This was the fruit of the hard work of Kai's clones over the past two weeks. [Strength of Sage Symbols] was none other than the seal Kushina and Kai devised to shackle Kyubi yet free it to a certain extent.
While Kai wanted to try and see the sage art variants of more powerful techniques... he chose to move through the sa list as he mastered all these previous techniques. After all, instant gratification of strength mattered little to Kai. It's the grind that brought him true euphoria!
At the mont, Tsunade was still busy 'deciphering' her new Kekkei Genkai and the ratio of different nature transformations in it so Kai couldn't really learn Wood Style. Of course, now that he knew that it involved only water and earth nature transformation, Kai COULD use the Hit and Try thod but he realized his ti was better spent keeping up with his own grind.
"It seems Fugaku-kun's wedding was celebrated with great fervor last night," Kai is brought back out of his thoughts as Hiruzen continues, "And do you think this letter has to do sothing with what happened last night?"
The old man taps on the envelope set on his desk as Kai observes the Uchiha seal on it and inquires, "Father-in Ehm, Uchiha Yata sent a letter of recomndation for Fugaku?"
"To be considered in the listing for the next Hokage, yes," Hiruzen, in such a rare mont, takes a deep puff of his pipe and leans back on his chair.
"Was I called here for..." Kai narrows his eyes, "To help you decide?"
Hiruzen chuckles at the boy obviously acting oblivious and demands, "You, like many others, know the truth of Uchiha Clan's past."
"You an Uchiha Madara's actions," Kai nods.
"And you find Uchiha Madara's actions different from his clan?" Hiruzen inquires.
"Is it not?" Kai shot back.
For a mont, silence ensues in the office with the old man and the youth quietly staring at one another.
"How is Kushina-kun's progress?" He inquires as Kai looks a bit disappointed and informs, "We aren't anywhere near close to what the Jinchuriki of Gyuki has..." While Hiruzen did not know the seal on Kushina had changed, he was inford promptly that Tsunade had started to help the girl so he isn't blindsided should Kushina provide so results.
"Hmm..." Hiruzen closes his eyes in response as if deep in thought but Kai kept a check on his empath skill and knew well that Hiruzen only felt troubled and slightly annoyed as things progressed.
"What if you were asked to put a successor with such a troubled ancestor?" Hiruzen inquires while still keeping his eyes shut.
"How can I even counsel you for such a decision?" Kai shrugs, "You have three elders for a reason, right, Lord Third."
Hiruzen's lips twitched and he remarks, "You and the Nara Clan head do have so things in common. He had a similar response."
Kai smirks at that.
"But of course, I didn't ask you here for your counsel," Hiruzen chuckles, "Until now, you were kept in Team Sakumo because there wasn't any other use for your talents. Of course, this does not include your assistance to Orochimaru and Tsunade. The year is about to end. And as you are privy to the truth, a new war brews as we speak. The elder's council and I have collectively decided that... those above the ranks of Jonin and so talented Chunins now need to possess... better leadership skills."
Kai rely listens calmly.
"Stating precisely," Hiruzen continues, "We want to assess many shinobi through their ability to lead genin teams. How we do it is through the talks I have conducted with Third Kazekage Shaku. The Chunin Exams. This is going to be a great transition for the village and our system as a whole and it is in the first Chunin Exams Konoha and Suna will announce their alliance."
Kai nods.
"I'm not expecting an answer till"
"Konan, that girl Shizune, and another girl... uh, I can't rember her last na. Nono spoke that she has genjutsu talent... hmm... soone Yuhi? I'll take them as my team, if you allow it, Lord Third."
Hiruzen raises an eyebrow, clearly not expecting such an answer, and a quick one at that. Still, he ponders and questions, "You're taking this rather well. I rember Sakumo-kun being rather reluctant to take you, Minato, and Tsu as a team."
Kai shrugs, "Missions have almost beco of the sa difficulty for . And if you think I'm capable enough to teach, why would I be resistant? The only problem is that I'm more interested in Konan than all of them. And is Konan even thinking of graduating this year? I rember her plan being to stay at the academy as long as possible."
Setting his pipe aside, Hiruzen smiles, "Normally, I wouldn't want such a three-man cell," as he speaks, he rummages through his drawers and takes out three sheets of paper with the images of Konan, a dark-haired Shizune Kato, and crimson-eyed Kurenai Yuhi.
