Chapter 65: Chapter 62: Nine Waves Technique
"I found this casket many years ago in a perilous land. I was searching for a particular dicinal Herb there when, suddenly, a pillar of light appeared in the sky. It shone directly on one area of that land. I was startled, thinking an Exotic Treasure was erging, so I flew toward the light. By the ti I was halfway there, the pillar had already vanished. Left with no other choice, I searched the entire region. The only unusual thing I found was this one black casket."
"The black casket was incredibly heavy. Even with my power, I simply couldn’t lift it. What surprised
even more was that it couldn’t be stored in any Storage Space—not Storage Rings, not Storage Pouches, nothing worked. After trying every thod without success, I decided to open it... And strangely, the casket that was too heavy to move opened with ease. The item stored inside appeared before . As for what it is, why don’t you open it and see for yourself now?"
Mu Chen nodded and walked quickly to the black casket. He wrapped his arm in Primordial Power and forcefully pushed the lid open. The mont the casket opened, an intense light shot out, temporarily blinding him. Fortunately, he had already squeezed his eyes shut, so the blindness lasted only an instant before he recovered. Soon, he saw the item stored inside the casket... a giant black fan.
This giant fan gave Mu Chen an incredibly familiar feeling, as if he had just seen it sowhere. He suddenly recalled the mural on the wall before the hidden door opened. The weapon his Master had used to repel several powerful experts seed to be this very fan.
"See? It’s a fan, a giant fan. I was quite puzzled back then. In this world, the weapons Martial Artists use are all swords, spears, sabers, and halberds, or axes and daggers. I had never heard of anyone using a fan. At that ti, I happened to lack a suitable weapon, and in my youthful arrogance, I wanted to pick it up. You know what happened next. No matter how much strength I used, I couldn’t lift it out of the black casket."
Hearing this, Mu Chen suddenly wanted to try for himself. He reached out, grabbed the fan’s handle, and pulled with all his might. But no matter how hard he strained, the Giant Fan didn’t budge an inch. Mu Chen’s face turned beet red from the effort, but he still couldn’t move it. Defeated, he had no choice but to give up.
"Later," the Profound Old Ghost continued, "I wondered if it was an item that already had a master, which was why I couldn’t pick it up. To test this, I cut my finger and dripped a drop of blood onto the Giant Fan. A strange phenonon occurred. The Giant Fan actually absorbed my blood. This made
ecstatic. Absorbing my blood ant it was ownerless and had accepted . But before I could even celebrate, the Giant Fan emitted a bright blue light and expelled my blood from its body."
"What?" Mu Chen was astonished. He had heard that so weapons had to be subdued and forced to acknowledge you before you could bond with them, but he had never heard of a weapon that would absorb blood only to spit it back out.
The Profound Old Ghost’s words didn’t stop. "I was shocked at the ti as well. But when I looked closely at the drop of blood, I noticed that a part of it seed to be missing compared to when I dripped it on. I ca up with a theory: perhaps it only needed to absorb a tiny amount of blood. So, I tentatively tried to grasp the handle again."
"This ti, sothing different happened. When I touched the handle, a voice echoed in my mind. This is what the voice said: ’Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan. It has nine ribs, as tough as divine iron, unbreakable. The fan’s face is extrely thin, yet it weighs one hundred thousand catties. After bonding, its weight can be controlled. When fully mastered, a single swing can sever spaceti. Current status: Temporarily Bonded.’"
"That single ssage was branded into my mind. The part that left the deepest impression was the last phrase: ’a single swing can sever spaceti.’ Sever spaceti! I completely ignored the words ’Temporarily Bonded’ and focused on continuously reducing its weight. Eventually, I discovered its so-called weight reduction feature: it could only be reduced ten tis, by a maximum of ten thousand catties each ti."
"Naturally, I couldn’t lift sothing that weighed a hundred thousand catties, but I could easily lift ten thousand. Filled with boundless anticipation, I swung the Profound Jade Fan with all my might. I’m certain I used my full power, but the effect was rely tearing a huge rift in space. It didn’t sever spaceti at all. And as for tearing a rift in space, any Venerable can do that."
"I was utterly disappointed, thinking this Profound Jade Fan was just a prank created by so bored Great Power. After that, I rarely used it. It wasn’t until my strength reached its peak that I took out the Profound Jade Fan to test it again. Only then did it display its proper power. I truly did sever spaceti with it, but the duration was completely negligible. Later, I discovered a fact I had to accept: perhaps I was not its true master, which was why I couldn’t unleash its full power."
"This suspicion lingered until I entered the Extre Spirit Pearl. There, I saw the Extre Spirit Chaos Technique, a Cultivation Technique so incredible it was hard to accept—a technique that could grant a person infinite possibilities. It was then that I finally understood. The so-called Nine Spirits actually correspond to the nine Extre Attributes. Only when you possess all nine Extre Attributes simultaneously can you fully master the Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan and unleash its true power. And only when you have all nine Attribute Powers within you can you truly bond with it. But by then, I was already dead and could no longer practice this Cultivation Technique."
