"But Cancan’s house is very far from Xuanxuan’s house." Gu Can furrowed her tiny brows and pouted, showing a troubled expression.
How many days does she want to stay this ti?
As soon as Gu Can spoke, Shen Lingxing’s eyebrows raised slightly. She instantly saw through her little sche.
"Then you’ll have to wait until your aunt is free to take you to Xuanxuan’s house." Shen Lingxing was now thoroughly enjoying his ti alone with Mi Jing. Having one little lamp like Gu Can around already gave him a headache. Adding another one like Xuanxuan would probably an he’d have no chance to sneak into bed.
"But, but, Cancan wants to play with Xuanxuan right now." Gu Can looked at Shen Lingxing with her big, shiny black eyes full of eager hope. She said, "Uncle, Cancan doesn’t want to go ho. Cancan wants to stay here with Xuanxuan. We both want to play with Aunt."
What would he do if they wanted to stay?
Shen Lingxing naturally didn’t want these two little lamps to stay, but facing their pleading eyes, he couldn’t bear to send them ho.
"Dinner’s ready."
In the midst of the silence, Mi Jing’s voice drifted from the kitchen. Imdiately, Cancan and Xuanxuan’s eyes lit up brightly. They walked towards the kitchen in perfect harmony, saying at the sa ti.
"I’ll get the bowls and chopsticks."

Hearing this, Shen Lingxing softened even more, thinking that he would have to be heartless to himself.

However, Xuanxuan and Cancan were very quick. By the ti Shen Lingxing and Mi Jing ca out of the kitchen, four bowls of steaming white rice were already set on the dining table.
Seeing this, Mi Jing and Shen Lingxing exchanged smiles, genuinely finding the two kids adorable and endearing.
The al was lively and joyful. As soon as Mi Jing and Shen Lingxing put down their chopsticks, Cancan and Xuanxuan seed to have agreed on washing the dishes, as they started bustling about and chased Mi Jing out of the kitchen after the dishes were cleared and put into the sink.
"Xuanxuan, why don’t you want to go ho?" While Xuanxuan washed the dishes and Cancan rinsed them, the two of them chatted as they worked skillfully together.
"My mom and dad got divorced. I don’t like the boys at Mr. Ji’s house." Xuanxuan didn’t look at Cancan, keeping her eyes down as she scrubbed the dishes and spoke quietly.
"Does he bully you?" Cancan asked curiously.
"No." Xuanxuan shook her head.
"Why don’t you like him?"
"He’s very rude, and he talks fiercely. Plus, he doesn’t like Kabi." Xuanxuan already considered Cancan her little best friend and openly answered her questions.
"Kabi is so cute. How can he not like it?" Cancan couldn’t accept this fact and pouted, "Your brother from Mr. Ji’s house must be a heartless person!"
"Yeah, that’s what I think, so I don’t like talking to him."
"Then you should co and play at my house often. Both my brothers are very nice. It’s okay if you don’t go ho. You can sleep with ." Cancan enthusiastically invited Xuanxuan, planning to be her solid support.
"No, if I don’t go ho often, Mom will be unhappy." She only disliked He Zerui; she didn’t plan on running away from ho. Even if she stayed here, it’d only be for a few days because they both had their own hos and loved ones they missed.
"That’s true." Mom would worry. Gu Can muttered softly.
The two kids, one wanting to avoid morning exercises and the other to avoid the displeased brother at ho, decided after their heart-to-heart chat to temporarily stay at Mi Jing and Shen Lingxing’s place, treating it as a refuge.
Though they were young, the two girls were diligent in washing the dishes. The plates and utensils were spotless, and under the light, they even sparkled, making Mi Jing feel like she had two little helpers.
After washing the dishes, Xuanxuan and Cancan sat on either side of Mi Jing, asking her to watch Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf with them.
At first, the three of them watched intently, but gradually, Xuanxuan and Cancan fell asleep while sitting. Shen Lingxing ca down from the study upstairs to find the two little girls sprawled over Mi Jing.
"Are they asleep?" Shen Lingxing walked over and asked softly.
"Yes, they haven’t had a bath yet." Mi Jing replied worriedly, unsure whether to let them sleep or wake them up.
"Let them sleep in the guest room and have them bathe when they wake up tomorrow." The two girls sleeping together shouldn’t be scared, right? Shen Lingxing thought.
Let them sleep in the guest room?
How could that be?
Mi Jing disagreed, "What if they wake up in the middle of the night and get scared?"
After a mont of silence, Mi Jing said, "Help carry Cancan upstairs."
"..."
Shen Lingxing was extrely reluctant to let his big bed be occupied, but he didn’t want his selfishness to scare two little girls. Reluctantly, he could only choose to compromise.
"Uncle, Cancan wants to sleep with Aunt." Half asleep, Cancan woke up as soon as he took a few steps, rubbing her eyes and speaking in a sleepy, spoiled voice.
"I want to sleep with Aunt too." Xuanxuan’s voice sounded from behind him. Shen Lingxing could only sigh inwardly, realizing his chance of sneaking into bed was really gone tonight.
After carrying the two girls upstairs and giving them a bath, it was no surprise they occupied the bed. They each clung to one of Mi Jing’s arms, demanding she read them a story. By the ti Shen Lingxing finished his work and returned from the study, he saw the two girls snuggled up to Mi Jing, sleeping soundly. With a heavy heart, he resigned himself to sleeping in the guest room.
Early the next morning, Gu Can blinked a few tis, then looked around before quietly getting out of bed.
"Good morning."
The voice was soft but clearly reached Gu Can’s ears in the quiet room.
"Xuanxuan, you..."
"Shhh!"
Xuanxuan glanced at the still-asleep Mi Jing and reminded Gu Can to speak quietly.
"Luckily, we didn’t wake Aunt." Gu Can looked over at Mi Jing, who still had her eyes closed and showed no signs of waking, and whispered with relief.
"Do you want to sleep longer?" Xuanxuan and Gu Can were sitting facing each other across Mi Jing, with clear, bright eyes, as if they’d been awake for a while.
