Pompeii Town, near the center in a pri golden location, next to a small square.

A four-story stone building stands here, bustling with people coming and going at the entrance, with many wizards handling affairs here.

In a room on the first floor, Inogova found two different docunts from the desk, pushed them in front of Richard, and said, "Wizard Richard, the docunt on the left is proof of your temporary release from your current residence, and the docunt on the right is proof of your right to priority in selecting a future residence. The place for your signature is at the very end; you can take a detailed look."

"No need." Richard smiled, picked up a quill from the pen holder beside him, dipped it in ink, and quickly signed his na at the end of both docunts.

Placing down the pen, he pushed the two docunts back in front of Inogova and looked at him, asking, "Is there anything else you need to do now?"

"Just one last step left, review with Supervisor Long i’er." Inogova said, picking up the two docunts and walking out from behind the desk toward the door, "Co on, I’ll take you there."

"Okay." Richard did not refuse, taking steps to follow.

...

"Tada, tada, tada..."

Amidst the footsteps, the two arrived on the second floor.

At the end of the corridor on the second floor, Inogova stopped in front of a room and reached out to knock on the door.

"Knock, knock, knock..."

"Co in." A recognizable voice from Long i’er ca from inside the room.

With a creak, Inogova pushed the door open, leading Richard inside, where they saw Long i’er sitting upright behind a wide desk.

Inogova approached, leaned over to Long i’er, and quickly whispered to convey the basic situation, then placed the two signed docunts on the desk.

Long i’er glanced at the docunts, showing slight surprise. Looking up, his gaze passed over Inogova, and turned to Richard.

"Wizard Richard, you’re preparing to leave Pompeii?" Long i’er asked.

"Yes." Richard replied, repeating the explanation he had given Inogova, "My research has encountered so difficulties and I don’t see any hope of solving them in the short term. Staying in Pompeii is of no use, so I might as well go back to Jialan City. Besides, the energy system in Pompeii Town is damaged, and using it anyti soon is impossible. I’ll co back when the energy system is repaired and stabilized."

"Indeed." Long i’er nodded in agreent, "Under the current circumstances, leaving Pompeii is understandable. However, when building the new energy system, if we encounter problems and need your consultation, we hope you’ll actively provide solutions."

"Of course, serving the organization is my duty." Richard replied earnestly.

"That’s good." Long i’er said, then shifted the tone and continued, "By the way, don’t worry too much about the problems in your research. I have high hopes for you, and I believe with your abilities, you will eventually make breakthroughs. Of course, if you encounter particularly tough challenges that you feel you cannot overco for years, we also welco you to return to the mainstream path and research other valuable subjects, like magic runes."

"Sure."

"If there’s anything you need now, feel free to bring it to the organization’s attention," Long i’er said, "As a core mber of the organization, like , you are in pursuit of truth under the guidance of the True God, so don’t hesitate."

Is this the warmth of the organization...? Richard looked at Long i’er and smiled, "There’s nothing much for now. If anything, it might be the tedious task of ensuring all the furniture and experintal equipnt from my current residence are safely moved back to Jialan City."

"Transport items?" Long i’er acknowledged, "That indeed isn’t easy. Although you have the Black Iron Ring, a spatial item recently issued by the organization, its capacity is limited. It’s fine for carrying personal items but unsuitable for moving house; larger items simply can’t fit.

Really, if you put in more effort, and later, with your contributions to the organization and personal abilities, beco a supervisor and wear a Silver-level Ring, the situation may improve — the space capacity would expand.

But to be fair, even with the expanded capacity of a Silver-level space item, the expansion is limited. Even my Gold-level Ring or the higher-level Colorful Diamond Ring cannot store various items boundlessly at will.

Spatial items crafted as rings are convenient to use, but the drawback is the small capacity. To truly use spatial items as warehouses, only so space boxes et the criteria. However, the technology for space boxes has been lost, and the existing space boxes within the organization are extrely rare, with reports of so being lost in the past.

Therefore, the problem of transporting items really isn’t easily solved. You could have other wizards help move things back to Jialan City or use the most common thod of transporting by carriage. Or, as I ntioned, study magic runes thoroughly. Perhaps you could create a new magic rune transportation tool, easily moving everything back — a more fitting act of a wizard."

Richard knew Long i’er’s last sentence had a playful tone, but he still felt a twinge inside after hearing it.

Speaking of which, he had already pondered it more than once. The current transportation thods in the Wizard World were incredibly outdated. As a wizard, either using magic or physically trekking, or traveling like ordinary people on carriages and boats.

Using magic for travel is acceptable for short periods, but over ti, it’s a major challenge for wizards, since mana in the Magic Origin and free energy elents aren’t limitless and require ditation and replenishnt. To be honest, current long-distance travel thods are essentially the sa for wizards and ordinary people — there’s no difference.

Things like the Eagle Tower, flying mounts, or floating airships, such faster aerial transportation tools, haven’t even shown a shadow in this world.

Logically, these transportation tools can be developed and widely popularized under the influence of the extraordinary power of wizards.

Yet, it hasn’t happened.

The transformation in transportation tools has a huge impact on world developnt, and the current lag in transportation tools has, in a sense, already been dragging down the world.

Is it because the destruction of ancient civilization resulted in the complete loss of related knowledge, causing a stagnate state?

Or, in so intangible way, has there been an obstruction?

After all, as flight technology advances, it easily delves into astronomical knowledge, which, when expanded, leads to the universe.

Exploring the universe has the potential to change the entire worldview — for example, on Earth, it was the continued exploration of planetary orbits of Earth, Mars, the Sun, etc., that led to laws like Kepler’s, and Newton’s three laws, opening up a new physical worldview.

However, the exploration of the universe could also lead to extrely tragic outcos — on Earth, Bruno, who promoted the heliocentric theory, was tried by the Inquisition and burned at the stake in 1600 in Ro Flower Square, just over 400 years ago...
