Shen Zhiyi was the first to react, striding two steps towards Pei Yu and smoothly freeing herself from Huo Heng’s grasp. She looked up at the aloof young man in front of her with a puzzled expression, "Did you wait for ?"

Pei Yu’s eyes drooped, his expression indifferent, his youthful, dark brows and eyes outlined like ink strokes, took on a cold hue as if covered in a layer of frost, making him difficult to scrutinize closely. Instead of answering, he asked in a lowered tone, "Who is he?"

Huo Heng also called out from behind, "Shen Zhiyi."

Caught between the two young n, Shen Zhiyi felt a headache coming on. She did not want to involve outsiders in her affairs, especially not Pei Yu.

"He’s a friend," she managed to explain, turning her head to say to Huo Heng, "I’m going ho, don’t co looking for again."

Huo Heng stood a few steps away, not rashly approaching. Although he was speaking to Shen Zhiyi, his eyes were fixed on Pei Yu. They were clearly about the sa age, yet the young man stood with cold, alluring red lips, extraordinarily handso. Whether in dress or deanor, he exuded the polished grace of the wealthy, a dignity starkly different from his own.

Seeing him now beside Shen Zhiyi forced Huo Heng to admit that he and Shen Zhiyi were now worlds apart.

"Zhiyi," his lips quivered, ashad to speak under the cold gaze of the young man, "besides you, I don’t know whom else to turn to..."

At that mont, Pei Yu spoke, wearily lifting his hand and lightly touching the strands of hair at Shen Zhiyi’s collarbone, "I don’t want to wait anymore, are you leaving or not?"

His eyes, under long eyelashes, looked at her indifferently, clearly aning more than just a casual question.

Shen Zhiyi’s heart raced slightly, "Why did you wait for ?"

It should have been Qin Xiaoran who was waiting for her, he lived so far from her route.

Pei Yu, hands in his pockets and much taller, looked down at her with half-hidden intent in his gaze, "Are you sure you want to hear the reason? I told you yesterday—I—"

"I know," Shen Zhiyi’s cheeks heated up, quickly stopping him from finishing his sentence, tugging at his clothes, "Let’s go."

She walked a few steps, then turned back to look at Huo Heng, still sowhat worried. After a thought, she said, "If you still haven’t changed your mind, you can call my foster mother’s phone, that would be much more effective than looking for ."

Huo Heng remained silent and did not follow her again.

Shen Zhiyi walked ahead, leaving the Qin siblings in total confusion.

Too many questions followed, and Qin Xiaoran asked the one he was most curious about, "Zhiyi, is that boy your boyfriend?"

He was quite dark and thin but had good features; a bit of grooming, and he could be considered handso. Considering that Shen Zhiyi’s hotown was not a big city, such a boy was already very rare and well-matched with her.

Shen Zhiyi got into the car, shocked by the question. It was true she and Huo Heng grew up together, but there was not a hint of romantic feelings between them, and as they grew older, their relationship wasn’t as close as it had been in their childhood.

She was about to dispel Qin Xiaoran’s random guess when she noticed the others were also looking at her, seemingly believing Qin Xiaoran’s speculation.

"Of course not," Shen Zhiyi reluctantly explained, "just a friend, he had sothing to ask ."

Qin Xiaoran continued to speculate wildly, "What did he want? Did he realize he liked you only after you left and ca specially to confess?"

"..." Shen Zhiyi sighed, "No, it’s sothing else, he doesn’t like ."

She sat in the backseat, beside Pei Yu, who casually stretched out his long legs, his knees pressing against her spread skirt. After she explained several tis, he finally looked away.

From the front seat, Qin Fang kept wanting to turn back, "Brother Pei, are you coming to my house?"

Everyone was already in the car, which left little room for doubt, but Pei Yu still had matters to attend to today.

Pei Yu nad a place, "Drop there, I’m going back to Huating."

Qin Fang acknowledged, and as the vehicle began moving, he and Qin Xiaoran noisily chatted about other matters.

Backseat remained quiet, Shen Zhiyi stared out the window at the cityscape, lost in thought for a while. Suddenly, she felt her skirt being tugged.

She turned her head and saw Pei Yu, with his long eyelashes lowered, absent-mindedly smoothing her skirt. After a while, he touched her wrist with his fingertips.

Shen Zhiyi didn’t move, asking softly, "What are you doing?"

The young man then looked up at her, slowly blinking, "Can’t I touch?"

Before she could respond, he added in a slightly lower tone, "He can touch."

Shen Zhiyi: "..."

She almost laughed, "I didn’t let him touch. Didn’t I pull my hand away?"

Besides, what was there to compare?
