Henry was left dumbfounded at his best friend's words.
"He knows Alia? How?" He echoed in his mind, his heart drumming in his ears.
Here he was thinking he had found the girl of his dreams when the latter was already taken by his heartless friend. From the look of Alia's bewildered reaction, it was clear that sothing tangible was going on between them. He recalled how Blaze had reacted to him the other day when he spotted Alia for the first ti and declared his interest in her. His reaction could be likened to that of a ferocious lion marking his territory.
'But what changed? Didn't Blaze swear that he would have nothing to do with won after Tina dumped and left him for her career? What was he doing with the beautiful and lively young lady? What did he do to coax a beautiful and free-spirited girl like Alia to tremble at his sight? Was she sohow indebted to him? Did he have her in so sort of crazy arrangent?'
Harry's head began to ache from so many clashing questions. He needed answers. He wanted to desperately know if he still had a chance with Alia. He wouldn't let Blaze hurt her. He wouldn't let her suffer the backlash of a selfish lady who took advantage of his friend's love. He would save Alia from Blaze if she didn't love him. He would love her unconditionally and even marry her if she accepted him.
"Open the wine and fill everyone's glasses," Blaze instructed the waiter in a deep and commanding tone.
"Yes sir." The waiter did as instructed.
"You can get lost." Blaze gestured with a wave of his hand.
When it was back to just the four of them in the room, Blaze replied to his mother's question, returning his soft gaze to her curiously brimming eyes.
"Yes, mom. I know her. Funny right?"
Maria's jaws dropped, her sowhat thrilled and troubled gaze darting between her son and her young lady friend. She could see the panic clearly written on Alia's face and it didn't speak well of a promising first encounter.
"How?" Maria pushed on, directing her question to Blaze.
"We t in an awkward situation..."
Blaze drawled, holding everyone on the table spellbound while he leisurely helped himself to the spicy beef stew that he saw Alia eating. He knew that she won't get to enjoy her al anymore especially now that she was in a disoriented state. What better way to punish her than to make her watch him enjoy the sa al while poking holes into her crumbling composure.
A wicked idea crossed his mind and he couldn't wait to accomplish it. This if executed properly, would not only help him to stake his genuine claim on Alia without having to hurt Henry, but it would set his mother's troubled mind at ease concerning his resolution on marriage.
Taking a scoop of the hot and spicy beef stew into his mouth, her savored the different blend of spices, unaffected by the scalding heat and spiciness.
"Blaze, I thought you were about to tell us sothing?" Maria's brows pulled together in a frown.
"Yes bro, stop keeping us in suspense. What awkward situation did both of you find yourself in."
Alia took her glass of water on the table with shaky hands and took a few sips to quench the inferno burning inside of her, as though she was the one eating the spicy food.
Blaze chuckled inwardly at Alia's reaction before speaking with the sa leisured tone.
"Forgive , Mom, I'm a bit famished after a long flight and this food is really spicy. I wouldn't want to choke on it. So, I'll leave Alia to tell you all about our awkward eting." Blaze took another mouth full of the beef stew, before turning his now amused gaze to Alia.
Alia almost peed herself as she felt every pair of eyes on the table tilt towards her. She dropped the glass of water back on the table with a shaky hand and slipped both her trembling hands under the table to hide them.
"Oh God... I hope she's not my son's one-night stand." Maria prayed earnestly in her heart. This was the reigning topic amongst her friends and she feared that Alia may be a victim of such a disgraceful encounter seeing how she was looking so pale and unsettled.
Nevertheless, if Alia happened to be Blaze's one-night stand, Maria wasn't going to judge her. She had co to love the girl as if she was her daughter.
Alia, whose forehead was now covered in beads of sweat like a criminal about to face the lie detector, shifted uneasily on her chair. If only she had the power to vanish from this room right now, she would disappear and never show her face to Maria again. She gulped down the lump in her throat as she searched her disoriented mind for the right thing to say. She could bring herself to lie to Maria. Not after the genuine and rare relationship she has built with the woman over the space of two days. She would rather tell the truth and damn the consequences.
"Ahem..." Alia cleared her throat, while moistening her lips, an innocent action that captured Blaze's sensual attention.
"I...I...umm....I...I will be as honest as possible." Alia managed to say faintly giving Blaze a hint that she wasn't going to tell a lie.
"Sure." Blaze picked up his glass of wine and raised it to his lips. "Don't forget to tell them how you stole a kiss from on two different occasions." He said before taking another sip.
Alia's eyes widened like a saucer, her nose, her cheeks and the tip of her ears reddened in embarrassnt. She was tempted to pick up her glass of wine and hurl it on Blaze's beaming face. But not in front of his mother. She couldn't bring herself to display his wild side in front of everyone on the table.
Maria who was initially worried thinking their eting was sothing scandalous couldn't help beaming as her son specified that the kiss happened on two different occasions.
Henry on the other hand didn't like the way Blaze was taunting Alia. He thought of helping her out but only ended up embarrassing her further.
"What era are you in Blaze, the dieval era where won were discouraged from expressing their feelings or emotions? You should be grateful that a beautiful girl like Alia kissed a grumpy fellow like you.
