Chapter 125: Chapter 122: Crisis in the Mu Mansion
Chen Wenfu shook his head. "No, this is just one of our plans. It doesn’t matter if it fails. They think we only have three Martial Spirits on our side, but they’re wrong. Haha, how could I possibly reveal our full strength?"
"Brother Chen, are you saying we have other tricks up our sleeve?" Li Zongtang asked, his face lighting up with delight.
Chen Wenfu sneered. "Honestly, with our current strength, we could wipe out both of their families. But even a cornered rabbit will bite, and it’s best to avoid unnecessary sacrifices if we can. That’s why I’ve invited an Elder from the Huayang Sect. He’s a Martial Arts Master—a single man who can uproot the Wang and Mu Families without us even lifting a finger. It’s just..."
Seeing Chen Wenfu trail off, Li Zongtang urged impatiently, "Just what? Spit it out."
"It’s just... he’s demanding fifty percent of our families’ annual inco," Chen Wenfu sighed.
Li Zongtang fell silent. Fifty percent of their family inco was no small sum. Even if they absorbed the Wang and Mu Families, their own revenue would, at best, only increase by fifty percent. By that logic, they would be annihilating the Wang and Mu Families for absolutely no gain.
Chen Wenfu seed to have expected this reaction from Li Zongtang. He gave a wicked smile and said, "Don’t worry, that’s just a contingency plan. If possible, let’s do it ourselves. It’s just sacrificing a few family mbers, after all. Compared to that, I’m more concerned about that fifty percent."
Li Zongtang replied without a second thought. "You’re right. Let’s do it that way. It’s far better to take everything for ourselves than to hand fifty percent of the inco over to an outsider."
Their thoughts aligned. Having learned their lesson, they each found a spot far away from the other and re-entered the Illusion Realm...
anwhile, Mufeng had arrived beneath the longsword encased in the red sphere. Now that he was closer, he could finally see the sword’s complete appearance.
"Broken Water!"
That was the na of the sword, engraved on the hilt. The crimson Sword Hilt looked ancient, but after being tempered by the ages, the longsword was still as good as new. Mufeng leaped up and grabbed the longsword.
’So light!’
Mufeng took it down, holding it with both hands. From a distance, he’d thought it was just a hilt, but up close, he discovered it did have a blade. The Sword Blade was just so thin it was transparent. Gripping it, Mufeng swung it twice and was shocked to find its sharpness was simply outrageous—the expression ’sharp enough to cut a falling hair’ didn’t do it justice. Furthermore, this was a weapon made exclusively for a Wind Attribute Martial Artist. In battle, he could use it to easily take an enemy’s head before they even knew what was happening.
Inside the Independent Space, Mu Chen stared intently at the golden ball of light in the air. Three days had passed. For three whole days, the light enveloping the Snow Qilin had remained completely still. The good news, however, was that during this ti, Mu Chen hadn’t just read through all the knowledge within the Golden Dragon Scripture; by a stroke of luck, he had also broken through from the peak of a Sixth-Ring Martial Master to the realm of a Seventh-Ring Martial Master. This was certainly a reason to celebrate.
However, just then, the unchanging golden ball of light suddenly began to distort violently. Countless streams of Golden Primordial Qi leaked out from it. Mu Chen’s nerves instantly tensed; in that mont, he sensed danger.
’Could sothing have gone wrong with Xiaobai’s advancent?’
With a single thought, Mu Chen swiftly condensed his Spiritual Power into a fine thread that pierced the golden ball of light with a soft *POP*, entering its core. This stunned Mu Chen. Over the past three days, he had repeatedly tried to use Spiritual Detection, but no matter how hard he pushed, his Spiritual Power could never penetrate the golden light. Today, however, it had slipped through with ease. But his success was short-lived. Before he could even get a clear look inside, streams of Golden Primordial Qi shot along the thread of his Spiritual Power and surged into his body.
This violent change caught Mu Chen off guard. Pain spread through his body like a virus. At first, it was just his chest that hurt, but then his entire body began to convulse.
The golden ball of light in the air began to separate a portion of its Primordial Qi and send it surging into Mu Chen’s body. Despite the agony, Mu Chen made no sound. He managed to turn onto his side and swiftly activated the Extre Spirit Chaos Technique. He soon brought the Golden Primordial Qi that had spread throughout his body under control, slowly guiding it into his Dantian.
Only when the Golden Primordial Qi was finally brought to order did Mu Chen’s pain begin to subside. He also finally understood why the golden ball of light had beco unstable: there was simply too much energy for the Snow Qilin to absorb. This realization sparked a question in his mind. ’What exactly is that Golden Bean? How can it contain such imnse power?’
The absorption continued. Because the Golden Primordial Qi was entering Mu Chen’s body along the path of his Spiritual Power, both his Spiritual Power and his Elental Realm began to rise in sync. Although the increase was slow, it was still perceptible.
A day passed quietly. And just then, Mu Chen’s body and the golden ball of light in the air simultaneously erupted with a brilliant radiance. Then, two powerful waves of Primordial Power bood, forming a storm of Primordial Power that swept away all the surrounding sand and dust.
SKREEE!
