Capítulo 1080: Chapter 1078: Deadly Details

“Inogova Wizard?” Richard raised his eyebrows and looked at the person. Standing at a height of 1.8 ters, Inogova was currently standing by the street, looking at him, holding a stack of thick docunts, its purpose unknown.

“Is there sothing you need?” Richard asked. He desperately told himself internally: The more things seem tense, the more you cannot panic. Before any real danger arrives, you mustn’t let your slip-ups expose your secrets and cause a threat. Therefore, act as usual in all things to avoid raising suspicion.

“It’s like this,” Inogova replied, “Wizard Richard, I just ca out of the office point and wanted to discuss sothing with you.”

“What?”

“Do you rember the issue discussed at the eting a few days ago about dismantling residences?” Inogova asked.

“Of course I rember,” Richard nodded, “I’ve been packing up my experintal instrunts and furniture these days, and tomorrow I can probably move out without affecting the demolition work the day after in the afternoon.”

“That’s for the best,” Inogova said, then pondered before speaking, “However… could I trouble you to move out of your current residence before dawn tomorrow?”

“Before dawn tomorrow? Why?” Richard raised his eyebrows and asked, probing, “Did I do sothing wrong?”

“No, no, no.” Inogova quickly waved his hand, “It’s not your fault, Wizard Richard. It’s actually a problem with the construction. Initially, when the construction team planned, everything was supposed to be normal. But during the actual process, many unforeseen difficulties erged.

Therefore, they need to speed up the progress to save ti later on, to tackle unexpected challenges, ensuring the entire construction tiline won’t be delayed. I was looking for you just now, Wizard Richard, to discuss this matter. What do you think, can you agree?”

“Well——”

Richard elongated his voice, thoughts racing through his mind.

According to Inogova, his residence will be demolished after dawn tomorrow. If he sticks to his original plan of leaving Pompeii after dawn, it might cause so conflict. But now that he’s expedited the plan—to leave Pompeii imdiately—there’s actually no impact.

Even if the wizard from the construction team is as perceptive as Sherlock Hols, and dismantles his residence after dawn only to discover his hidden secrets, he would already have been hundreds of miles away from Pompeii, safe and sound.

About to agree out loud,

Richard forcibly stopped just before speaking, recalling a detail—Inogova holding that stack of docunts—similar to those when he first t Inogova while choosing his residence.

If he agrees to Inogova’s request, it seems fine on the surface, but it might be difficult to handle moving forward.

If he agrees to move out of residence number 1248 before dawn tomorrow, logically he would need to quickly pick a new place to stay—after all, he can’t directly tell Inogova that he’s prepared to leave forever and doesn’t need a new residence.

And choosing a new place would definitely require him to spend so ti in Pompeii with Inogova, and it wouldn’t be short.

He must rember, when he first ca to Pompeii to choose his initial residence, he conducted secret investigations, and outwardly it seed as if he carefully selected after multiple comparisons.

If he casually decides on a new place this ti, it would be hard not to arouse Inogova’s suspicion.

Perhaps the suspicion isn’t lethal, but he doesn’t want to make any mistakes in this dangerous ti that could lead to unexpected errors.

What to do?

Really linger on and pretend for hours with Inogova choosing a new place, and then leave Pompeii afterward?

Fearing delayed too long, he would run into the danger Pandora prophesied earlier.

Or maybe try to be cunning.

He recalls that Inogova said, if a core mber of the Truth Society leaves Pompeii Town for more than a year, the assigned residence will be temporarily revoked. When the mber returns to Pompeii Town, a new residence will be redistributed.

In that case…

Looking at Inogova, Richard spoke, “Inogova Wizard, I can agree with you. I’ll try to be busy tonight, pack my things and move out, and certainly won’t affect the demolition before dawn.”

“That’s good,” Inogova smiled, “Then, Wizard Richard, where do you plan to move your residence to? I have the information for all vacant residences in Pompeii Town in the papers I hold. As compensation for letting you move out early, I can accompany you to take a look at these residences, helping you choose the most satisfying one.”

Indeed… Richard thought in his heart, and responded quietly to Inogova, lightly shaking his head, “Inogova Wizard, no need to trouble. I’ve decided that after moving out of residence number 1248 Stone Building, I’ll leave Pompeii and return to my previous Jialan City.”

“Return to Jialan City? Why?” Inogova asked.

“No particularly special reason,” Richard replied, “I was staying in Pompeii initially to utilize its conditions to aid so of my research. But now, my research is encountering so issues that can’t be resolved for now, so staying in Pompeii isn’t helpful, might as well return to Jialan.

Moreover, while Pompeii is great, Jialan is comparatively quieter. Most importantly, there I won’t be worried about the energy system’s erratic incidents, unable to sleep well.”

Hearing Richard’s teasing about the energy system’s instability, Inogova couldn’t resist a laugh and echoed, “Alright, Wizard Richard, leaving is indeed a good choice. Truth is, I used to worry about issues with the energy system too, until they truly occurred, then I felt relieved. Haha. Perhaps when the new energy system is built and its stability improved, you can co see it again.”

“I will.”

“In that case, you don’t need to choose a residence. Just accompany back to the office point, sign so docunts, confirm you’re temporarily waiving your residence allocation rights, and let Supervisor Long i’er approve it,” Inogova said.

“Now?” Richard blinked and asked, “Can it wait a while? I was planning to go down the mountain to handle so chores. How about after I co back, then we go sign the docunts?”

“Are you sure?” Inogova shrugged, looked over seriously, “If you go to the office point now, Supervisor Long i’er is just there, the entire process can be approved in less than a minute. If you wait, and Supervisor Long i’er leaves, it’ll be more of a hassle then.”

Richard looked at Inogova, the two exchanged gazes.

A process lasting less than a minute… So the choice now is between wasting a minute and raising slight suspicion in Inogova.

Slight suspicion from Inogova won’t be too fatal… Correspondingly, wasting a minute won’t change the outco much either… A minute’s ti wouldn’t allow him to get far from Pompeii Town under the assumption of maintaining disguise; if sothing happened, he’d still be involved.

Given that fact, why not remove Inogova’s suspicion, preventing the stepping-on-the-side scenario?

After half a second’s gaze, before the atmosphere turned subtle, Richard agreed to Inogova with a nod, “Alright, since Supervisor Long i’er is just there, I’ll conveniently go to the office point to sign the docunts; sorry for the trouble, Inogova Wizard.”

“No trouble at all,” Inogova stepped forth, leading the way to the office point, and in transit casually asked, “By the way, Wizard Richard, I’m a bit curious, what were you planning to handle when heading down the mountain?”

“Well, nothing special, just stuff like hiring a carriage and the like, given it’s not a short distance moving my things back to Jialan City, I can’t manage it alone.”

“So that’s it,” Inogova nodded, seemingly enlightened.
