Really? Can you stick to one promise, or is breaking them and saying ’sorry’ all you’re capable of? Let warn you, Sidney—this wasn’t just any promise. This was a deal. I signed the divorce papers with Aiden, as agreed, and you promised to protect my company. Now that I’ve held up my end, you’re planning to back out? If you break this deal, there will be consequences."
Serena’s voice was sharp, her anger palpable as she tossed the papers onto the desk. Sidney’s brows drew together as he picked up the docunts, his eyes scanning the pages with growing confusion. "How is this possible?" he muttered with a hint of disbelief in his voice.
"Oh, now you’re going to pretend you don’t know?" Serena snapped as she cocked her head and spoke in a cold and unyielding tone. "That’s not going to work, Sidney. Up until now, I’ve kept my sights off you, but push further, and you’ll see just how far I’m willing to go."
Sidney looked up, his expression shifting from confusion to steely resolve. He sighed, setting the papers down carefully. "Rena, I’ll give you a proper answer. But first, tell —why did you send those things to Ava?"
"What things are you talking about?" Serena’s eyes narrowed before realization crossed her face. A smirk curved her lips. "Ah, you an those papers detailing your ’truthful nature,’ Sidney?" She shook her head and let out a dry laugh. "Are you seriously still stuck on that? Those were a little engagent gift for my sister, a heads-up so she’d know the kind of ss she was getting herself into."
Her tone hardened as she leaned in, eyes glinting with warning. "But you need to stop obsessing over that and start figuring out why my company suddenly has an additional director nad Aiden Hawk. If you don’t, my next ’gift’ will be one you can’t escape from. Do I make myself clear?"
With that, Serena left the room, leaving behind nothing but a whiff of her anger. As she left, a small person hurriedlytyped out the words," they have fought", and sent it to an unknown number.
Once back in her office, Serena exhaled, collecting herself before picking up the two files on her desk. She examined them briefly, her eyes narrowing with determination. Without a mont’s hesitation, she pressed the intercom button and called for her assistant.
Monts later, Mahi entered, her eyes flicking to the files on the desk with a frown. "I thought you said you didn’t want these touched," she said, voice tinged with confusion.
Serena’s lips curved into a cold smile as she leaned back in her chair. "Oh, I did. I was willing to spare them, but my opponent doesn’t play by those rules. If I’m going to be collateral damage, then so can they."
Mahi’s eyes widened as she processed Serena’s words. "So, you want to initiate actions that could see Ava behind bars for fraud, Sofia expelled from college, and Lucas’s foreign education revoked so he can’t return?"
Serena raised an eyebrow, amusent flickering in her gaze. "Not ’can’t return,’ Mahi. Just make it so getting a ticket back becos an obstacle. We both know he doesn’t have the funds stashed away, not with his love for lavish parties and reckless spending."
Mahi swallowed, the weight of Serena’s commands pressing heavily on her. "This is going to stir up more than just a little trouble," she said, her voice hesitant but steady.
Serena’s eyes glinted with a cold, calculated edge. "Exactly. And as for my dear Uncle Daniel—get the IRS on his tax evasion sches. I want those slush funds frozen so he won’t be able to bail anyone out."
Mahi’s brows shot up. "And what about the file on the entertainnt company? Do you want to drag that ss into this as well?"
Serena’s lips curled into a sly smile. "Why not? A little scandal never hurt the dia business. Let’s make sure the Dawns don’t just appear in the society pages. It’s ti they make headlines in cri, finance, and entertainnt. After all, we should do our part to keep the economy buzzing."
Mahi sighed, rolling her eyes. "Honestly, that Lydia story makes sick. That’s going to be the most damaging piece and not just to the Dawns. Who would’ve thought an old woman like her could be running a casting couch scandal and... doing those things to n. It’s appalling."
Serena’s expression didn’t waver as she looked at her assistant with a slight smile. "Did you actually go through the evidence yourself?"
Mahi shuddered at the mory, grimacing. "Of course. I have to verify everything before bringing it to you. Trust , my eyes needed bleaching after that. And I didn’t even feel this grossed out when I accidentally walked in on my aunt during one of her ’monts’ with her lover."
Serena let out a small, humorless chuckle. "A little personal sacrifice, Mahi. Now, get these reports in motion. We’re not just playing to win anymore; we’re playing to ruin them."
Mahi nodded and took the files, ready to proceed when she stopped," Why the sudden aggression? The other people have stayed quiet after Jane’s attack, right?"
"Hmm. But I am tired of waiting and playing this ga. They want to play this ga, then they either co out in the open or disappear into whatever hole they are living in and not co out of it."
Mahi raised an eyebrow," Ohhh! You’re going for the ba**s now! I’m impressed. What about Price? You not touching him for now?"
"Of course this will touch him. Have you seen the papers with Sidney’s mother in law giving him a doting look in the pictures...."
"Holy shi*! You an she and Sidney..."
"Nothing between them, but then again who is to stop those rumors..."
"Ewww! You’re playing dirty! Poor Ava might kill you for this!"
"She chose it! I did give her a fair warning."
