"Blood!" she cried, clinging onto him tightly and crumpling his sleeves.

"You an this?" Shentu Jing raised an eyebrow and motioned to the blood on his white shirt, which resembled red poppies.

She nodded tearfully.

"You’re bleeding. We need to find a doctor," she said, her voice trembling.

So she was crying because she thought he was injured? Shentu Jing felt an imnse amount of happiness knowing that she cared for him.

He couldn’t help but smile as he tried to comfort her.

"Little Pearl, don’t cry. It’s not mine," his voice was gentle, and his tender gaze seed to penetrate her soul.

She looked up into those dark eyes, which were gazing at her lovingly, and sniffled.

"Really. I’m okay. See?" He spread his arms, showing that he wasn’t in pain.

Peixuan Ruxi ca running over to them but quickly stopped in his tracks when he saw the scene before him.

Eh, this scene... isn’t it too romantic?

Qin Zhuzhu unwrapped her arms from his waist and carefully checked his abdon. If it wasn’t his blood, then it must belong to others.

After a while, Qin Zhuzhu cald down and regained her composure.

"Did you kill soone?" Her voice was small and soft as she asked him.

Shentu Jing thought about lying to her, but a gut feeling told him it wasn’t a good idea.

"I did," he admitted truthfully.

Peixuan Ruxi slapped his own forehead. How can you tell a girl you killed soone? That’s not the way to confess to a girl!

"But they were all criminals—rcenaries who worked on a pay-to-hire basis. They’ve committed many cris before joining an organization that allows clients to hire them for dirty work," Shentu Jing quickly explained.

Dirty work? Yes, she had almost beco the "dirty work" of others. Since those people were criminals, there was no need to feel sorry for them—especially after what they had done to her.

Shentu Jing was worried she might beco angry with him, but she only looked up at him without saying a word.

"Stinky Jing, I want to find Sanya," Qin Zhuzhu’s teary eyes tugged at Shentu Jing’s heartstrings.

"You’re not scared of ?" Shentu Jing asked slowly, afraid she might run away from him after learning about his dark past.

Qin Zhuzhu shook her head. "You saved . Why should I be afraid? You won’t harm ."

It surprised her that she felt so comfortable and relaxed in his arms.

Shentu Jing reached out and stroked her tear-stained cheeks with his clean hand.

"Don’t worry about Sanya. Lao Xi has her in his custody," Shentu Jing reassured her.

Qin Zhuzhu didn’t dare to look at the ss around them, so she kept her gaze fixed on Shentu Jing. The scene behind them reminded her of what had happened ten years ago in that crash.

Although she had hit her head and her mories were blurry, she could still vaguely recall the events of that day.

Wait a minute... Qin Zhuzhu suddenly had an ominous feeling. She had been captured by the Xu sisters and brought here.

Then what had happened to the Xu sisters? She hadn’t seen them escape. She suddenly rembered what Peixuan Ruxi had said:

Ah Jing is beating up those who hard you.

Don’t tell he killed the Xu sisters!!!?

Qin Zhuzhu’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

---

At the Xu Corporation headquarters:

"Mr. Xu, the CEO of the Shentu Group wants to see you," the assistant said to Xu ng, who was deeply engrossed in his work.

Xu ng paused, his hand tightening around the ballpoint pen.

"I’m not seeing him," he said coldly after a mont of thought.

Why should he give Shentu Jing face and respect? Xu ng hated Shentu Jing for nearly crushing his company. But he beca even angrier when he saw Qin Zhuzhu with him.

He must have been crazy to think of his ex-wife having a good ti with his business rival. Xu ng sohow felt a lack of enthusiasm about his upcoming marriage to Bai Qianhua. It was strange, but he didn’t feel as excited about it as he had been when they were dating years ago.

"But sir, Mr. Shentu is... not..." The assistant was shivering and stuttering.

"Not what?" Xu ng snapped. That Shentu Jing must have co here to cause trouble. Xu ng still hadn’t forgiven him for the financial losses he had inflicted on the Xu Corporation.

There had been tis when Xu ng saw them hanging out together, even eating cotton candy. He suddenly rembered that Qin Zhuzhu had once told him she liked cotton candy, but he had never bought her any.

This feeling was strange. Xu ng couldn’t comprehend it. All he knew was that Qin Zhuzhu, his ex-wife, had beco soone entirely different from the woman he had married. Was she pretending the whole ti? Was she really a gold-digger, as the rumors said? Did she have ulterior motives? But it was she who had given him five billion yuan to revive the Xu Corporation, which made Xu ng seem like the gold-digger.

What a pretentious woman, he sneered. He could never figure out which version of her was real. Qin Zhuzhu, why are you so hard to decipher? Why did you cause trouble for Qianhua’s brother and beat him up?

"He’s not requesting an audience... He’s... demanding that you co see him, or else..." The assistant was quivering and sweating profusely.

"Or else what? Say it all at once, or go settle your salary at the HR departnt!" Xu ng snapped, throwing the pen down.

The assistant quickly dropped to his knees out of fear. Talking to and eting with Shentu Jing was already a nightmare, and now he had to deliver a ssage that might cost him his job—or worse. The poor assistant was scared out of his wits.

"He... said... that if you don’t et him imdiately, he’ll... he’ll... bring your entire Xu Corporation down and that your sisters... are in his hands," the assistant stamred, close to tears.

Bang!

Xu ng slamd his fists on the table and stood up. How dare Shentu Jing threaten him?!
