Mr. Lu walked to the door and finally handed the marriage certificate, which he had been clutching, back to Jiang Ye.
"Take it, keep it safe!"
"Yes!"
No need to remind him, he would definitely keep it safe.
When he got back, he planned to find a secure place to hide it, the kind that even his wife couldn’t know about.
With a ’snap’, the door closed.
Outside, the old couple looked at each other, both seeing relief in the other’s eyes.
"Ah, I still rember our daughter’s little face when she was born. Who would’ve thought she’d grow up so quickly and get married, becoming soone else’s!"
But Lu’s mother objected:
"Old man, what are you saying?
Our daughter will always be our daughter. Just because she’s married, how is she suddenly ’soone else’s’?"
Mr. Lu imdiately nodded repeatedly:
"Yes, yes, you’re right. Our daughter will always be our daughter. That Jiang boy, he doesn’t know how lucky he got! Hmph~"
As the saying goes: a mother-in-law grows fonder of her son-in-law the more she sees him, but a father-in-law, the more he sees the son-in-law, the angrier he gets!
The old couple actually had no real complaints about the marriage; on the contrary, they were quite happy.
One reason was their daughter liked him, and another, that Jiang boy was good to their daughter.
And then, the Jiang family were decent people, except for that adopted daughter.
"There, there, A Yan already took care of it for you."
Huh?
"A Yan?"
Mr. Lu didn’t know yet.
Of course, Lu’s mother knew; her sister-in-law had ssaged her first thing in the morning.
"Didn’t you see that bruise on the Jiang boy’s chin? He got it from a fight with A Yan this morning."
Huh?
There was a fight?
Realizing what had happened, Mr. Lu laughed:
"He fought well!"
That sure was a relief!
....
Not long after the elderly couple left, Lu Jing erged from the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel as he asked:
"Did my parents co?"
He nodded:
"Yes, they said to co see them when you’re free."
That was expected.
"Okay."
Then, he added:
"My parents also ca, and they want to invite your uncle and aunt, along with your aunt, for a casual al."
Lu Jing was a bit surprised:
"This, at noon?" he asked.
"Yes, I’ve already booked the private room."
Well, that couldn’t be refused.
Lu Jing nodded:
"I’ll let my parents know."
Jiang Ye couldn’t let her go alone:
"I’ll co with you."
"Alright."
Now that they were truly husband and wife, there was no need to keep up appearances.
After a quick tidy-up and change of clothes, it was ten minutes later.
The young couple then left the room and went next door.
By the ti they arrived, the elders from the main and third families were all there.
"Aunt, Uncle, Auntie."
Jiang Ye naturally didn’t need to introduce himself, following with:
"Aunt, Uncle, Auntie."
Clearly, everyone knew that the two young folks had gotten their marriage certificate that morning.
"Co sit, we’re all family now, no need to be formal."
The Aunt spoke up, and nobody objected.
Then, Jiang Ye spoke:
"Uncle and Aunt, my parents would like to invite you for a casual al this afternoon."
Mr. and Mrs. Lu looked at each other and nodded in agreent.
"Okay, your parents are here too?"
"Yes, my mom arrived late last night, and my dad this morning."
Both had dropped everything and rushed here the mont they got the news of Lu Jing’s kidnapping.
"Aunt, Uncle, Auntie, please co too."
"Ah? Us?"
Jiang Ye smiled and nodded:
"Didn’t Aunt just say we’re all family now? Let’s all have a al together then."
