Chapter 627: 624, Saving Hunter Du Wei Chapter 627: 624, Saving Hunter Du Wei Human or Inhuman.
When soone’s bottom line, or rather, the certain moral boundaries and principles one should adhere to, are shattered, then that person becos less than human.
Puton had now taken on this ghastly form.
To describe him as such was more than apt.
To obtain anything of value, a price must be paid.
An aberrant form of immortality had twisted his self, his consciousness dominated by desire.
Instinct made him covet beautiful things, longing to possess what he had lost, such as the basic semblance of a human.
...
And now, there was nothing that satisfied him more than the body of Alfaria, the leader of the Vanity Sect.
The key of the thumb pierced Du Wei’s throat.
It went straight in.
No wound appeared.
Nor did it elicit any reaction from Du Wei, for his consciousness had already completely crashed; otherwise, Alex wouldn’t have seen his death in his Future Sight.
He couldn’t save himself.
The battle with the eighteen Demon Gods wasn’t about winning or losing because he didn’t gain any advantage, and his current fall was the price.
Puton gazed at Du Wei with intense longing.
“I will beco the leader of the Vanity Sect, I will take everything from you, and then control this world,” he said.
“By then, no one will be able to resist .”
As Puton spoke, he inserted the remaining four keys into Du Wei’s body, one by one.
His five fingers were long and slender, like tree branches that could spread wide apart.
The key of the thumb pierced the throat.
The key of the index finger then pierced the collarbone.
Following that, the chest, then the heart.
And then the longest middle finger plunged towards Du Wei’s head.
But just then.
Puton’s skull-like face jerked around abruptly, sensing incoming danger.
But all around was pitch-black darkness.
He could see nothing at all.
“What is it, co out!” Puton rasped in a growl, not pausing with the middle finger that was poised, but just as it touched Du Wei’s head, a shattered scalpel blade chopped down on that key.
In the darkness, Puton saw a pair of cold, murder-filled cerulean eyes.
“Let go of him!” Alex yelled, punching towards Puton.
The latter hesitated for a mont, unwilling to release the body he was about to claim, choosing to take the blow head-on.
He also struck out with his hand.
But a dice rolled through the darkness.
When it landed, it showed the number 4.
Each side of the dice represented a special ability, and 4 was for peace.
Puton was no longer human.
So the power of the dice worked on him.
Puton’s outstretched hand involuntarily halted.
But the dice thrower was the Envelope, and Alex remained unaffected, her punch landing on Puton’s head, sending him flying backward.
The keys that had been inserted into Du Wei’s body were also forcibly pulled out.
Still, no wound appeared.
Alex grabbed Du Wei’s body, flung off his chains, and held him in one arm.
The fragnt of the Evil Spirit Scalpel in her grip trembled ceaselessly.
In its remaining single eye, blood spread, the shadow recognizing its master only as Du Wei, not Alex.
Instinctively, it wanted to beco a shadow.
But now Alex needed its power, so she clenched the scalpel even more tightly, her right palm’s flesh becoming indistinct.
“I won’t let you be in danger again,” Alex said to Du Wei, to herself.
She held the unconscious Du Wei in her left arm and the broken scalpel fragnt in her right, pointing toward Puton with cold ruthlessness, “I want you dead…”
Puton sneered furiously, “You’ll be the one to die, foolish woman.”
With these words, Puton instantly appeared in front of Alex.
The terrifying chill filled every inch of the surrounding space.
At the sa ti, a large hole broke open in the cabin, and seawater surged in.
Alex imdiately retreated.
Swinging the scalpel blade as though it were a sword, she slashed at Puton’s head.
“`
It was simply a life exchanged for another.
Puton hurriedly slapped Du Wei’s chest, sending Alex flying as well, causing the latter to heavily crash onto the cabin.
Alex groaned in pain and fell to the ground.
Yet, blood spilled from the corners of the unconscious Du Wei’s mouth.
Seeing this, Alex shuddered, the murderous intent in her eyes surged as she bit her lip and slowly laid Du Wei on the ground.
“Envelope, protect him.”
The Envelope imdiately floated over, surrounded by dice, coins, and Joker Cards.
[As you command, mistress.]
Alex slowly stood up, lifting her head to gaze at Puton, who resembled a demon.
Without a word, she charged forward.
Puton sneered.
Alex, however, was cold to the extre.
Her azure eyes had turned blood-red.
The ability of Future Sight was activated.
Soon after, Puton began to doubt its existence.
If it ever was human, that is.
Alex moved as if she could predict all of its movents in advance, always finding the simplest and most direct way to neutralize them, while she herself was being overwhelmingly suppressed.
“Damn it, what the hell are you?”
“You’re definitely not a hunter, but how can you hurt ?”
Puton was completely baffled; it was once a hunter, but only the ability to transform into an Evil Spirit was effective against Evil Spirit Demons.
But what about her?
She did not seem human at all, rather like so terrifying entity.
Alex remained silent.
She did not know the terror of her opponent, nor did she understand her own transformation; she only knew that this ghostly thing had made Du Wei vomit blood and now wanted to take over Du Wei’s body.
The nearby Envelope was stunned.
It instinctively felt fear towards Alex.
Because it suddenly rembered, the last ti its master lost control was when it found out Alex might not be human.
Just then.
The Envelope suddenly thought of sothing.
It imdiately dived into the pocket of the unconscious Du Wei and reerged wrapped around a Flintlock Gun.
[Mistress, use this!]
The Flintlock Gun was thrown directly at Alex.
She caught it with her backhand, stuffing the muzzle into Puton’s mouth.
“Die…”
Alex pulled the trigger without hesitation, whispering in her heart.
Boom…
Puton’s head exploded into fragnts.
Its body wandered aimlessly for a mont before it kneeled on the ground.
By now, the seawater that had flooded into the cabin had risen to knee-level.
According to what she had seen in Future Sight, the Ghost Ship was going to sink into the sea.
Alex dared not hesitate any longer and imdiately rushed to Du Wei, embracing him tightly.
They had to leave quickly.
But just at that mont, a slender, black hand erged, grasping Alex’s ankle.
With a loud crash…
The cabin was completely shattered.
Seawater poured in.
Although Puton’s headless body was not dead, it clung to Alex’s ankle, dragging her and Du Wei down to the sea floor.
The Ghost Ship fell apart entirely, creating a whirlpool under the action of the seawater.
Alex and the unconscious Du Wei were pulled into the vortex.
The icy seawater was despairing, and looking downwards, there was only the dark, bottomless seabed.
Alex could not escape.
She kicked at the monster with all her might, but it was to no avail.
The creature was intent on her death.
A flicker of resolve passed through Alex’s eyes as she looked at Du Wei, whose face was blurred in the water and could hardly be seen; she softly kissed him on the lips.
Then, with all her remaining strength, she pushed him towards the surface.
