Capítulo 1097: Chapter 1095: Ten-Second Countdown

Pompeii Town, the square.

“Supervisor Long i’er went to my residence?” Richard was sowhat moved after hearing that, looking towards Cheka, speaking for the first ti.

Cheka chuckled slightly, “What, are you scared, feeling guilty?”

“Indeed, there is your incriminating evidence there.” Cheka’s expression turned serious, “Didn’t you always say there was no direct evidence to prove you’re a spy? Just wait until Supervisor Long i’er returns with the evidence and confronts you, let’s see how you explain.”

“Actually, I’m not worried about the supervisor finding anything.” Richard replied calmly, “I was thinking, if I really t the supervisor here, I must find a way to invite them to my residence to help fetch sothing I forgot. Now without asking, the supervisor went there personally, which is quite convenient.”

“Hmph.” Cheka snorted disdainfully, “Stubborn! Once Supervisor Long i’er returns, let’s see if you can still keep up this act. Regardless, in my eyes, your fate is sealed, akin to a dead man.

And before you truly die, before you’re personally dealt with by the returning Supervisor Long i’er, do you have anything you want to say? Perhaps, if you abandon all conditions and beg for rcy, sincerely worshiping the True God, you might have a slim chance of surviving.”

“Before dying, anything I want to say?” Richard raised an eyebrow, looked up to the sky, watching the slowly rising eastern sun and the drifting white clouds, after a few seconds, he said with so feeling, “If there’s anything I truly want to say, perhaps it’s… the weather is nice today.”

Cheka’s eyes widened, feeling that Richard’s attitude was overly frivolous, showing no awareness of a man about to die. Feeling sowhat annoyed inside, he slowly clenched a hand, energy surging in his palm, ready to strike.

But after a while, not knowing what ca to mind, the energy in his hand dissipated, and he didn’t make a move.

At this point, Richard, still looking at the sky, continued, “The wind is calm, the sun is bright, clear skies, truly good weather…”

He then withdrew his gaze, looking at Cheka, explaining seriously, “Perfect weather for killing.”

“Hmm?” Cheka didn’t quite catch on.

“Boom!”

The next mont, an explosion erupted, fierce flas burst out on the square, a fire column shot up to the sky, transforming into a furious fire python over ten ters long, directly lunging towards Cheka.

Cheka, sowhat flustered, retreated swiftly, raising an orange energy shield to barely block the attack. His face bore a look of incredulity as he stared at the attacker—Richard.

Truthfully, he considered multiple reactions Richard might have, but never imagined Richard would choose to attack.

Is he mad? Does he completely not see the situation?

Now, inside and outside the square, over a hundred gathered wizards, all with extraordinary strength, and if needed, more could quickly co. You could say that the entire Pompeii is invincible as one.

Standing on the opposing side, for Richard to survive, the most rational approach would be to delay as much as possible.

But Richard didn’t, he acted directly.

And this action disrupted his plan, and the plan Supervisor Long i’er had set during the judgent eting.

According to the initial judgent eting, handling Richard was to be done in two parts.

The first part was for Long i’er to personally go to Richard’s residence to find evidence of guilt.

The second part was for him to lead a group of Truth Society wizards to restrain Richard on the square, waiting for Long i’er to return with the evidence to complete the judgent and make Richard confess.

As for the second part, the most vital aspect wasn’t killing Richard, but restraining him. Because Long i’er’s aning was clear, all judgent should be conducted in person—what ones condones, they should destroy by their own hands; their mistakes corrected personally, without needing to borrow others’ hands.

In Cheka’s view, his goal was to eliminate Richard and address any hidden threat that might damage the Truth Society’s interests. He cared about the result, not how the process unfolded, and had no conflict with Long i’er. Since they could cooperate, there was no need to create conflict.

Moreover, although the wizards of the Truth Society present had an absolute advantage, they hadn’t securely suppressed a figure like Richard. Thus, engaging in combat with Richard might not be difficult, but achieving victory in a specific manner is challenging. Neither capturing Richard alive nor forcing a confession would be easy to achieve. After all, if Richard had truly resolved to die and fought desperately to break through, either he would escape successfully, or he would be killed on the spot.

For this reason, facing Richard’s frivolous attitude earlier, albeit angry, he restrained himself from taking action, instead waiting for Long i’er to bring back conclusive evidence for a surefire resolution by Long i’er himself—he only needed to observe and supervise in line with his inspector role.

Unexpectedly, man’s plans couldn’t match heaven’s plans. His planning was impeccable, and Long i’er’s plan was without flaw, but Richard didn’t cooperate—he unceremoniously chose the most aggressive form of resistance.

To take action? Does this an he sees no possible path to survival, hence choosing to go out with dignity by “suicide”?

If that’s the case, it rather makes scornful; I thought he was soone who’d never give up, one who’d hold firm till the very end.

I wanted to see his expression when pushed to the brink, when all his secrets were revealed.

After dodging the attack, Cheka looked at Richard, the shock on his face gradually subsiding, and he coldly mocked, “Are you actively choosing a path to death? By attacking, you’re admitting internally that you’re inevitably dood, aren’t you?”

“The truth is quite the opposite, I’m actively seeking a way out. A few days ago, I wanted to leave; seeing how difficult it is now, I might as well take action myself.” Richard said.

“Actively walking into a grave? Hmph, with so many of us here, once we make a move, no matter how strong you are, you can’t last half a minute.”

“Actually, it won’t take that long.” Richard chuckled softly, “Ten seconds is already enough.”

“Hmm?” Cheka looked at Richard with so confusion.

But Richard didn’t explain, raising an eyebrow, as if receiving so signal, his body shuddered, a golden light enveloped him, the spell “Achilles Armor” activated.

Then, raising a hand, a golden lance ford in his hand—the Langdonick’s Spear.

“Swoosh!”

Richard unceremoniously threw Langdonick’s Spear at Cheka, exploding on Cheka’s shield with a “boom.”

“Crash!”

Cheka’s shield shattered, retreating once more, sowhat aggravated, rallying the other wizards to attack Richard, at this mont hearing Richard unemotionally counting down, “Ten.”

“What?”
