"Puff puff!"

"Kill!"

"Kill them!"

"Help!"

"Everyone will die!"

"Boom!"

The battle was growing more chaotic and more brutal.

In the end, almost everyone lost their sanity, fighting purely on instinct—not even human instinct, but animal instinct.

Doing everything possible to survive.

So it went, who knows how long it lasted, until the last abnormal hyena had its head severed by the Wind Blade, and the battlefield fell silent.

Philip staggered and looked around, discovering that the abnormal creatures in his sight had vanished, or rather were all dead. The only ones still standing were a few vehicle crew mbers and the Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group.

Is this victory?

It is victory!

Philip couldn’t help but feel a surge of joy, seeing Frank clutch his stomach as he walked over from the right, shouting, "We won!"

Frank’s expression showed little emotion, only glancing at him weakly and said, "Everyone will die." Then his legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

Philip was montarily stunned, then quickly surprised, running over to try to lift Frank. He then noticed a deep wound on Frank’s stomach, likely caused by an abnormal creature during the battle, with fresh blood continuously seeping out.

"Frank, you’re... you’re hurt!"

"Am I hurt?" Frank heard the words, but instead showed a faint smile and surprisingly spoke normally, "It’s nothing, since everyone will die anyway, I’m just dying a little earlier."

As he said this, Frank slowly closed his eyes, clearly feeling that as blood seeped from the wound, strength was rapidly leaving his body, his consciousness gradually sinking into darkness.

Finally, it’s over... Frank’s final thought was so, feeling sowhat relieved inside... he had realized he was indeed a man of calamity, the source of calamity was the words he said. No matter what he said, the opposite would occur soon after; sotis even just the thought would lead to disaster.

To avoid this, he could only speak the opposite words, actively call for calamity to arrive. Only then might things take a turn for the better, allowing for a slim chance in a desperate situation.

That’s why he always said "Everyone will die," because deep down he hoped not to see this happen again as it did before.

Now, what he truly wanted had happened; "everyone will die" did not occur—the one who died was him, and others survived.

This was not his most desired result, but... at least not the worst one... so let it be... after all. He had caused too many deaths on his journey, now saving so many, it could count as compensation.

Now, he could leave in peace.

Eventually, it ended.

Frank felt his last consciousness begin to disperse in his mind, then followed by a fall into the endless darkness...

He died...

...

No, he didn’t die!

"Boom!"

At the next mont, a burst of fiery light suddenly exploded in Frank’s mind, the intense impact force jolting him awake, followed by spicy liquid surging from his mouth into his throat, forcing him into a fit of severe coughing.

"Cough cough cough!"

Frank tearfully opened his eyes, seeing a square-faced officer pouring dicine into his mouth, with Philip looking at him worriedly nearby.

The square-faced officer admonished Philip while pouring the dicine, "It’s just fainting from blood loss, what’s the big deal? There are plenty more seriously wounded than him. A bit of dicine and rest will be fine, yet you dragged here, such a waste of ti."

"Alright, now he’s awake, you keep pouring for him. I have other wounded waiting, no ti to waste here." The officer said, handing the dicine in the glass tube to Philip and quickly leaving.

Philip took the dicine, carefully continuing to pour it into Frank’s mouth, breathing a sigh of relief and said to Frank, "You’re finally awake, I thought you were dead just now."

I thought I was dead too... Frank thought silently, pondering what was truly happening as he struggled to swallow the dicine.

What happened? Wasn’t his death supposed to save everyone else? Yet he was saved by others, how does this count?

Does his calamity still work now?

Or was it all just his imagination, and he really didn’t have any calamity, just happened to encounter a series of unfortunate events, almost dying and surviving purely by coincidence.

Is it?

Isn’t it?

Frank was filled with doubt, sowhat lost as he looked around, hoping to find so clue, but only saw many wounded.

The previous square-faced officer was leading many people tending to the injured, treating them.

After busying for a while, stabilizing all the injured, the square-faced officer walked over to an empty spot.

There stood Goring, the captain of the Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group, squinting as he looked towards the wilderness beyond the defense line, his thoughts unknown.

The square-faced officer reported the casualty statistics near Goring, and said softly at the end, "Captain, maybe our casualties are terribly severe this ti, but... in this misfortune, at least we won."

"Won?" Goring’s facial muscles twitched as if smiling, "The Reinforcent Group of two thousand, fought until now, just over three hundred remain, including half of them wounded, the Magic Wizards including only four, not to ntion other material losses, can this be called winning? Who won? At least the Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group didn’t win... it’s dead, completely dead..."

"We still have three hundred people, including you, captain, it can be rebuilt." said the square-faced officer.

"Rebuild?" Goring took a deep breath and then shook his head with a bitter smile, "I’m afraid there’s no chance for that."

"But..." The square-faced officer wanted to persuade, but Goring raised his hand first.

Pointing to the wilderness, Goring said, "Look closely, see what that is?!"

"What?" The square-faced officer looked, sowhat puzzled, then blinked hard, his face suddenly turning pale, the fla of hope burning deep in his eyes seed to be doused with icy water, extinguished in an instant.

In the distance of the wilderness, at the horizon, the supposedly eradicated abnormal creatures were sprouting like mushrooms from damp caves once more.

A new horde of abnormal creatures was gathering and preparing to attack, and it seed to be larger than all the previous attacking abnormal creatures combined.

Thirty thousand? Fifty thousand? Or maybe a hundred thousand?

The tightly packed crowd of abnormal creatures was truly impossible to count, with abnormal shell elephants, giant strange worms, and other powerful abnormal creatures appearing altogether, along with even more terrifying-looking individuals.

The individual was roughly ten ters tall, resembling a gorilla, with thick limbs and glowing red eyes, even from afar, it made one’s heart tremble.
