At the door, Huo Yanting and Lin Banxia were chatting with soone when they saw Tong Keke covering her mouth and rushing past them in a blur.
Both of them froze for a mont, and imdiately afterward, they saw the handso and anxious Gu Qianxi striding after her.
"What happened?" Huo Yanting grabbed his friend’s arm and asked with concern.
Gu Qianxi shrugged helplessly. "Just a kid throwing a tantrum!"
Only then did Huo Yanting release his arm. "Then hurry up and calm her down!"
"Yanting, I’m really sorry. I might not be able to co back later!" Gu Qianxi felt genuinely apologetic to his friend.
Huo Yanting, who knew him best, smiled and said, "It’s fine. Just make sure you show up on ti for the wedding. Go make your little darling feel better!"
Gu Qianxi gave him a grateful glance and hurried away.
anwhile, Lin Banxia, who had overheard Huo Yanting say "little darling" just now, shivered slightly.
She couldn’t help tugging on Huo Yanting’s arm. "What did you an by what you just said?"
Huo Yanting, seeing her curious expression, leaned in closer and whispered in her ear, "Haven’t you figured it out yet?"
"Figure out what?" Lin Banxia blinked her dark eyes.
"The subtle, yet unmistakable feelings between Gu Qianxi and Tong Keke!"
"What..." Lin Banxia was truly surprised, but she quickly cald down and smiled knowingly. "Actually, I had my suspicions for a while, but I was afraid to believe it!"
Huo Yanting bit her earlobe and took the opportunity to sneak in a gentle nibble, making Lin Banxia’s face flush bright red with embarrassnt.
"What are you doing!" Lin Banxia quickly pushed him away as Huo Yanting chuckled smugly. "You look so beautiful today, I couldn’t resist teasing you a little."
"You’re so annoying!" Lin Banxia was both flustered and shy, but her heart felt sweet and warm.
Being praised by the one you love—what a simple yet delightful thing.
While their relationship was heating up, over in the parking lot, Gu Qianxi had finally caught up—just in ti to spot Tong Keke wiping her tears by the car.
"Keke!" Gu Qianxi steadied his breathing and walked toward her in asured steps.
Tong Keke, her tears falling like rain, looked pitifully straight ahead, occasionally lifting her hand to wipe them away. "Why does she have to interfere with ? I hate her!"
"Keke, don’t be sad. Maybe it’s just sothing mothers do—always trying to control their children. Once you beco a mother, you’ll understand how it feels," Gu Qianxi gently comforted her.
Tong Keke broke into a smile through her tears when she heard his words. "Uncle, then when can I beco a mother?"
Gu Qianxi: "..."
"Well, that might take a few more years," he said, his voice slightly hoarse.
What’s with this little troublemaker suddenly bringing that up again?
Tong Keke loved seeing her uncle look flustered. His handso face turned red, making him even more attractive.
She pouted on purpose. "How disappointing—I have to wait so many years!"
Gu Qianxi chuckled softly and patted her on the head. "You can’t even wait a few years?"
"No, I don’t want to wait. I just want to be with you... Uncle, you know what I an by ’be with you,’ don’t you?" Tong Keke batted her big, innocent eyes at him, throwing a playful wink.
Gu Qianxi shuddered, as though an electric current shot through him. He quickly opened the car door. "Enough, don’t overthink things. Get in the car already. Let’s go out for dinner!"
"So you’re not going back to the banquet? Didn’t you say Huo Yanting is your best friend? Skipping his engagent party—are you sure that’s okay?" Tong Keke knew how close her uncle and Huo Yanting were, and she felt a bit guilty about it.
"It’s fine. He only asked to show up on ti for the wedding," Gu Qianxi replied with a gentle smile, already sliding into the driver’s seat ahead of her.
