Alia caught the hand in mid-air, her freshly manicured nails digging into Pearl's flesh as she forced the hand down.
"Agh!" Pearl cried out.
Desmond quickly rushed over to Pearls' side and freed her hands from Alia's bone-crunching grip.
"Alia what has co over you." Desmond rebuked in a harsh voice.
"Uncle Des, she has been insulting Jerry and , including Aunt Pearl, all because we asked her to be our unborn child's godparent."
"Jerry please escort the guest to the ballroom," Desmond said, motioning him with his head.
"Sure."
Jerry moved away from Gwen's side to apologize to so of the guests watching the family feud. He motioned for everyone to follow him.
"The shaless tramp is still in love with Jerry." Regina's friend from earlier snickered.
"She is jealous of her sister's good fortune." Another grinned, sparing Alia a mockery glance.
"Didn't she say she was married? Where is her so-called husband?" A third woman asked.
"It's just lies. She has been caught sleeping around with different n since the divorce. She's nothing but a slut."
The rumours and gossip kept pouring in until it was just only a few mbers the Shawls family, and Stacy in the main room.
"Stacy, if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you join the other guests in the ballroom. This is a family matter and needs to be addressed privately."
"Stacy, let's go," Alia said, hissing, forcing her hands out of Desmond's hold.
"Alia, stop this." Desmond hurriedly blocked her way. "I can't have you disrupting my brother's surprise birthday party. Let's address this issue once and for all. Stacy can stay if you want it."
"There is nothing to be discussed." Alia balled her fist.
"Fine, don't stay. You can go!" Gwen shed off her disguise in the absence of her audience. "I change my mind. You are too bitter and full of hatred to be my child's godparent. I can't have soone as vicious as you around my child. I thought marrying your fictitious husband would give you a change of heart. But it's so sad that with all your money, friends and connection, you are still a jealous, lonely and bitter woman."
Of all the ridiculing and abusive words hurled at her, the part that touched Alia the most was the word, fictitious. She stopped on her track and turned to face Gwen
"Do you think I'm faking a husband?" Alia said, a devilish smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
Just then, Jerry walked back into the room. At the sa ti, Matt was seen, shalessly escorting Regina down the curved stairs, acting as though he had just gone upstairs to fetch her.
Alia grinned to herself as she could see that the whole gang was present, except for Lin Fox.
"Yes, Alia," Gwen replied. "You lied to Jerry and the day we saw you at the civil affairs bureau. You claid you were getting married to a man who put that diamond ring on your finger." She sneered at the diamond ring on Alia's finger, a glint of jealousy flashing across her eyes. "But those were all lies."
"And babe, do not forget the part about where she has been seen flaunting different n," Jerry added, satisfied with Alia's humiliation.
Stacy grinned wickedly at the thought of Blaze showing up and shutting everyone up with his ominous glares.
"I do not deny the fact that I have a lot of sophisticated male friends, so of which you are not even worthy to stand before them." Alia glared are Jerry temporarily before facing her sister. "But Gwen, you are completely wrong about . I am not married to a fictitious man like you. It might interest you to know that you have actually encountered my husband."
"What!" Gwen was taken aback.
"Alia don't tell you ca down here to cause a scene."
Regina's sweet-coated voice caused everyone to turn around and look at her. She was adorned in an elegant champagne shimring gown, just like the colour Alia was wearing. It was the senator's late wife's best colour and Regina knew Alia would rock that colour in honour of her late mother. She made her way towards Alia, eying her from her to toe, a thin smile framing her lips.
"I invited you here for your father's birthday because I know how much he loves you. Do not make this about yourself as always, wanting to steal the lilight. Find a way to accommodate every mber of this family for the few hours you'll be with us. And if your sister has been troubleso, please do not take her words to heart. Take it as the words of a troubleso pregnant woman intoxicated with different hormones. By the way, you were saying sothing about your husband."
"Yes Regina, I was before you interrupted ." Alia scoffed, as she leisurely strolled over to the L-shaped plush white cushion holding everyone's angry gaze except Stacy.
Stacy followed leisurely behind Alia as the latter sat down. She sat beside her, beaming proudly at her friend's regained composure.
"As a matter of fact, Gwen, Jerry and even you Regina have all t him, though not directly. Spying, breaking and entry, a beautiful night at the police station, and an expensive lawyer while I was at the hotel enjoying my sweet husband's pampering. Does any of these ring a bell?" Alia slowly lifted up her face to et Jerry's paled face.
"What!" Gwen's jaws dropped, eyes almost bulging out.
"And here I was thinking she has gone insane." Regina let out a feverish laughter.
"It was you?" Jerry felt a cold chill run down his spine.
"Are you by any chance referring to Mr Blaze Anderson, the man behind Gwen and Jerry's arrest?" Pearl asked, completely lost.
"Bingo!" Stacy chid excitedly.
"You are not dumb after all, Pearl." Alia hissed.
"Enough of this madness, Alia. Stop making things up." Desmond's lips trembled as he spoke.
Matt remains speechless observing his niece for any signs of pretense. But all he saw was a nerve-wracking composure and confidence.
"Alia for your sake, I hope this is all a joke," Matt growled, clenching his fist.
Just then the butler rushed in, announcing that the senator's car had just driven into the premises.
