Chapter 463

In order to evolve the Summoner from one rank to another and elevate its rarity level, the creature first needed to be actually created. To accomplish this, he had to choose one of the three basic types, roach, spider, or fly, so that it could later evolve into the Summoner.

Since the creature he planned to create was a flying one, he ntally instructed one of the flies aimlessly milling about the cavern to enter the Creation Chamber. Once it was inside, floating within the greenish fluid, he accessed the Creation Chamber’s nu.

Imdiately, the requirents for evolving the fly into the Summoner filled his vision.

Required Genetic Materials:

Biomass: 14,350

Mana: 17,755

Brain Matter: 6,125

Rigidbone: 10,890

Proceed with Evolution: Y/N (Success Probability: 88%)

He had plenty of resources stored in the lair, more than enough for creating the Summoner. The chances of a successful evolution were pretty good, too, so he could initiate the process of evolving the fly into the Summoner right away.

The resultant creature would be quite large, even bigger than crawlers and wingclaws. Luckily, the System allowed him to rge several structures of the sa type together to make a single, larger one. A structure couldn’t be increased an infinite number of tis, though. Instead, he could only rge a limited number of structures of the sa type with the one he wished to grow.

He had long since grown one of the Creation Chambers to its maximum allowed size. This allowed him to develop quite large creatures there, so it was big enough to create the Summoner. But it was still too small compared to a Behemoth Cavern, aning that enormous Kaiju-like beings could still only be created in the latter.

So, he thought “Yes”, and imdiately several tube-like growths swelled on the Corruption, connecting various storage units to the Creation Chamber. The required amounts of necessary resources were then automatically transferred through these connections, which were called veins, from the storage units directly into the chamber.

Once inside the structure, they drifted toward the motionlessly floating fly in carefully asured portions, and the process of the fly’s evolution into the Summoner began. He checked the progress nu.

Fly (Evolution in Progress)

Current Status: 1% Complete

Estimated Ti Remaining: 3 hours, 34 minutes, 56 seconds

So, he had over three hours to kill. He wondered what the best way to spend that ti was. Should he go to the eting location with Mad Mick again? Sure, the last drone Mick had used to communicate with him was destroyed by D, but if Mick could build one, he surely had the ans and resources to produce others.

Also, he had clearly been constantly monitoring the eting location via his drones and would, without a doubt, continue to do so. He obviously wanted to et with Jake for so reason. However, Jake decided not to go there just yet, fearing that D might be sowhere nearby. And he wasn’t ready to be locked in a battle with his counterpart again just yet.

Another option was to return to the Spartan base and help them take care of one of the Titans. Before doing so, however, he would first need to visit Catalina’s base and ask her people to manufacture another electrolarynx for him. Without such a device, communicating with humans was much more difficult than he liked.

In the end, Jake decided not to do any of that for now. Instead, he opted to use the Fleshport to return to Dead City and simply hunt for so XP.

So, for the next three hours, he stalked the ruined streets of Dead City, slaying every group of ravagespawn he ca across. However, he never strayed too far from the skeletal remains of the building where he had placed the Transfer Maw tethered to the ten-story lair.

Eventually, the grind paid off: he leveled up from 175 to 176. He then allocated all five earned skill points to Mind, increasing it from 323 to 328. His total Command Points now stood at 525.

He quickly made so calculations in his mind. The total cost of all his working creatures, along with others such as Lurkers and Guardians, ca to 255 CP, leaving him with 270 CP to spare. He already had a small army of developed combat units, consisting of fifteen crawlers and an equal number of wingclaws. Each of these creatures cost 3 CP, which ant he had 180 CP still available.

It wasn’t bad at all. It allowed him to create sixty more combat units. But he wasn’t going to do that just yet, as he didn’t know how many CP a single Summoner would require or how many of them he would need. So Jake continued to prowl the infested streets of Dead City, defeating ravagespawn and steadily gaining experience.

At so point, a system notification he had been waiting for finally popped into view.

Success! [Rank I Fly] has evolved into another form!

Jake dealt with the monsters he was fighting at that mont, then made his way back to the Transfer Maw. Slipping through the portal, he erged back in his ten-story lair. Then he instructed the Creation Chamber to release the newly developed creature.

The towering beast he ntally referred to as the Summoner erged from the chamber and halted before Jake, looking down at him, awaiting commands from its master. He knew he could now give this newly developed creature a unique na by which it would be called from that point onward.

However, before doing so, Jake decided to take a mont to study the massive creature he had just developed. The creature was spectacular. Jake slowly walked around his handiwork, admiring the magnificent beast.

It mostly looked like a wyvern. Its massive serpentine body was supported by two muscular legs, each tipped with wickedly curved claws. Its huge head housed a large mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth. Its two large, solid-blue eyes were not unlike his own. Although its wings were currently folded neatly against its sides, he estimated their span would be no less than fifteen feet when fully spread.

All in all, the beast was magnificent, and he was proud of such a creation. Unlike most of his other creations, it bore none of the usual insectoid traits. Instead, it looked more like a majestic mythical creature from ancient tales.

Now it was ti to na it. He didn’t think for long. He decided to call it the Wyrmcaller. Sure, the beast looked much more like a wyvern than an actual wyrm, but he chose the na anyway.

He then walked behind the wyrmcaller once more and stopped to study its back. While the creature looked very similar to a wyvern, it didn’t have any scales. Instead, its skin was obsidian-black and textured, just like his own, clearly made from the sa material as his form.

Its body was broad and sturdy, easily capable of bearing his weight. He moved in a slow circle, coming around to face it once more. The wyrmcaller’s head followed his every move, those unblinking eyes locked firmly onto his own.

On the front of the beast’s body, where a ribcage would normally be, there was what looked like a suture or scar. It was huge, running the entire front section of the wyrmcaller’s body. This was the organ Jake had added to the creature after designing its main form. It was intended to function like a Transfer Maw. Now, it was ti to check if it perford as intended.

He issued a ntal command for the beast to open its riftmaw, as he decided to call this organ to differentiate it from a Transfer Maw. The wyrmcaller obeyed, opening its riftmaw wide. The front section of the creature’s body expanded to at least twice its usual width. When open, the riftmaw looked a lot like a regular Transfer Maw, a circular opening filled with rows of large, jagged teeth.

Jake could see that the riftmaw was just the right size to allow large creatures such as crawlers or wingclaws to pass through. For the mont, however, the riftmaw was little more than an intimidating feature without real functionality. To enable it to teleport other beings, the wyrmcaller would need to acquire the Fleshport ability Jake had recently unlocked. That ant its rarity would first have to be upgraded from Common to Uncommon.

Jake commanded the creature to close its riftmaw, then pulled up the wyrmcaller’s initial stats.

Na: Wyrmcaller (Common)

Command Points: 10

Rank: I

Size: Large

Strength: 15% (Common)

Constitution: 14% (Common)

Agility: 16% (Common)

Intelligence: 17% (Common)

Magick: 17% (Common)

Special abilities: None

His combat units, crawlers and wingclaws, were dium-sized, and each cost 3 SP. The towering beast before him was reasonably considered large and therefore demanded a steeper price: 10 Command Points.

At Rank I, its current stats left much to be desired, but Jake was determined to change that in a mont.

With its creation complete, the next step was evolution. By pushing its rank higher and improving its rarity level, he could make it much more powerful.

While evolving the wyrmcaller, he also planned to continue to experint with various unique genetic materials. If he was lucky, he might even unlock so interesting additional abilities for the wyrmcaller.

With that in mind, Jake got back to work.
