Before Shen Ji could swing his hoe, he watched helplessly as a long, erald-green snake, hanging upside down from a bamboo branch and flicking its scarlet tongue, suddenly bit down on the exposed forearm of the unsuspecting girl.

After biting the person, the green snake fell to the ground with a snap. Before Shen Ji could bring down his hoe, it quickly wriggled into the pile of bamboo leaves that had accumulated over the years, vanishing without a trace in an instant.

Liu Tinglan felt a sudden, intense pain in her forearm and imdiately dropped her hoe. Looking down, she saw two drops of black blood welling up on her pale arm, a sight so horrifying it was.

At that mont, Liu Tinglan did not yet realize that she had been bitten by a snake. It was not until she wiped away the blood beads and saw the two small puncture wounds on her arm that she beca aware of the source of the piercing pain, and her face turned deathly pale. She swayed unsteadily and was caught by Shen Ji, who was also pale with shock.

"Miss Liu, Miss Liu, how are you, what’s wrong with you?" His face ashen, Shen Ji’s hands shook violently as he supported her, and his lips trembled, unable to form a complete sentence.

As she looked at her rapidly swelling, blackened arm, Liu Tinglan’s face grew paler. Seeing Shen Ji’s frantic face, her heart, previously filled with fear and unrest, miraculously cald, and she spoke with a calm that surprised even herself, "You saw it, it was a Poisonous Snake, wasn’t it? Perhaps, I might..."

"Don’t talk nonsense!" Shen Ji interrupted her before she could utter the word ’die,’ his usually warm eyes flaming with anger, "Don’t talk nonsense, you won’t die, I won’t let you die, I won’t!"

After speaking, he bent down and, under Liu Tinglan’s incredulous gaze, hesitated not a mont to suck on the bleeding wound on her forearm.

"No—no! Brother Shen, let go, please let go of ..." Liu Tinglan did not cry when bitten by the snake, but the mont Shen Ji bent down to extract the poison from her arm, her heart twisted with pain, and her tears flooded down like a dam had burst.

The people, who rushed over upon hearing the news, could tell without asking that Liu Tinglan had been bitten by a snake when they saw the filthy blood Shen Ji spat out and the glaringly obvious puncture wounds on Liu Tinglan’s arm. The sudden turn of events left everyone stunned.

"Lanlan—" Mrs. Liu couldn’t cope with the shock; her vision went dark, and she slumped onto her husband, tears streaming down her face.

Compared to her, Mr. Liu was much calr. One hand supporting his wife, he reached out to pull Shen Ji away. As worried as he was for his daughter’s safety, he didn’t want to see soone risk their life trying to save her. Not knowing what kind of snake had bitten her, a single mishap could endanger both their lives.

Shen Ji pressed firmly against Liu Tinglan’s arm, trying to delay the spread of the venom. He noticed Mr. Liu’s attempt to interfere, raised his head, spat out the filthy blood, and with a grim smile tainted his pale lips, "Count, let Yun Jin do it!"

Without waiting for Mr. Liu’s reaction, he bent his head again and placed his blood-stained lips back onto the wound on Liu Tinglan’s forearm.

Mr. Liu’s heart jolted, as if he had realized sothing, and quickly turned to Mo Yan, who was running towards them with the Water Sack, "Yan girl, do you have any dicine pills for snake venom with you?"

Everyone present knew that Mo Yan was studying dicine under Mr. Du and was aware that she would carry so dicinal pills for ergencies.

"I don’t!" Mo Yan shook her head, her complexion very unsightly. She opened the Water Sack and said to Shen Ji, "Brother Shen, I’ve dissolved so antidote in the water, it should help. Quickly rinse your mouth, and I will take care of Sister Lan’s poisoning."