"Now you should understand why I always told you to go and take back what was originally yours, silly boy. Drip a drop of your blood on it and try. You’ll get an unexpected result."
The Profound Old Ghost’s figure floated slowly above the Scroll. The room was silent. Mu Chen now understood: the Extre Spirit Chaos Technique and the Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan had to be connected sohow.
He stepped before the black casket once more. Gazing at the Giant Fan resting quietly within, Mu Chen knew he was about to embark on a completely unknown path. This path would be perilous and arduous, but it was also filled with hope. With a flick of his wrist, a dagger appeared in his hand. He twisted it, instantly creating a small cut on his finger, from which a drop of crimson blood slowly welled up.
SPLAT!
The drop splattered onto the black Giant Fan. At first, the blood just lay there on the fan’s rib, showing no sign of seeping in. But after a mont, the dormant Giant Fan suddenly trembled and began to float. The drop of crimson blood was instantly absorbed. At the sa ti, a tiny droplet of blood was expelled from the fan.
Mu Chen knew at once that the tiny expelled droplet must be the blood his Master had dripped into it all those years ago; it had a faint, blackened appearance. The Giant Fan’s trembling didn’t stop. Suddenly, a nine-colored radiance burst forth from the cracks in the fan. Mu Chen felt the ground tremble beneath his feet as the entire Profound Ice Palace began to rumble violently.
"Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan. It has nine ribs, as tough as divine iron, unbreakable. The fan’s face is extrely thin, yet it weighs one hundred thousand catties. After bonding, its weight can be controlled. When fully mastered, a single swing can sever spaceti." An ethereal, illusory voice, seeming to travel from a distant ti and place, deeply imprinted itself upon Mu Chen’s soul.
The Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan suddenly leaped out of the black casket, stood upright in the air, and began to slowly rotate. Suddenly, a deep voice echoed in Mu Chen’s mind, ’Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan, bonding complete!’
DING!
After the crisp sound, the rotating Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan suddenly stilled. The rumbling palace also fell silent. But this quiet lasted only for a mont before the ringing sound of a longsword being unsheathed was heard.
SWISH!
Right before Mu Chen’s eyes, the Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan snapped open with lightning speed. The sound was crisp and pleasant. The fan ribs were thin at the top and grew thicker toward the bottom, reaching the width of two wrists at the handle. At the base of the handle was a hollow, circular opening of unknown purpose. As the giant fan face unfurled, the ancient markings carved upon it beca clearly visible. Each rib was inscribed with a series of white symbols, written from top to bottom in an elegant and unrestrained script. A grand and majestic aura surged forth from the fan’s surface.
Perhaps it was an illusion, but Mu Chen felt as though the power of an entire world was hidden within the Giant Fan. He quickly shook his head and continued to watch the Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan’s transformation. He saw the fan’s surface slowly shift from a vertical to a horizontal position. A violent fluctuation of Primordial Power erupted, and a wave of energy swept through the hidden room. Mu Chen was blown backward by the blast, slamming hard against the wall.
Suddenly, each rib of the Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan shot out a beam of a different color, all converging at a single point above it. A nine-colored figure suddenly stepped out from that point of convergence. The figure could only be vaguely identified as human; its face was completely indistinct. Mu Chen had just co to his senses and was stunned when he saw the ethereal, nine-colored figure.
’What is that?’
The figure completely ignored Mu Chen. It walked over to the Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan, grasped the ring on the handle, and gave a light tug. The Giant Fan traced a bizarre arc in its hand, and with a SIZZLE, a rift appeared in space. Mu Chen could tell that the figure had truly just given it a casual pull, without using any Combat Skills or Primordial Power.
The figure then waved its left hand, and Mu Chen’s vision went black. When his sight returned, he was shocked to find himself in another place. It was completely dark here, with nothing in sight. This was a Void Space!
The nine-colored figure glanced at Mu Chen and actually gave him a nod. Then, it abruptly swung the Giant Fan behind it. In an instant, Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi gathered from all around onto the massive Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan. The fan was instantly covered in a golden light, and eight large, golden words floated up from its surface into the air.
"Overlapping Waves Nine Techniques: Broken Halberd Sinks into the Sand"
The words flashed, and the nine-colored figure abruptly swung the Nine Spirits Profound Jade Fan in a huge horizontal arc, unleashing a crescent-shaped Fan Blade. The Fan Blade was several thousand ters long and rushed toward Mu Chen at a speed the naked eye couldn’t follow. For a mont, the world turned golden. Mu Chen felt as if an army of thousands was roaring and charging at him. The pupils of his tightly shut eyes contracted violently, and then he saw his own body being torn to shreds amidst the flashes of blades and swords.
His vision went black again, then cleared. When he could see his surroundings, he found he was still in the Void Space. Across from him stood the sa nine-colored figure, holding the fan in one hand with the other behind its back. His own body was still intact, as if he hadn’t been hard at all.
