Ji Sang first looked down at the SLR cara in her hand, then at Ah Xing, and after confirming that she wanted the SLR, she approached.
"It might be a bit heavy."
After advising her, Ji Sang placed the SLR in Ah Xing’s hands.
Ah Xing’s eyes shifted from full of confusion to curiosity, and later, even tears welled up in her eyes.
Ji Sang, who was already on edge in her mind due to her own nightmarish experiences, was afraid that Ah Xing would rember the painful past events from the orphanage upon seeing the SLR cara.
Seeing Ah Xing in this state now, her heart was already in a panic.
She asked carefully,
"What’s wrong?"
Ah Xing also realized her loss of composure, placed the SLR on the small stone table in the pavilion, and raised her hand to wipe the corner of her eye.
"It just feels sowhat familiar, I’m not quite sure why, but the emotions just ca flooding in."
Ji Sang helped Ah Xing to sit down, carefully observing her expression.
With a hint of probing, she asked,
"Did you rember anything?"
During her treatnt with Chang Li, she had heard that familiar objects and scenarios can stimulate the brain, a common thod used in mory recovery treatnts.
Auntie was a journalist, and nothing was more familiar to her than caras.
In the sanitarium, every day she only painted, had she forgotten that she once held the cara with such passion, capturing the myriad things of this world?
Fu Zhixing was an extrely intelligent woman. Even with severe injuries and mory loss, she remained sensitive to the unfolding events.
Like why she felt a connection when she t Ji Sang.
Like why she felt so familiar upon seeing the objects Ji Sang held.
And like why Ji Sang had expectation and probing in her eyes as she watched her.
And then...
The question she asked.
Ah Xing had never given up on searching for her true self, so she looked up earnestly and directly at Ji Sang, and asked with grave seriousness,
"Do you perhaps know who I am?"
After asking, Ah Xing kept her gaze fixed on Ji Sang, trying to glean so bit of information from her reaction.
Ji Sang truly did not expect Ah Xing to ask so directly and was montarily panicked and at a loss.
For today’s visit, Ji Sang had thought through countless probing scenarios the night before, but she hadn’t anticipated this sharp perception from her auntie.
Ji Sang struggled to maintain her composure, pulling at the corners of her mouth.
"Why would you ask that?"
She threw the question back at her, wanting to see Ah Xing’s attitude towards the matter.
If there was no resistance, that would be best; it would be easier to divulge her identity.
Ah Xing spoke of her guesses and conjectures.
In the mont of speaking, the gentleness in her eyes turned to sternness.
From an intellectually gentle woman to a wise and determined one.
Ji Sang was montarily dazzled; was this what her auntie looked like when working?
Seeing no signs of resistance as Ah Xing spoke, but rather, Ji Sang could discern a hint of anticipation in her eyes.
Ji Sang’s heart suddenly beca steady.
She nodded truthfully, and then squatted down in front of Ah Xing, placing her hand on the back of her hand.
"I indeed know your identity."
As Ji Sang finished speaking, she noticed Ah Xing’s hand trembling, and then Ah Xing subconsciously clasped her hand back.
Ji Sang was startled for a mont, then suddenly laughed.
Even the small mannerisms were just like Fu Yisi’s.
They were really intimate family, after all.
Ji Sang looked up, directly into Ah Xing’s eyes, and asked,
"Do you want to know?"
