"I miscalculated." Xuanxuan lowered her head in disappointnt and suddenly didn’t feel smart anymore.
"It’s okay, Xuanxuan didn’t miscalculate because she can’t do math, she just forgot to include herself." Mi Jing comforted her softly.
"That’s right." Not wanting Xuanxuan to feel upset, Mi Wan stopped herself from turning to leave and added, "That small mistake doesn’t count, Xuanxuan doesn’t need to mind it."
"I’ll be more careful next ti and make sure I don’t miscalculate again."
With the comfort from Mi Jing and Mi Wan, a bright smile blood on Xuanxuan’s fair face. After speaking, she lowered her eyes and focused intently on counting the chopsticks in her hand.
Actually, Mi Jing didn’t overly praise Shen Lingxing, as his cooking was indeed quite good. Every dish he prepared looked appetizing, instantly whetting everyone’s appetite.
"Wow, it slls so good!"
Xuanxuan closed her eyes and took in deep breaths, then swallowed, eager to taste the delicious food in front of her.
"Ribs!"
Seeing the pot of ribs Mi Wan had just placed on the table, Xuanxuan’s eyes lit up with joy, and she said excitedly, "Mom, Zerui loves ribs, let’s take so ho for him, okay?"
"Sure." The mother and daughter were thinking the sa thing. Mi Wan smiled and said, "I’ll go get a container to pack so."
Mi Jing sat across from Xuanxuan, and seeing the joy on Xuanxuan’s face at the ntion of He Zerui, she raised an eyebrow. After Mi Wan left, she deliberately lowered her voice and asked, "Xuanxuan, didn’t you say before that you didn’t like your brother Zerui? Why do you want to take food ho for him now?"
"I don’t dislike him anymore." Xuanxuan sat upright and said seriously.
"Oh? Why is that?" Mi Jing asked curiously.
"Because, because brother Zerui is willing to share delicious food with , so I don’t dislike him anymore."
"That’s good." Mi Jing smiled knowingly and continued, "Xuanxuan and Zerui are siblings now, you should get along well."
The dinner was hearty. Although they had a new "head chef" and the food tasted different from usual, everyone still had a great ti, laughing and chatting like a family reunion.
"Lingxing, you and Jingjing should ride with us back ho, it’s on the way." A few of them walked downstairs together, and upon learning that Shen Lingxing didn’t drive, Mi Wan offered to give them a ride ho.
"Sis, Lingxing and I want to take a walk, you go ahead." Mi Jing, holding Shen Lingxing’s arm, interrupted with a smile.
"Alright then, we’ll go first."
After saying that, Mi Wan and Ji Dongquan walked side by side towards the car parked not far away. Watching their backs, Mi Jing suddenly sighed, "It’s so nice."
"What’s nice?" Shen Lingxing asked casually upon hearing Mi Jing’s sigh.
"My sister and my brother-in-law. After so many years of ups and downs, they finally got back together."
The city night was bright and bustling. People hurried to and fro, cars weaved through each other, and neon lights flashed through the night. Walking through the crowded streets, each person seed insignificant.
This night, Mi Jing and Shen Lingxing chose not to use the car. They sotis rged into the crowd, sotis crossed the street hand in hand, walking leisurely towards ho.
Undoubtedly, they were happy, in love, and supportive of each other. But compared to them, Chen Wenyu, who was in the hospital, seed pitiful!
The child was gone!
Chen Wenyu lay on the white hospital bed, her face pale, her hands clenched into fists, her heart filled with sadness and hatred.
She really loved this child. Although he hadn’t fully developed in her womb, she had already had many beautiful dreams. She imagined the mont he first called her "Mom," and the scenes of him happily going to school with a backpack. She had many hopes for this child, but he hadn’t had the chance to co into the world and was cruelly "killed." And she was one of the "murderers."
She hated herself for not being able to protect her child, and she blad herself for foolishly choosing a man worse than a beast.
It was too late, she regretted it. She really regretted it!
She shouldn’t have approached him. How could a man who complains about his wife be considered a good man to entrust her life to?
She shouldn’t have been wishful thinking, naïvely believing she was his true love! She shouldn’t have ddled in soone else’s marriage, damaging her reputation and dignity, only to end up with a scumbag!
Unfortunately, she realized it too late, and there was no way to save anything now.
Perhaps this is karma. You reap what you sow. But the child was innocent; he shouldn’t have paid for her mistakes! The one who deserved to die was her!
Chen Wenyu blad herself and wept silently.
Alone in the quiet hospital room, she suddenly heard a baby’s crying.
"Wah... Wah wah..."
The crying grew louder and sharper, Chen Wenyu was overwheld by guilt and self-reproach. She sat up abruptly and cried, "Baby, is it you crying? Is it you?"
"..."
No one answered, but the baby’s crying didn’t stop. It seed to be right in her ear, crying to her, making her heart ache.
"Baby, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. I caused this, I failed to protect you. You must hate , right? Do you think I deserve to die?"
"Yes, you deserve to die! You wicked woman, why did you beco a howrecker? Why did you ruin soone else’s family? Why did you agree to abort ? Who cares if you’re crying now, stop pretending. A woman like you has no right to be sad, no right to be forgiven! You’re a howrecker, a murderer, and even in death, you deserve it!"
After a bout of self-bla, Chen Wenyu heard an angry, hateful voice. She looked around, tears streaming down her face, but all she saw was white, not a single figure.
"Do you hate that much?" Chen Wenyu knelt on the bed, crying into her hands.
"Of course I hate you, I wish I could kill you! You despicable woman!" The hateful voice sounded again, as if soone was speaking right in her ear, clearly audible.
"Do you really want to die?" Chen Wenyu’s eyes were dull and lifeless as she asked in despair.
"Of course. You should die imdiately, right now!"
"Okay, I promise you, I’ll die now, I’ll co see you right away." Chen Wenyu wiped her tears as she spoke to herself. After saying this, she suddenly smiled, as if she had found release, and gently removed the IV needle from her wrist.
