"I wanted to scare you!"
"Scare ?" Tong Keke raised an eyebrow. "I’m not soone you grew up scaring, you won’t scare !"
"Tong Keke, are you trying to defy gravity?" Gu Qianxi turned and glared at her angrily. "Stop testing my limits. Get out!"
Tong Keke could tell that her uncle was genuinely angry. Reluctantly, she climbed off his bed with tears welling in her eyes and walked toward the door with her head lowered.
Gu Qianxi looked at her; she seed truly hurt. His brow furrowed deeply, and his thin lips pressed into a tight line.
Just as Tong Keke reached out to push the door open, Gu Qianxi suddenly spoke: "Co back!"
Tong Keke turned her head, staring at him with a hint of confusion.
"You sleep on the bed, I’ll sleep on the sofa," Gu Qianxi said, pointing at the bed and then at the sofa.
Tong Keke paused in surprise. "Why not sleep together on the bed? Your bed is so big; you can sleep on one side, I’ll sleep on the other."
Now that she seed re-energized, Gu Qianxi couldn’t help but chuckle resignedly. "Keke, do you know that your little tricks to wear out are becoming more frequent? Soday, they’ll drive insane."
Tong Keke blinked her eyes, then smiled shyly. "Uncle, be honest with . I’m actually not as casual as I appear. I’m still very conservative and traditional!"
"Doesn’t look like it!" Gu Qianxi lay down on one side of the bed.
Tong Keke mumbled under her breath, "Then I’ll restrain myself a bit in the future! Uncle, do you prefer to be more reserved?"
"Just be your true self. That’s enough!" Gu Qianxi didn’t want to change her.
Tong Keke carefully lay down, pulling the quilt over herself. She turned to face Gu Qianxi and asked quietly, "Uncle, are you going to sleep now?"
"Mm."
"You don’t want to chat with ?"
"No, I have work tomorrow. I need to rest properly."
"Alright then, I’ll sleep too." Tong Keke knew her uncle’s work required a lot of energy, so she obediently decided not to bother him anymore. She tugged at the quilt and closed her eyes to sleep.
Young and simple-minded, Tong Keke fell asleep almost imdiately after saying she would.
But Gu Qianxi, who had been pretending to sleep, suddenly opened his eyes. With the girl he liked lying right beside him, how could he possibly fall asleep?
The bedside lamp was still on, its light incredibly soft. Gu Qianxi frowned slightly, his gaze lingering on the girl’s angelic sleeping face.
She looked so beautiful and adorable.
Gu Qianxi couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smile, unaware of why he was smiling in the first place.
Yet, seeing her filled him with contentnt.
Even though this little troublemaker could be annoyingly noisy at tis, full of sches that left him unsure of what to do.
Still, if her voice were to suddenly vanish, Gu Qianxi felt life would surely beco dull.
Even if it ant being bothered, he’d gladly let her do so — spending a lifeti like this, creating a whirlwind of energy together, might be quite interesting.
In the middle of the night!
Gu Qianxi felt a warm little figure inching closer to him.
Perhaps she was cold, as the sleeping Tong Keke instinctively gravitated toward warmth.
At first, Gu Qianxi had intended to avoid her tiny body, but she kept pressing closer so persistently that he was nearly pushed off the bed.
However, when he touched her hands and feet, he realized just how cold they really were.
So Gu Qianxi stopped dodging. He wrapped her entire body in his arms, letting her back press against him as she slept peacefully.
What he didn’t realize was that the little girl in his embrace had a smile quietly spreading across her lips.
