An Jin glanced from the expressionless Gu Yin to the grim-faced Ling Hong, her heart a tangle of emotions. It was incredibly awkward.
After realizing she liked Ling Hong, her only thought had been to cut the knot and beco his mate, hoping it would save them both from any further turmoil. She never imagined the real trouble was yet to co.
She couldn’t favor either one of them. In the Beast World, that was a huge taboo.
Doing so could easily provoke the other male’s resentnt, planting an emotional ti bomb that might even threaten the precious female’s safety.
An Jin wisely remained silent, looking down at the tips of her toes, then at the empty air beside her.
The few seconds of silence between the three of them felt like a century-long standoff. In the end, it was Ling Hong who yielded first. "You get a day, I get a day. We’ll take turns being with her."
"HISS~"
Gu Yin looked at him dangerously, his bright red tongue flickering frequently. His nearly ten-ter-long, black-and-red snake tail tensed, scraping repeatedly against the floor.
Ling Hong let out a breath and gave An Jin a hurt, reluctant glance. In the end, he conceded, his voice dropping. "...You get two days, I get one. We’ll take turns with Jin’er."
Gu Yin considered it for a mont, then, seeming grudgingly satisfied, he scooped her up and carried her to his room.
It was a forceful declaration that his ti started now.
Ling Hong glared resentfully at Gu Yin’s retreating, swaggering form. But then he rembered that Gu Yin had been gone for almost a month, and during that entire ti, he had been the one by An Jin’s side. The thought brought him so relief.
Dejectedly, he went to his own room.
’But once you’ve been with a female, you can’t forget that soft, warm feeling. It captivates you, leaving you wanting more... Now, as a lone wolf, he found he couldn’t sleep.’
Once the door was shut, with no outsiders to disturb them, Gu Yin carried An Jin to his bed. His snake tail naturally coiled around her, the tip rubbing against her lower abdon.
An Jin sensed his intentions and couldn’t help but kick his tail with her foot. She laughed despite herself. "You’re at it again..."
Gu Yin gently grasped her small, fair foot, kneading it in his palm. He flipped her over, pinning her in his embrace, and kissed the corner of her eye. "We haven’t mated in a whole month. You should have plenty of energy this ti. You can’t refuse ."
’The mont he saw her, he felt an instinctual urge to be close, to connect on a deeper level. It was as simple as that.’
「Morning ca quickly.」
A thin layer of mist dissipated in the forest. The weather had been warming up over the past few days, and the sun grew hotter with each passing day.
Dressed in only a thin tube top and a short skirt, An Jin got up, tidied herself a bit, then took so soap pods and a scrubbing fruit down to the river to wash.
When she returned, she found the tribe’s Beastn shouting loudly as they herded their cargo.
"BAA~"
"MOO~"
Good heavens, so many animals! An Jin rubbed her eyes, almost gaping in disbelief. She watched as the Beastn tried to herd a huge drove of beasts into the grass sheds.
A Tiger Beast wiped the hot sweat from his face and trotted over excitedly. "Didn’t the Clan Leader tell us to keep an eye out for these Miaomiao Beasts?"
"Today was a huge haul! We were just out hunting like usual, but we found this herd of Miaomiao Beasts gathering to drink near the Great Soup River. We imdiately herded them back to the tribe!"
A few of the male Miaomiao Beasts were in heat, and being aggressive and disobedient, they were simply eaten on the spot.
But there were still nearly a hundred Miaomiao Beasts left, a full double the size of last year’s herd.
On the way back, they also found over a dozen MooMoo Beasts, and they were absolutely ecstatic.
These MooMoo Beasts could also give birth and produce milk. Plus, they were bigger, and their at was firr and fattier, comparable to delicious wild boar. It was one of their favorite kinds of at.
The Beastn figured they could probably be raised too, so they captured them alive and brought them back.
During last year’s harsh winter, the Beastn had co to deeply understand the benefits of raising livestock.
If An Jin hadn’t told them to raise so many Miaomiao Beasts and Wild Grass Birds, they might have actually starved to death during the harsh winter when prey was scarce.
Having had a taste of the benefits, the Beastn began searching for more livestock with greater purpose this year. Whenever they encountered a herd in the forest, they captured it alive and brought it back.
The three large grass sheds could no longer hold all the animals.
Now, the tribe’s livestock operation was getting bigger and bigger. An Jin found so ti to go check on the crowded grass sheds.
Her expression changed instantly. She pinched her nose, unable to breathe.
It was absolutely atrocious. The sheds were damp and reeked of dung and trampled weeds. There weren’t enough Beastn to spare for dedicated cleaning duty, and all sorts of flies and insects were buzzing about...
