"Happy wrap party!"
In the grand banquet hall, the crew of "Xuanwu" raised their glasses and cheered together, celebrating the wrap-up.
Liu Yang finished a glass and imdiately refilled his own, also topping off Zhou Huaiyi’s, and said, "Co on, let’s drink together, assistant to the main actor!"
Zhou Huaiyi glanced at him disdainfully and took a sip on his own: "The assistant isn’t interested in drinking with you."
Liu Yang: "..."
The people around them burst into laughter.
After months of arduous filming, everyone now felt like soldiers who had shed their armor, feeling light and carefree.
Zhou Huaiyi watched from a distance as Xiang Qichen shared a toast and laughed with the director, and couldn’t help but smile with satisfaction.
Qi Chen... Congratulations on wrapping up.
That night, nearly everyone from the "Xuanwu" crew got overly excited, each drinking one glass after another without stopping. Even the usually reserved and steady Xiang Qichen ended up happily drunk.
After eating and drinking to their hearts’ content, everyone wasn’t idle, dancing and showcasing their talents, even turning the event into a large-scale karaoke session.
As the lead actor of this series, Xiang Qichen didn’t miss a single mont, singing and doing sorsaults as if he’d reverted to how Zhou Huaiyi rembered him when she first t him: cheerful, sunny, and spirited, just like an unrestrained big kid.
The tipsy Xiang Qichen was adorably reckless.
Zhou Huaiyi couldn’t sit still either; her phone’s video function stayed on all night, recording Xiang Qichen’s carefree antics, making her laugh uncontrollably.
The joyous wrap party continued until the early hours of the morning, and when it was ti to disperse, almost everyone was drunk. As Xiang Qichen’s newly appointed personal assistant, the responsibility of taking him ho naturally fell to Zhou Huaiyi.
It was late and cold, with Xiang Qichen not having driven there, and Zhou Huaiyi hesitating to call Yang Li for a ride, she decided to take advantage of the unusually quiet streets to have them walk ho and sober up.
The dim streetlights on the sidewalk cast a faint glow on Xiang Qichen’s black baseball cap, and in the dusky light, Zhou Huaiyi could barely see his flushed cheeks.
Xiang Qichen was indeed sowhat drunk, but at least he was still conscious and walking steadily.
Zhou Huaiyi hooked her arm through his and led him forward step by step.
A cold wind suddenly blew against them, lifting her long hair by her temples, making Zhou Huaiyi shiver. She turned her head and asked him, "Are you cold?"
Xiang Qichen reached over to pull her closer under his arm, replying, "Not cold."
Zhou Huaiyi, both amused and slightly embarrassed, stood on tiptoe to pull the fleece-lined hood of his coat over his head to keep him warm.
Seeing this, Xiang Qichen also turned around, extending his long arm to pull the furry hood of her down jacket over her.
However, her hood was oversized, and with a bit of force from Xiang Qichen, the fur covered her vision.
Zhou Huaiyi paused, unable to help but laugh aloud, and was about to adjust the hood when suddenly she felt a weight on her head; his thick hand pressed down on her head through the hood.
The furry brim instantly blocked all the light before her eyes.
Zhou Huaiyi instinctively raised her hand to wave it twice.
The next mont, she felt her lips suddenly ward, with a gust of warm, alcohol-tinged breath from the man rushing at her.
In the dark, Zhou Huaiyi’s eyes widened, and the hands that hung in mid-air now felt even more unsure of where to go.
The cars speeding by on the road brought a roaring sound, and Xiang Qichen slightly lifted his head, staring at Zhou Huaiyi’s lips, moistened from the kiss. His heart stirred, and he tugged her hat’s brim down further, then bundled her into his coat and walked on.
Zhou Huaiyi: "..."
——
The next morning, Zhou Huaiyi lay in bed, touching her lips in thought.
Did she get kissed last night?
She did, right?
Was it a dream or did it actually happen?
Why did it feel so unreal?
Wasn’t the kiss too brief?
Why didn’t he use his tongue?
Two knocks interrupted her morning thoughts.
"Huaiyi, are you up?"
The man’s deep and magnetic voice ca from the other side of the door.
Zhou Huaiyi shot up from bed, cleared her throat, and replied, "Yes... I’m up."
With that, the door lock turned, and Xiang Qichen’s footsteps drew closer.
Three seconds later, he appeared in front of her dressed in casual ho wear: "Morning."
Zhou Huaiyi reached up to smooth out her hair, smiling with crescent eyes: "Morning."
