He Shutong finally understood and smiled, "He has always treated the people around him extrely well."
Wangshu nodded emphatically, "My junior brother treats very well. Master, I want to ask a question."
"Ask if you want to ask."
He Shutong wished for Wangshu to ask more questions; she now enjoyed this feeling of being needed by her disciple.
"What does ’perfect couple’ an?"
"Perfect couple?"
He Shutong reflected for a mont before realizing which two words they were. She unknowingly furrowed her brows, like a stern mother discovering her young daughter’s awakening feelings, and asked seriously, "Why are you asking this?"
Wangshu keenly sensed a faint heavy tone, paused twice—a rarity—and tentatively asked:
"Is this question not allowed?"
He Shutong couldn’t bear to refuse Wangshu, "It’s not that you can’t... where did you learn these two words from?"
"On a congratulatory note." Wangshu replied honestly.
"A congratulatory note? Is there a senior from Profound Sky Sect recently celebrating a new Dao partner?"
Celebrating a Dao partnership is a big event, and even though it’s known that Lotus Sword Venerable wouldn’t attend the banquet, proper etiquette must be observed. Thus, quite a few congratulatory notes and invitations are sent annually to Lotus Peak. He Shutong naturally associated it with a fellow cultivator finding a Dao partner, as the term ’perfect couple’ often appears in wedding invitations.
"Mr. He has found a second Dao companion, a female disciple from the Spirit Treasure Sect." Wangshu replied truthfully, bowing her head slightly. This matter indeed stirred quite a wave within Profound Sky Sect and was only ntioned when the Third Elder casually chatted with Wangshu.
"Mr. He? Isn’t he the young elder from the ceremonial hall? He’s quite old..."
He Shutong didn’t think much, just expressing sentint that soone so elderly could still rejuvenate and find a second Dao companion. Presumably, this sort of old-with-young pairing puzzled Wangshu about the aning of ’perfect couple’.
He Shutong explained:
"A perfect couple refers to a good spouse; among cultivators, it ans a suitable Dao companion. If Mr. He and that young Spirit Treasure Sect disciple truly love each other, it’s also not inappropriate to call them a perfect couple. As long as there is true love and they can support each other, regardless of age or status, they can be terd a perfect couple."
Wangshu’s pure white lashes trembled slightly:
"Dao companion... does that an a partner who practices cultivation together?"
"In the past, it indeed ant that, but now Dao friends and Dao companions are distinguished. Dao companions often refer to couples or spouses who practice together."
The young girl in the white dress had never felt her heart beating so intensely; tightly clutching a tuft of the white fox’s fur, her eyes sparkled intermittently with light.
He Shutong assud Wangshu hadn’t yet fully grasped it. After so many years, it was the first ti she discussed the topic of n and won with this pure disciple. She smiled:
"In the future, Wangshu can also find a Dao companion to accompany each other, so the path of immortality won’t be lonely."

Wangshu gently nodded, then raised her head, her eyes shining bright. She extended her hand, gently touching the edge where the Jade Rabbit Mask t her jade neck, and said to He Shutong:
