Chapter 1248: Chapter 1246: Balta

“It’s not surprising. When you… well… I… or rather we, inexplicably arrived in this world, didn’t we subconsciously think that anything could happen?” Richard said, looking at the childlike version of himself.

“That’s true.” The childlike version of him nodded and muttered to himself, “If logic starts to unravel, in a sense, it’s no different from a madman, or maybe we have already accepted agnosticism. What can’t we accept? But… speaking of which, haven’t we all not given up struggling, trying hard to figure out what this world is all about.”

After a pause, the childlike version of him looked over seriously and asked, “I’m a bit curious now, how far have you co?”

“If the truth of the world is a mountain range, I should be considered to have climbed to the top of one mountain. There are still many, many mountains ahead, and I am sure that if I keep going, I will reach the end one day. But I’m not sure when it is or what it is.” Richard said.

“Sounds like it’s still very difficult.” The childlike version of him shrugged, “But no matter how hard it is, there’s always hope, isn’t there? That’s better than staying at the foot of the mountain, living a deceiving life, isn’t it?”

“Indeed.”

“Then I wish you success.” The childlike version of him smiled.

“Wish success.” Richard said, preparing to leave the house.

“Oh!” The childlike version of him suddenly called out, as if suddenly rembering sothing, pointed outside, and asked, “You’re planning to leave here and head towards that Black Tower, right? To see what’s waiting for you at the farthest place, right?”

Richard nodded.

“Alright then, I’m curious too about what’s there, so I wish you good luck.”

“Thank you.” Richard turned around. Mid-turn, he paused, speaking over his shoulder to the childlike version of him, “By the way, if you can, in this world of past mories, if you et Hui Zi, don’t teach her Japanese.”

“Then what do you want to teach her?” The childlike version of him asked, “French? Au revoir?”①

“Whatever.” Richard waved his hand as he walked out, “I don’t mind Italian… addio…”②

“Bang!”

The door of the third house closed, and Richard returned to the snowy plain.

Looking into the distance, the Black Tower was closer, close enough to see so details.

At that mont, he had realized that the Black Tower’s height might be terrifying. The tower might be a miraculous structure that could be seen from such a great distance.

And between him and the Black Tower, many white houses appeared, with white houses on the left and right, each white house representing a mory anchor point of his.

This ti, he stepped forward without hesitation, walking past the nearest house without stopping, striding past it and continuing forward.

One house, then another, more and more houses left behind, and he kept moving forward, wanting to find the last one representing his earliest mory.

“Swoosh, swoosh…”

One hour, two hours, three hours…

He walked for a full three hours and stopped in front of a slightly different house.

This house was enormous, like a stadium, and the mont he saw it, he intuitively understood: this was the goal he sought, the mory before all other mories, before the birth of his current body.

He placed his hand on the door, with countless guesses flashing through his mind about what he would see after pushing the door open.

Was it a city full of skyscrapers? A bustling highway? A smoke-billowing factory? Or a roadside food stall? A desk missing a corner? A broken computer with a blue screen?

Countless thoughts welled up and faded away in his mind, and his hand slowly applied force, making a creaking sound as he pushed the door open and walked in, only to be stunned.

The result was that there was nothing inside the door.

Yes, nothing at all.

The space inside the door was astonishingly large, even larger than it appeared from the outside, as if it could hold an entire world, yet it contained nothing, just a vast expanse of white.

The floor was white, the walls were white, the ceiling was white, every surface, every line was white.

This was a white world, much like the snowy plain he walked through outside.

Upon entering the room and seeing this scene, he visibly paused, his mouth opened as if to say sothing, but nothing ca out in the end.

He stood there contemplating deeply: was it that the Illusion couldn’t read his pre-birth mories? Or was it that those mories…

He thought and pondered in the house for a long ti but couldn’t find the answers he wanted.

Finally, taking a deep breath, he turned and walked out the door.

“Bang!”

He closed the door, returned to the snowy plain, and turned around, surprisingly seeing a towering black tower, now within arm’s reach.

Squinting his eyes, he reached out to touch it.

Suddenly, the snow on the snowy plain surged up violently, rushing towards him, transforming into a white light that engulfed him.

The whole world began to tremble and shatter, and his vision gradually returned to normal.

Richard opened his eyes to find himself standing in front of the opened blue door within the ruins.

Behind him, Moli and the others stood there, motionless, with expressions of confusion, still looking as if they were in the Illusion.

So, we were standing outside the door the whole ti… Richard blinked… So, we never entered inside.

What exactly was inside the door?

He glanced in and saw a staggering space, almost a thousand ters in diater and nearly a hundred ters high, like a massively magnified stadium.

Within this super-sized arena, there were over a hundred stone pedestals more than a ter high, as if they were bases for placing sothing, but almost all of them were empty, except for one pedestal at the front, which held sothing.

After a glance, he recognized it as the Black Tower he saw in the Illusion.

The tower in reality and the tower in the Illusion were identical in shape, but vastly different in size, being only about ten centiters tall. It appeared just like the one he saw upon first entering the Illusion on the snowy plain, in stark contrast to the towering state seen at the end.

What on earth is this…

Richard squinted as he stepped inside, and the mont he set foot on the ground within the gate, he heard a voice in his ear.

“Una compagnia aerea orientale emise un grande divano…”

Hmm?

The sound continued for a while, then stopped, followed by another even stranger voice.

“ыпустилабольшойдиван…”

Richard blinked, totally unable to understand it.

After waiting a few more seconds, finally, the common language popular on the mainland sounded, in a voice resembling chanical synthesis:

“Visitor detected, unable to confirm identity, passing the most basic validation, granted Level 10 access, able to access but only access Balta’s first level.”

Upon hearing this, Richard’s eyebrows raised sharply.
