Pei Yu saw that she didn’t dodge and loosely encircled her slender wrist, "Qin Fang said he might be your first love."

Shen Zhiyi was surprised. It was one thing for Qin Xiaoran to spout nonsense, but for even Qin Fang to make wild guesses?

"It’s not," she pursed her lips, "I have never liked anyone."

She didn’t have the energy to think about such things.

Pei Yu looked at her for a while, slightly curling his lips upward, "I hadn’t either before."

Now, well...

With people seated in front, Shen Zhiyi pretended not to understand, and turned her head back to look out the window. However, her wrist remained circled by his grasp, and she didn’t pull away.

"I won’t be going to school for the next few days," Pei Yu caressed her delicate wrist, "I have so matters to handle. If you need to find , just call, or you can find Qin Fang."

Shen Zhiyi thought to herself that she had no reason to seek him out, but then she heard him say, "I will also call you, don’t reject."

She didn’t speak, and then her wrist was squeezed, like a silent urging, Pei Yu wouldn’t rest until he got an answer.

Qin Xiaoran suddenly looked over from the front row. Startled, Shen Zhiyi instinctively withdrew her hand, as if racked with guilt like a thief.

Fearing Pei Yu would question her further, she vaguely "hmm’d" in acknowledgent.

Pei Yu didn’t stay in the car for too long, and Qin Fang also found an excuse to leave, leaving Qin Xiaoran and Shen Zhiyi alone.

"Brother Pei Yu was acting strange today," Qin Xiaoran hooked Shen Zhiyi’s arm, showing her so clothes she wanted to buy, "It seed like he specifically waited to get on my family’s car because of you. Are you two very close?"

She asked casually, not really believing in that possibility herself. Shen Zhiyi’s face turned slightly red and she shook her head subtly.

"I thought so, you’ve only known each other for so long," she said with a giggle, "I’m really making wild guesses today."

The topic quickly changed, but Shen Zhiyi was still a bit dazed.

She did not know Pei Yu for long, but strangely, she didn’t find their interactions unfamiliar.

That night, Shen Zhiyi received a call in her sleep.

Groggy, she thought it was morning when she answered, but when she checked the ti, it was still the middle of the night.

Too sleepy, her voice naturally carried a hint of complaint.

"Why are you calling at this ti?"

Her voice was soft and raspy, different from usual, it sounded very much like whining. Pei Yu stood on the gangway, his clothes billowing in the wind. He was turned away from everybody else, sneaking in the call during a busy mont.

"I only have free ti now," he lowered his voice, not wanting to upset her, "I wanted to hear your voice."

Shen Zhiyi beca slightly more alert, sat up in bed, puzzled by why Pei Yu, a high school student, was always flying around, too busy to be seen. However, from the behavior of Qin Fang and others, his being busy seed much better than being neglected.

She fiddled with the hem of her nightdress, "I don’t know what to say."

Pei Yu let out a soft chuckle, his laughter fleeting as he saw Father Pei look his way. Annoyance flashed in his eyes as he turned away to block the prying eyes of others.

His voice was deep, "I’ve had so little ti to see you and I don’t really know how to pursue soone. Do you think I still have a chance?"

Shen Zhiyi was stunned, "How can you..."

How could he ask her so directly.

Pei Yu’s brows furrowed slightly, "I’m afraid you think I’m less than others."

He was indeed not a qualified suitor; it would be understandable if Shen Zhiyi left him for soone else.

Shen Zhiyi was silent for a few seconds as she stared at the call interface, baffled—Pei Yu, soone like him fearing and worrying in love. He was so dazzling, unmatched by anyone, yet now concerned about not asuring up in her heart.

She spoke slowly, "But there’s no one else, Pei Yu. You’re the only one."

He was the only one who said he liked her, who wanted to pursue her.

"There will be others," Pei Yu’s voice, carried by the wind, sounded distant and then near, "Would you choose soone else?"

His attitude was not that of a traditional suitor, but Shen Zhiyi didn’t notice anything amiss, seriously considering his question.

It was difficult for her to compare Pei Yu with others.

Upon realizing this, Shen Zhiyi’s cheeks tended to redden. Holding the phone, she hesitated for a mont, then whispered her answer in a barely audible voice.

"I wouldn’t."

She couldn’t imagine soone better than Pei Yu.

Pei Yu looked down with a faint smile, assuring her before Father Pei’s secretary approached, "Wait for to co back."

The call ended, and the secretary ca up to him, "It’s ti to go."

In an instant, any trace of a smile vanished from the boy’s face, leaving his expression cold and indifferent.
