Watching Little Black, Xiao Ruiyuan’s eyes twitched, believing that this horse hardly qualified as a horse, though it could just about serve to teach children.

Yet what followed took him by surprise. Not only was Little Black gentle, but after his teaching, it actually began to understand so simple commands. Had it not been so scrawny, he might have thought it was a retired war horse.

"Who picked out this horse?" Xiao Ruiyuan asked Zhenzhen curiously, impressed by the discerning eye for horses, thinking that, although small, with proper care, it might turn out to be a great steed.

"My big sister picked it. She spent only Eight Tael Silver! The day Little Black arrived, he had diarrhea. We all thought he wouldn’t make it, but my big sister said he would definitely get better, and sure enough, Little Black did and even grew prettier. Big brother, don’t you think my big sister has a great eye?"

Zhenzhen proudly rattled off, her heart and eyes filled with admiration for her big sister.

"Hmm, your big sister indeed has a good eye," Xiao Ruiyuan listened attentively, eager to learn more about the girl he fancied, "What does your big sister usually do at ho?"

Zhenzhen tilted her head and thought, counting on her fingers, saying, "Sotis she goes up the mountain with Little Flower, sotis to the orchard on the back mountain, then she reads books, makes clothes, takes care of Little Fur Ball, cuts grass to feed Little Black, and Da Huang and Little Yellow and Little Little Yellow, and then she makes delicious cakes..."

Xiao Ruiyuan listened intently, picturing in his mind the many expressions of a woman doing these things—mischevious, stern, tender... He suddenly really wanted to stay, even if it was just to watch her do these ordinary things every day.

Zhenzhen prattled on and on and eventually looked up at the distracted Xiao Ruiyuan to ask, "Big brother, don’t you think my big sister is the best sister in the world?"

Xiao Ruiyuan snapped back to reality, the corners of his lips curling slightly, "She is the best."

Little did he know, Zhenzhen was grabbing her hair in distress, "But the last ti we visited father, Uncle Han wanted to propose a marriage for big sister. What should I do if I don’t want my big sister to get married?"

Xiao Ruiyuan’s gaze turned icy, shooting a cold arrow at Zhenzhen, "Which uncle?"

Zhenzhen was frightened by his frigid gaze, stamring, "It’s... It’s Uncle Han."

Ying ying, big sister, co quickly, big brother is so scary!

Uncle Han?

Xiao Ruiyuan let out a cold snort, his fists clenched tightly. He didn’t care about so Uncle Han or Uncle Cold; if anyone wanted to ddle and take away the person he liked, they would have to see if he would agree!

Only, the girl was growing up, and it might be possible that a marriage arrangent would be made for her before she even ca of age, which he hated to think about. Now was not a good ti to reveal his feelings. Otherwise, he would have to find a way to secure their marital status first.

Realizing his beloved might be spoken for without his knowledge, Xiao Ruiyuan felt a blockage in his chest, waves of irritation washing over him.

Even if she were betrothed, he could steal her away, but that would surely damage her reputation. He must co up with a way to prevent this from happening.

He ran through various defensive strategies in his mind, none of which were suitable. Xiao Ruiyuan suppressed the anxiety in his heart and looked down to find the confused-looking Zhenzhen. An idea flashed into his mind, and he focused his gaze on her.

Zhenzhen, feeling his piercing stare, shivered involuntarily, a bad feeling rising in her heart.

Mo Yan ca over with a bucket of diluted Spirit Spring Water to feed the horses and cattle and saw the two, one tall, one short, whispering sothing together. When they noticed her, they parted as if nothing had happened.

"What are you talking about?" Mo Yan asked casually.