Following the long cry, the golden ball of light surrounding the Snow Qilin’s body vanished completely. In its place was a Fur Ball Little Beast, its entire body shining with a bright light. Under this brilliant radiance, the Fur Ball Little Beast suddenly stretched and elongated as if it were liquid. Imdiately after, the small, four-legged form of a young Snow Qilin appeared in the air.
ROAR!
It was a roar that seed to echo from ancient tis. The light in the air faded, revealing a three-ter-long, snow-white Magical Beast. It landed with a BOOM, shattering the ground with a single step and sending rock shards flying. The Magical Beast was pure white, resembling a ferocious lion. Its long, flowing white fur swayed in the wind. It had no long whiskers, but its expression was incredibly domineering. Its body was clearly much stronger, and a ring of fluorescent light seed to circle its sharp, golden horn. Though it still looked young, it already possessed a hint of a King’s majesty.
Mu Chen also stabilized his aura. He was now an Eighth-Ring Martial Master. While he hadn’t reached the peak, he wasn’t far off. Just a sliver of Primordial Qi from the Golden Bean had been enough to advance him from a Seventh-Ring Martial Master to an Eighth-Ring one. ’I can’t even imagine what would happen if I absorbed it all.’
He slowly raised his head, but when he saw the unfamiliar Magical Beast in front of him, he was stunned. He glanced at the sky; the golden ball of light was long gone. Mu Chen cried out in surprise, "Xiaobai?"
HRRMPH!
A soft roar answered him, its golden pupils filled with deep affection. Mu Chen could clearly sense that Xiaobai had reached the realm of a Third-level Magical Beast. To reach that level in a single advancent was enough to leave Mu Chen both shocked and overjoyed. ’So much has happened today,’ he thought, ’it feels like a dream.’
However, as Mu Chen prepared to leave the fractured Independent Space with Xiaobai, a problem troubled him. Xiaobai’s appearance was too conspicuous. It would be impossible to keep a low profile with such a Magical Beast in tow. This dilemma made Mu Chen pause. Xiaobai turned its head to look at him, and through their Mind Communication, it quickly understood what Mu Chen was thinking.
*Daddy, so that’s what you were worried about. I can transform back to my original form.*
Xiaobai’s ethereal voice echoed in Mu Chen’s mind. It was more mature than before, yet still held a hint of its forr childishness. Mu Chen was overjoyed. "You can transform back? That’s great! Otherwise, I’d have no idea how to bring you along with ."
Xiaobai gave a human-like smile. It closed its golden eyes, and its body radiated a brilliant light. When the light faded, the form of the Fur Ball Little Beast once again appeared before Mu Chen. *Daddy, this should be fine, right?*
It was the sa familiar appearance, the sa familiar voice. As Xiaobai’s body changed, its voice also reverted to its childish tone. Mu Chen nodded with a smile. "This is much better."
With that, Mu Chen scooped Xiaobai into his arms. With a few flashes, he arrived inside Venerable Wan Gu’s cave. With a thought, the Golden Dragon Scripture shot a beam of golden light from between Mu Chen’s eyebrows, striking a wall in the cave. Imdiately, the space twisted. As if reflected by a mirror, the golden beam shot back, enveloping Mu Chen and Xiaobai. The sa pulling force appeared again, and in a flash, Mu Chen’s body vanished from the Independent Space.
After he vanished, the Independent Space suddenly began to tremble violently. Abruptly, a huge black vortex appeared at the edge of the Independent Space. Like an ancient Giant Beast, the vortex opened its great maw and swallowed the entire broken Independent Space in one gulp. From then on, this space, along with the remains of Venerable Wan Gu, vanished completely, reduced to nothingness...
Inside the Cave of Ten Thousand Bones, a golden light flashed outside a certain wall, and a white figure appeared in the cave. Four days had passed, and the struggle in the Outer Realm had not yet ended. As soon as Mu Chen appeared, a battle scene unfolded before him. On one side was the Head of the Wang Family, Wang Mo, and on the other was an Elder from the Li Family. However, by the ti he got a clear look, the battle was already over. Wang Mo’s strength had reached Two-Ring Martial Spirit, while his opponent was only a Five-Ring Grand Martial Master. The outco was a foregone conclusion.
He glanced around. Besides Mufeng, only Li Zongtang, Chen Wenfu, Mu Gu Tian, Mu Yeqiu, Mu Zheng, Wang Mo, and two Martial Spirit Elders from the Wang Family had advanced a dozen or so ters. Everyone else was still wandering in place, apparently completely entranced by the Illusion Realm. Shaking his head, Mu Chen looked at the twenty-so shimring, multicolored spheres that remained. He moved in a blur, grabbing an item every few steps. Eight hours later, just as he placed the final item into his Space Ring, the Illusion Realm throughout the Cave of Ten Thousand Bones suddenly vanished. Everyone in the cave froze for a mont, then looked around in a daze. When they saw how close they all were to each other, they realized they had been deceived by the Illusion.
Wang Mo looked at the slain mber of the Li Family in front of him, utterly astonished. "What’s going on?"
The mbers of the various families, who had been fighting each other monts before, ca to their senses and stopped. All of them looked to their respective Elders with faces full of questions. Mu Gu Tian’s brow furrowed. He glanced at a fallen disciple of the Chen Family and said, "It seems we were all deceived by the Illusion Realm. The monsters in the Illusion were actually ourselves."