"Let's see... Konan. Excellent grasp of elentary Chakra Control. I suppose her training with other Senju Jonins under Tsunade has been fruitful. She seems oddly interested in incorporating paper in her jutsus and has shown a level of creativity in it which rather supports her drive...
Kato Shizune, a relative of the recent traitor, Kato Dan. She has shown great chakra control before... she was used as a pawn in Dan's treacherous sches. At the mont, her grades and motivation have plumted. Are you sure about her?" Hiruzen frowns for a mont.
Kai nods, "I've t her. Besides, I believe, it would reflect greatly on my skills if I can straighten out Shizune's situation before this... Chunin Exam."
Hiruzen smiles, "Then I can rest assured. As for Chunin Exams, the details will be released after a few more transactions with Suna. Nothing I would want you to feel worried about. Hmm, next, Yuhi Kurenai. As Tsunade's caretaker, Yakushi Nono stated, this girl has the talent to be a great Genjutsu Mistress... But... I have so concerns."
"Yes?" Kai cocks his head sideways and inquires with a puzzled expression.
"Your actual age is not that far from these girls..."
Kai deadpans, "Let stop you before this gets weird... I, how should I put it... Just want to train others in Shinobi Skills. Nonsexual ones. I think I am getting enough good stuff back at my ho to not think about such things for kids..."
"It's not you I worry about," Hiruzen clears his throat, "You have a reputation... Kai-kun. The kind that may affect younger and more impressionable minds."
"You an they could get horny?" Kai cringes.
Stifling a choked cough, Hiruzen takes a puff of his pipe and speaks in a quieter tone, "I... well, let's put it aside for now. I expect you to be a good Jonin Instructor and... teach your proteges to not let personal feelings conflict with their missions."
Kai nods again.
"Are they going through war protocols, too?" Kai inquires and Hiruzen denies it with a shake of his head.
"Hmm... and can I be exempt from teaching them until Konan decides to graduate?" Kai suddenly grins.
"Another batch will be going through graduation exams by the end of the year," Hiruzen confirms, "Only a few will get to select their genins as you did."
"May I ask who they are?"
"Uchiha Fugaku, Hyuga Hiashi, and Namikaze Minato. The rest will be appointed a team and before you ask, these individuals include Inuzuka Tsu."
Kai takes in the information and returns to the main topic, "What about Konan?"
"She will be inford that if she graduates, she can learn under you. To be fair, I only expect Konon-kun and Kurenai-kun to graduate. You have your work cut out with Shizune... even if she does graduate. Anyway, if Konan decides against it, you'll be expected to choose another genin."
Kai nods. He was already getting better preferential treatnt and he soon leaves the Kage's Office Officially removed from Sakumo's team like Minato and Tsu...

Kai raises an eyebrow, greatly pleased with this title. It would, after all, increase the growth of whoever decides to learn from him...
But more than this...

"D-rank Missions are back, Baby!!!" Kai licks his lips with a vicious smirk developing over his lips!
Else, why did he not resist?
The D-rank missions were once a great staple to his SP earning and now he could let his team work for it!
And of course, like many other titles, the boost in favorability is passive but for that 50% increase in pace, Kai would have to equip that title.
'Would I have gotten Chunin Instructor if I was a Chunin... what would happen if I beco a Kage?'
Kai wonders as he walks out of the academy building before returning to the haven of grind.
Another thing that brought Kai a bit of confusion was who else got the preferential treatnt. Fugaku and Minato he could understand. The forr is expected to be a leader and not giving Fugaku a chance at the claim of the position of a Kage would reflect poorly on the current Hiruzen while the old man expected Minato's talents to get through eventually. Should sothing happen to the old man, Sakumo would take on the title, too. So, honestly, it's expected for the younger generation to compete for the position of the Kage after Hiruzen and Sakumo.
But... why Hiashi?
'Hiashi... and Hizashi. The elder one even got an invitation last night... I an, they have grudges against the clan, both of them. But I didn't sense any impending actions from their sides... so are they planning sothing? I hope so... could even get so byakugan from the main clan if possible...'
Kai just hums internally.
Anyway, the fact that Hiruzen gave Hiashi such a treatnt ant sothing DEFINITELY is underway.
Not even wasting his ti to persuade Konan into graduating early since that would be low, Kai rather dips away with Kushina to bring another wave of destruction to the Shikkotsu Forest.
