eyes t, each understanding the other perfectly.

As expected, the little boy had returned.

In fact, from the mont the room door closed, Jasper had been keeping track of the ti on the clock.

It had been less than half an hour.

He had thought the little boy would be stubborn for longer, but it turned out he overestimated a child’s patience.

Or perhaps he underestimated the child’s urgent desire to save his loved ones.

The doorbell rang for about half a minute before Nora asked Jasper, "Who’s going to open the door?"

"You rest on the sofa, don’t say anything for now, or go back to your room."

Nora stood still, pondering for a mont, then redirected her steps towards the bedroom.

If she weren’t allowed to speak, she might not be able to control herself, especially since pregnant won tend to be overflowing with maternal instinct.

Jasper watched her swaying figure and reminded her from behind, "Don’t get caught eavesdropping."

Nora walked even faster.

Once the bedroom door was tightly closed, Jasper went to open the door outside.

Sure enough, the person at the door was the little boy.

He didn’t even have a na to call his own, and Jasper didn’t even know how to address him, so he just omitted the subject, "Didn’t you leave? Why did you co back?"

The little boy’s eyes were red-rimd, clearly showing signs of having cried.

It wasn’t until they both sat back on the sofa, Jasper realized the signs.

There was no helping it, given their height difference; when standing, Jasper couldn’t clearly see his expression at all.
