Chapter 535: Chapter 533: The Summoners

anwhile.

The night continued.

The moon hung in the sky, and below it a vast lake lay quiet, shimring under its glow like a mirror.

By the lakeside, a few dark specks moved swiftly, and upon a closer look, one could see they were people on horseback—three horses, three riders, one of them a middle-aged man, and the other two youths, a male and a female—they had co from the south and had been traveling in the north for a long ti now.

Nancy, riding furthest from the lake, bore a refined face that looked proud and indifferent in the pale moonlight. Already a Third-level Wizard Apprentice, her aura was steady and full, indicating she was at her peak. This ant that with enough accumulation, she could break through to Wizard status at any mont.

Gro, who was riding nearest to the lake, a prince from the Jade Kingdom of Smans Island, no longer displayed any of his forr timidity. His expression had grown resolute. His wizard level had also reached that of a Third Level Wizard Apprentice, which was quite alarming considering that just over half a year ago, he was rely a Level One Wizard Apprentice, and his talent was nowhere near Nancy’s.

But approaching him, one could sense that his aura was not stable, clearly having relied on so external force, like potions or special spells, to achieve all this. Such actions obviously ca with a price, but it seed he was willing to bear it.

The man leading the way, riding between Nancy and Gro, was a middle-aged man dressed entirely in white—white boots, white pants, white shirt, white hat, white gloves, with not a hint of color to be found on him, none other than Macbeth.

Macbeth’s face, which had previously held so color, was now as starkly white as his clothing, a frightening sight. The aura that faintly emanated from him was far superior to Gro and Nancy’s, even surpassing that of an ordinary wizard and beyond what he had achieved before.

This was different from what Princess Rose of the Black Holy Mountain Kingdom had said. According to Rose, after Macbeth suffered severe injuries, he had gone to the new campus of the White Stone Tower to recuperate and had his cultivation completely destroyed, becoming no different than an ordinary person.

Now Macbeth had used so thods considered taboo to regain and even surpass his previous strength. The cost of this was greater than what Gro had to bear, with his pale complexion being one indicator. However, Macbeth’s expression remained calm, showing little emotional fluctuation.

“Clip-clop, clip-clop…”

The sounds of horse hooves resonated as the three riders pressed on, and after a mont, Macbeth pulled on the reins to stop, with Gro and Nancy halting alongside, turning their attention to him.

Macbeth said nothing at first, only retrieving a parchnt scroll from his cloak and unfurling it under the moonlight to inspect the drawn map.

After a long glance, he rolled it up again, surveyed his surroundings, and spoke, “The place we’re at now should be Taklamakan Lake.”

“Taklamakan Lake? What sort of odd na is that?” asked Gro.

“It’s from a very old native language, aning ‘Sea of Death,'” Macbeth replied.

“This place doesn’t look anything like a ‘Sea of Death,'” Gro said dubiously, eyeing the lake where fish occasionally leapt out of the water and the shores were teeming with various forms of life, an image of thriving vitality.

Nancy, on the other hand, curled her lip, “As I said, it’s a very ancient language. Of course, it describes how it was a long ti ago. If you compare it with the present state, wouldn’t it be strange if it did match?”

Gro: “…” Stumped and without a coback.

“Ahem, alright,” Macbeth coughed lightly and waved his hand, “Arguing over a na is pointless, let’s continue our journey. Now that we’ve confird this is Taklamakan Lake, according to the map, our next destination isn’t far.”

“Teacher Macbeth, there’s sothing I don’t understand,” Gro spoke up, “Why are we going through all this trouble to seek out one Wizard Organization after another? Is it to rebuild the White Stone Tower? We could completely build it on our own.”

“You haven’t exactly started building it yourself, have you?” Nancy countered.

Gro: “…” Once again, left speechless.

Macbeth spoke up at this mont, gazing into the distance with a deep look in his eyes, speaking slowly, “We’re not seeking these wizard organizations to help us rebuild the White Stone Tower. They’d be too happy about the tower’s destruction to lift a finger to help.

“But, from what we’ve gathered, the destruction of White Stone Tower was likely not an accident but an inevitability, a beginning. Although it’s only speculation, the tragedy of White Stone Tower alone is enough. We must find a way to prevent even more terrifying events from happening.”

“More terrifying events? What?” Gro and Nancy asked simultaneously.

Macbeth opened his mouth but said nothing, then after a mont’s silence, he said, “You’ll know when the ti cos. Now, let’s set out.”

“Eh.”

“Yes.”

“Clip-clop, clip-clop…”

Three horses and three riders quickly rode off…

Days later in Eden.

In the chanical Processing Sector, inside the research lab, Richard had settled down after a bout of busyness.

There in the room, Richard sat before the workbench, upon which were placed over twenty finger-sized tallic bullets.

Each bullet was lead-gray in color, with magic runes etched onto their surface. These were the products of Richard’s efforts, made from an alloy called 237, combined with tal molybdenum and a few other materials, currently codenad 315 alloy.

Compared to its predecessor, 237 alloy, the new 315 alloy had many optimized features. For example, its machinability was improved, allowing it to be easily ford into various shapes and smaller sizes.

Additionally, the stability and user-friendliness of 315 alloy were enhanced.

Previously, 237 alloy required the introduction of free energy elents to activate it. It would then absorb gases to achieve a stable state. Afterward, once more free energy elents were introduced, the stable state would be disrupted as it entered a high energy state, and, following a delay, it would explode violently, resulting in powerful destructive force.

In this way, if it was to be used in combat, one would have to inject free energy elents temporarily before attack. Putting aside convenience, it was very easy for enemies to detect. Furthermore, the alloy required a certain amount of ti to unleash its power, which ant that if the enemy was alert, they could completely avoid getting hurt.

Therefore, previous scarce combat successes depended on the elent of surprise.

There’s nothing wrong with surprise attacks, but they clearly only work against a single target, not multiple ones, since everyone would be vigilant.

The 315 alloy, however, offered an optimization. It could maintain a degree of stability when turned into a high energy state through secondary introduction of free energy elents, and would only explode under the conditions of a harsh impact or being burned at high temperatures.

Dealing with enemies beca much simpler then, not relying solely on surprise attacks, and allowing direct confrontation. As long as one could throw the high energy state 315 alloy and hit the target during battle, enemies would realize its potency.

In the research lab, Richard looked at the 315 alloy bullets on the workbench, his eyes shining. After all, this was the result of his long-ti efforts. Although there was still room for improvent in this magic material, it already t his expectations and was considered a halfway success.

However—

Suddenly, Richard seed to think of sothing, his eyebrows lifting, as he packed up the 315 alloy bullets and turned to walk out the door.
