Magic Council – Era

"You say that still exists? How is that possible?!" The panicked voice revealed the speaker's identity—Org, a mber of the Magic Council, who was overwheld by shock and unease.

"About ten years ago, a magic cult devoted to black magic attempted to construct the R-System," another council mber muttered, recalling the origins of the Tower of Heaven.

"There were supposed to be seven towers, right? I thought we had completely eradicated all of them," Yajima said uncertainly.

"There's still an eighth tower, located near the waters of Kalmu."

"At this stage... could it already be complete?" One of the council mbers stared in shock at the towering structure displayed on the circular magic screen, which appeared fully built from the outside.

"Unfortunately, after the investigation team sent back these images, they went missing," a cold voice stated indifferently, devoid of concern for the investigators' fate, as if rely lanting their failure to fulfill their duties.

"It has been completed," Ultear murmured expressionlessly, gazing at the black tower on the screen.

"Why would the R-System still exist at this point...?"

"The Tower of Heaven," Siegrain, who had remained silent with his arms crossed and eyes closed since the eting began, suddenly spoke. "It's not the R-System—it's the Tower of Heaven, isn't it?"

"The na hardly matters. It's forbidden magic. Just knowing of its existence could throw the world into chaos," Org said impatiently.

"We must prepare imdiately and send the military forces at once. There's no ti to waste—we must suppress it as soon as possible," one of the council mbers proposed.

"But we still don't know who the enemy is..."

"The enemy?" an elderly female council mber repeated curiously.

"The incident that occurred near the borders of Akane Resort last night... According to eyewitness testimonies, it seems that the R-System is not being controlled by the sa magic cult as before."

"Then who exactly is behind it?" The council mbers fell into deep thought.

After all, an unknown enemy was the most terrifying.

Acting recklessly without first understanding their opponent would be unwise.

"A man... he claid to be Jellal," one of the council mbers suddenly spoke.

At these words, all eyes in the council chamber turned toward Siegrain's direction.

"Jellal? That's your twin brother, isn't it, Siegrain?"

Faced with the shocked and questioning gazes of his fellow council mbers, Siegrain did not hesitate or attempt to hide anything.

Instead, he calmly nodded. "Yes, I am aware of this matter as well."

Following Siegrain's response, an uneasy silence fell over the council chamber, a stark contrast to the heated discussions just monts ago.

"Even so, we must take action," Michello was the first to break the silence.

"First, we need to gather intelligence. We must deploy military forces imdiately."

"Pathetic fools."

Siegrain's disdainful remark was like a spark igniting a firestorm, causing the council's older mbers to erupt in fury.

"Those who propose deploying the military are nothing more than incompetent vermin," he added coldly.

Siegrain's voice seed to tremble with agitation.

"That thing is dangerous—far too dangerous."

"What are you trying to say?"

"You don't understand anything at all. If you want to eliminate the Tower of Heaven imdiately, there's only one way—use the satellite magic array to fire Etherion."

"What did you just say?"

"You an the ultimate space-ti destruction magic?"

"Are you insane?"

"Can you even predict the extent of the damage? If the power is even slightly off, this magic could destroy an entire country!"

"Etherion is our ultimate weapon—it's an even more dangerous magic than the R-System."

"But using the satellite magic array, we can target anything on the ground. And to eliminate that massive structure, only Etherion can do it," Siegrain said darkly.

"I agree." Ultear calmly raised her right hand, looking completely indifferent.

"Ultear, even you...?"

"There are nine of us in the council. If we get three more votes, Etherion can be fired," Siegrain said anxiously, scanning the faces of the council mbers. "There's no ti—we absolutely cannot allow them to activate the R-System."

"Even if it ans your brother Jellal loses his life?"

"Of course. That system is far too dangerous," Siegrain said coldly, as if Jellal had nothing to do with him at all.

"I agree."

After a brief silence, a council mber raised his hand.

"Master Leiji!"

"It can't be helped... We need two more votes. There's no ti."

"According to intelligence, the Ten Wizard Saint Noel Rutherford is also heading toward that tower. If Etherion is fired, Noel Rutherford will die there as well," Yajima suddenly said.

"What?!"

"Noel Rutherford? Then we must think this through carefully. Noel Rutherford has earned widespread respect among both mages and civilians for frequently assisting those he encounters on missions. In terms of reputation and public trust, even among the Ten Wizard Saints, no one can compare to him. If we fire Etherion and he perishes in the Tower of Heaven, it will cause a massive uproar."

"If nothing else, just the rumor that a mber of the Ten Wizard Saints died due to the council's decision would have unimaginable consequences."

Hearing Yajima's words, the council mbers who had initially leaned toward Siegrain's proposal began to waver once again, hesitation visible on their faces.

A cold glint flashed in Siegrain's eyes as he spoke, "Oh, I've also received another piece of information—on the Tower of Heaven, the Seven Thrones of the Demon God's Soul are present. Their exact numbers remain unknown."

"The Seven Thrones of the Demon God's Soul!?"

The entire council was shocked upon hearing Siegrain's words.

"How is that possible? They've resurfaced? What is their goal?"

Seeing their reactions, a strange smile crept onto Siegrain's lips.

"That's right. Surely none of you have forgotten—the event two years ago, arguably the greatest humiliation in the history of the Magic Council. At that ti, even one of the Ten Wizard Saints perished at the hands of the Seven Thrones of the Demon God's Soul. Our council suffered a disgrace beyond asure.

Everyone, the Demon God's Soul is our true mortal enemy. If we can eliminate them at the cost of a single Wizard Saint, I personally think it's well worth it."

"Siegrain, you...!"

Yajima looked around at the council mbers, their expressions grim.

He knew they had already made up their minds.

The Demon God's Soul was like a thorn in the council's side—anything related to them would be t with imdiate and absolute eradication.

Now that one of the Seven Thrones had appeared, there was no doubt about their decision.

"I agree."

"So do I."

"If the Seven Thrones of the Demon God's Soul are truly there, then I also support this decision."

As Yajima had expected, one by one, the council mbers—except for him—raised their hands.

("Is it over...? Damn it.")

Yajima's heart grew heavy as he thought grimly to himself.
