Watching the car speed away, Ji Wei’s eyes seed to shoot out flas. She threw away what was in her hand, saw the kebabs in Xiao Liu’s hand, snatched them fiercely, and threw them into the trash can.
"Sister Ji, are you okay?" Ji Wei used too much force, and her body swayed slightly. Xiao Liu quickly held her steady. His heart surged with pity: "As long as there’s life, there’s hope. Sister Ji, you must think things through."
Before, she always blad Ji Wei for being too suspicious, but now she knew that Ji Wei’s instincts had always been right.
"I’m fine. I won’t let anything happen to myself." Ji Wei steadied herself with Xiao Liu’s help, her eyes behind the big sunglasses sharp and revealing. She would never let Wen Nuan succeed, never!

Now that she had a baby, Wen Nuan didn’t dare to bounce around like before. She wanted to be careful with this child, to protect him/her from any harm. Giving up on sightseeing by the lake, she chose a clean hotel to stay in temporarily. Lying on the bed, her lips and brows were tinged with a smile.
The phone was right beside her. She was sure Leng Yan would definitely call. She gently closed her eyes, imagining Leng Yan’s ecstatic expression upon hearing the news, thinking about the baby’s appearance, and unconsciously fell asleep.
When she woke up and saw the ti, she couldn’t help but chuckle to herself.
No wonder she had been so sleepy lately. Tong Xi even joked that she should change her zodiac to a pig. She hadn’t thought that it was all because of the pregnancy.
Turning on her phone, she expected Leng Yan’s call, but it was empty. No ssages, no calls.
She felt a bit disappointed imdiately and wanted to call him, but looking at the ti, she held back.
It was already two in the morning, and Leng Yan’s recent work had been very busy. He was probably just falling asleep now, so it was best not to wake him.
Feeling unbearably lonely, she opened the phone gallery and looked at the picture of the diamond ring Leng Yan had sent. A smile slowly curved at the corner of Wen Nuan’s mouth.
Just bear with it a little longer, she encouraged herself. Looking at this picture, thinking that soon she’d be his bride, there was still more joy in her heart.
She slept a little while longer, and when dawn broke, she couldn’t wait to get up, grabbing the test strip and rushing into the bathroom. When she ca out, she couldn’t calm down for a long ti, and that smile seed to be embedded on her pretty face, everlasting.
The doctor’s diagnosis was correct, her test strip also showed she was pregnant.
"I’m going to be a mom, Yan is going to be a dad." She really wanted to shout it out loud. When she said "I" to the outside window, Wen Nuan’s face flushed, and she pressed her lips and smiled, picking up the distant phone, happily dialing Leng Yan’s number.
"The number you dialed is temporarily unavailable..."
The chanical female voice repeated over and over. Wen Nuan was taken aback for a mont, seeing the clock hand pointing at six. At this ti, he should still be ho, so she dialed the ho landline.
"Young Madam?" Xiao Mi was startled when she heard her voice, exclaiming excitedly.
"Xiao Mi, where is Yan?" Wen Nuan asked with a smile.
He had ntioned to Yan that both Xiao Mi and Sister Ping knew about them, so there was no need to be wary.
"Young Master, he..." Xiao Mi’s earlier joy was dampened by Wen Nuan’s inquiry, and she stamred, unsure of what to say.
Wen Nuan’s heart trembled slightly: "He isn’t at ho?"
"Yes." Unable to hide it from Young Madam, Xiao Mi sighed and could only speak the truth: "Young Master didn’t co ho all night."
"He didn’t co ho all night?" Wen Nuan was shocked: "Did he say where he went?"
Could it be that he stayed at the old house or worked all night at the office? She thought in the best way possible, as for Ji Wei’s side, she subconsciously chose to ignore it.
"Young Madam, I don’t know that either." Xiao Mi honestly replied: "Since Young Master went to work yesterday morning, he hasn’t co back. At dinner, I called him, but couldn’t get through."
"I understand." When Wen Nuan hung up the phone, she felt utterly exhausted.
She took a deep breath to calm herself, telling herself over and over that he was probably just working late. Once the secretary was at work, she could call the company to find out.
"Young Master Leng, your call."
The secretary received a call just as she started work. Hearing the voice was the woman from yesterday, she quickly covered the mouthpiece and told Leng Yan, who looked tired coming out of the elevator.
"Just say I’m not here. It doesn’t matter who calls today, just say I’m not here." Leng Yan’s frown was deeply furrowed, his handso face seemingly shrouded with sorrow. Pushing open the office door, unusually, he didn’t sit down in his office chair directly, but on the sofa, rubbing his temples tightly.
Looking at his uncharged phone, a bitter smile appeared on his lips. When he intended to charge it, he stopped again, throwing the charger hard against the wall; he swiped the neatly arranged docunts, scattering them all over the floor, and after taking a few deep breaths, he tightly gripped his hair.
"He’s not there?" Wen Nuan was stunned. She bit her lip and continued to ask: "Didn’t he work overti last night?"
"No." The secretary was puzzled: "Miss, may I ask who you are? You can leave your phone number and na, and I’ll inform him when Young Master Leng returns."
Wen Nuan’s expression was montarily dazed, her voice powerless: "No need."
Falling heavily onto the bed, she slowly closed her eyes, and a wave of unease enveloped her.
Without overti, where could he have gone? If he went to the old house, he never stayed overnight there. Could he be with Ji Wei?
She wanted to know, but she couldn’t call Ji Wei. Yan said the result would co out soon, and she didn’t want to cause him trouble at this ti. Besides, it was already work hours, and he was always punctual. Why hadn’t he gone to the company?
Could sothing have happened?
With her mood so heavy, Wen Nuan had no interest in doing anything. She had to call Leng Yan’s phone every now and then, dialing it and then waiting dazedly like a nerve wreck. But the voice that ca through, like a recorder, kept repeating over and over.

In Leng Yan’s office, his eyes were fixed on the computer screen.
Since taking a call, he had been staring for a long ti, motionless.
The screen showed neither a proposal nor a report.
A pair of diamond rings, strong and masculine for the man, gentle and beautiful for the woman, shone brightly on the computer screen, but couldn’t illuminate his heart.
He no longer felt the excitent of seeing this pair of diamond rings for the first ti. Instead, what replaced it was a sense of irony and deep sadness.
