Harsh?

Lu Jing clattered, sowhat unable to catch up.

Yet the man’s words carried such conviction, he couldn’t help but carefully recall various monts from this period.

It seed, indeed, he was acting unlike himself?

The important thing wasn’t the harshness, but why was he specifically harsh towards Jiang Ye?

Lu Jing was not foolish, he almost imdiately figured out why.

His whole body uncontrollably stepped back, his eyes filled with disbelief.

Why?

Why was this happening?

He had long stopped caring, hadn’t he?

While Lu Jing was still self-questioning, the man sighed helplessly and then, with a large hand, gathered the slender waist of the woman and headed towards the small restaurant.

"Yo, Captain Jiang has arrived? Please co in, the private room you requested is all prepared."

"Thanks, boss."

"Don’t ntion it. You’re a regular after all. Hey, this young lady looks familiar, let think."

The boss’s mory was indeed impressive; he actually recognized Lu Jing:

"Ah, isn’t this the young lady who used to co here few tis with Captain Jiang?"

Lu Jing had regained her composure, and her face burst into a smile:

"Hello, Boss!"

But behind her, she was fiercely pinching the salty hand attached to her waist.

Yet, it seed like the person didn’t feel the pain at all, and his grip even tightened, taking an inch and wanting a mile!

Jiang Ye actually knew he was just degrading himself, but who the hell knew? He just couldn’t control it. What else could he do?

As the boss continued saying that he would offer a small dish to them, Lu Jing couldn’t break free and had to lean in and warn in a lowered voice:

"Let go, or I’m leaving!"

Beyond the warning, there was clearly an intentional threat.

But, quite effective, the salty hand behind her imdiately loosened.

Lu Jing silently exhaled; no one knew that her heart had actually skipped a few beats just now.

...

The two went upstairs; the private room was at the far left end, and since it was a weekday, it was very quiet.

Upon entering, Lu Jing imdiately got to the point:

"What do you want to talk about?"

Jiang Ye paused in closing the door, then continued to shut it quietly.

"What’s the rush? Let’s talk after dinner," he said.

He seed quite calm and collected.

Lu Jing imdiately frowned, but before she could speak, the man interrupted her:

"What, you have another date later?"

There was a subtle hint of jealousy in his words.

"No!"

It was just that she didn’t want to stay with this man, especially now when it was just the two of them.

For Lu Jing, it felt like sitting on needles.

Facing Jiang Ye, Lu Jing’s heart harbored not just hatred, but also so inexplicable emotions.

That’s why she always wanted to avoid him.

"Lu Jing."

"Huh?" She abruptly looked up.

She didn’t realize when, but Jiang Ye had already moved in front of Lu Jing, easily enveloping her with his height of 190:

"How long have we known each other?"

Hmm?

She was puzzled why he would ask that, her eyes blinked, and then she slowly began to reply:

"I moved here with my parents when I was three years old, 24 years."

years!

How many periods of 24 years does one have in life?

Perhaps, they both recalled their younger days, and so both stood still,

until the waiter, pushing the cart, ca in and interrupted them.
